1 So then Yahweh sent Nathan the prophet unto David,who therefore came unto him and said to himTwo men, there were in a certain city, the one, rich, and, the other, poor.
1 O Senhor Deus mandou que o profeta Natã fosse falar com Davi. Natã foi e disse: — Havia dois homens que viviam na mesma cidade: um era rico, e o outro era pobre.
2 The, rich, man had flocks and herds exceeding many;
2 O rico possuía muito gado e ovelhas,
3 whereas the, poor, man had, nothing,save one little lamb, which he had made his own, and sustained, and it had grown up with him and with his children, all together,of his own morsel, used it to eat, and, out of his own cup, used it to drink, and, in his own bosom, used it to lie, and it was to him, as a daughter.
3 enquanto que o pobre tinha somente uma ovelha, que ele havia comprado. Ele cuidou dela, e ela cresceu na sua casa, junto com os filhos dele. Ele a alimentava com a sua própria comida, deixava que ela bebesse no seu próprio copo, e ela dormia no seu colo. A ovelha era como uma filha para ele.
4 Now there came a traveller to the rich man, but he thought it a pity to take of his own flock, or his own herd, to make ready for the wayfarer who had come to him,so he took the lamb of his poor neighbour, and made ready for the man who had come to him.
4 Certo dia um visitante chegou à casa do homem rico. Este não quis matar um dos seus próprios animais para preparar uma refeição para o visitante; em vez disso, pegou a ovelha do homem pobre, matou-a e preparou com ela uma refeição para o seu hóspede.
5 Then was kindled the anger of David against the man, fiercely,and he said unto Nathan, By the life of Yahweh, doomed to death, is the man that hath done this;
5 Então Davi ficou furioso com aquele homem e disse: — Eu juro pelo
6 and, the lamb, shall he pay back sevenfold,because he did this thing, and, for that he had no pity.
6 Ele deverá pagar quatro vezes o que tirou, por ter feito uma coisa tão cruel!
7 Then said Nathan unto David: Thou, art the man! Thus, saith Yahweh, God of IsraelI, anointed thee to be king over Israel, and, I, delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
7 Então Natã disse a Davi: — Esse homem é você. E é isto o que diz o
8 and gave unto thee the household of thy lord, and the wives of thy lord, into thy bosom, and gave unto thee the house of Israel and Judah. And, if this had been too little, I could have further given thee more and more of such things.
8 Eu lhe dei o reino e as mulheres dele; tornei você rei de Israel e de Judá. E, se isso não bastasse, eu lhe teria dado duas vezes mais.
9 Wherefore, hast thou despised the word of Yahweh, by doing that which is wicked in mine eyes? Uriah the Hittite, hast thou smitten with the sword, and, his wife, hast thou taken to thyself to wife, yea, him, hast thou slain with the sword of the sons of Ammon!
9 Por que é que você desobedeceu aos meus mandamentos e fez essa coisa tão horrível? Você fez com que Urias, o heteu, fosse morto na batalha; deixou que os amonitas o matassem e então ficou com a esposa dele!
10 Now, therefore, the sword shall not depart from thy house, unto age-abiding times,because thou hast despised me, and taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
10 Portanto, porque você me desobedeceu e tomou a mulher de Urias, sempre alguns dos seus descendentes morrerão de morte violenta.
11 Thus, saith Yahweh,Behold me! raising up over thee calamity out of thine own household, and I will take thy wives, before thine eyes, and give unto thy neighbour, and he will lie with thy wives, in the eyes of this sun.
11 E também afirmo que farei uma pessoa da sua própria família causar a sua desgraça. Você verá isso quando eu tirar as suas esposas e as der a outro homem; e ele terá relações com elas em plena luz do dia.
12 For, thou, didst it, in secret,but, I, will do this thing, before all Israel, and before the sun.
12 Você pecou escondido, em segredo, mas eu farei com que isso aconteça em plena luz do dia, para todo o povo de Israel ver.”
13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against Yahweh. Then said Nathan unto David,Yahweh also, hath put away thy sin, thou shalt not die!
13 Então Davi disse: — Eu pequei contra Deus, o Natã respondeu: — O
14 Nevertheless, because thou hast greatly blasphemed Yahweh, by this thing, the very son that is born to thee, shall, die.
14 Mas, porque, fazendo isso, você mostrou tanto desprezo pelo Senhor , o seu filho morrerá.
15 And Nathan departed unto his own house,and Yahweh struck the child that the wife of Uriah had borne unto David, and it fell sick.
15 Aí Natã foi para casa. Então o
16 David therefore earnestly sought God in behalf of the boy,and David kept a fast, and used to go in and pass the night, and lie upon the ground.
16 Davi orou a Deus para que a criança sarasse e não quis comer nada. Entrou no seu quarto e passou a noite inteira deitado no chão.
