1 And it came to pass, in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
1 No terceiro ano de Oseias, filho de Elá, rei de Israel, começou a reinar Ezequias, filho de Acaz, rei de Judá.
2 Twenty-five years old, was he when he began to reign, and, twenty-nine years, reigned he in Jerusalem,and, his mothers name, was Abi, daughter of Zachariah.
2 Tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém; sua mãe se chamava Abi e era filha de Zacarias.
3 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh,according to all that, David his father, did.
3 Fez ele o que era reto perante o Senhor , segundo tudo o que fizera Davi, seu pai.
4 He, removed the high places, and brake in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Sacred Stem,and beat in pieces