17 And the elders of his house stood up over him, to raise him from the ground,but he would not, neither would he eat food with them.
17 Então os funcionários do palácio tentaram fazer Davi se levantar, mas ele não quis e não comeu nada com eles.
18 And it came to pass, on the seventh day, that the child died,but the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead, for said theyLo! while the child was living, we spake unto him, and he hearkened not unto our voice, how then can we say unto him, The child is dead, and so he do harm?
18 Uma semana depois, a criança morreu, e os funcionários ficaram com medo de dar a notícia a Davi. Eles disseram: — Enquanto a criança estava viva, Davi não respondia quando falávamos com ele. Como vamos dizer a ele que a criança morreu? Ele poderá fazer alguma loucura!
19 But, when David saw that his servants were whispering among themselves, then understood David that the child was dead,and David said unto his servantsIs the child, dead? And they answeredDead!
19 Quando Davi viu os oficiais cochichando uns com os outros, compreendeu que a criança havia morrido. Então perguntou: — A criança morreu? — Morreu! — responderam eles.
20 Then David arose from the ground, and bathed and anointed, and changed his apparel, and, entering into the house of Yahweh, bowed himself down,then came he into his own house, and asked, and they set before him food, and he did eat.
20 Então Davi se levantou do chão, tomou um banho, penteou os cabelos e trocou de roupa. Depois foi à casa de Deus, o Senhor , e o adorou. Quando voltou ao palácio, pediu comida e comeu logo o que lhe foi servido.
21 Then said his servants unto him, What is this thing that thou hast done? For the childs sake, while living, thou didst fast and weep, but, as soon as the child was dead, thou didst arise and eat food.
21 Aí os seus oficiais disseram: — Nós não entendemos isto. Enquanto o menino estava vivo, o senhor chorou por ele e não comeu; mas, logo que ele morreu, o senhor se levantou e comeu!
22 And he said,While yet the child lived, I fasted, and wept,for I saidWho knoweth whether Yahweh may not grant me favour, and the child live?
22 — Sim! — respondeu Davi. — Enquanto o menino estava vivo, eu jejuei e chorei porque o Senhor poderia ter pena de mim e não deixar que ele morresse.
23 But, now, that he is dead, wherefore should I go on fasting? can I bring him back again? I am going unto him, but, he, will not come back unto me.
23 Mas agora que está morto, por que jejuar? Será que eu poderia fazê-lo viver novamente? Um dia eu irei para o lugar onde ele está, porém ele nunca voltará para mim.
24 And David consoled Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her,and she bare a son, and called his name, Solomon, and Yahweh loved him.
24 Então Davi consolou a sua esposa Bate-Seba. Teve relações com ela, e ela deu à luz um filho, a quem Davi deu o nome de Salomão. Deus amou o menino
25 And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and called his name Jedidiah, for Yahwehs sake. \fs15
25 e mandou que o profeta Natã lhe desse o nome de Jedidias porque o Senhor Deus o amava.
26 And Joab fought against Rabbah, of the sons of Ammon,and captured the royal city.
26 Enquanto isso, Joabe continuou a atacar Rabá, a capital do país de Amom. Quando estava para conquistar a cidade,
27 Then Joab sent messengers unto David,and saidI have fought against Rabbah, I have also captured the city of the waters.
27 enviou mensageiros com o seguinte recado para Davi: — Eu ataquei Rabá e conquistei os seus reservatórios de água.
28 Now, therefore, gather thou together the rest of the people, and encamp against the city, and capture it,lest, I, capture the city, and it be called by my name.
28 Reúna agora o resto dos seus soldados, e o senhor ataque a cidade, e tome-a. Eu não quero ficar com a glória dessa vitória.
29 So David gathered together all the people, and went to Rabbah,and fought against it, and captured it.
29 Então Davi reuniu os seus soldados, foi até Rabá, atacou a cidade e a conquistou.
30 Then took he the crown of Milcom from off his head, the weight thereof, being a talent of gold, with the precious stones, and it remained on the head of David,the spoil of the city also, brought he forth in great abundance;
30 Moloque , o ídolo que os amonitas adoravam, tinha uma coroa que pesava mais ou menos trinta e quatro quilos. A coroa era de ouro, e nela havia uma pedra preciosa, que Davi tirou e colocou na sua própria coroa. Levou também de Rabá muitas coisas de valor.
31 the people also that were therein, brought he forth, and put them to the saw, and to threshing sledges of iron, and to axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln, and thus used he to do unto all the cities of the sons of Ammon. And David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
31 Davi fez o povo da cidade trabalhar com serras, enxadas e machados e fabricar tijolos. E fez o mesmo em todas as outras cidades de Amom. Então Davi e os seus soldados voltaram para Jerusalém.
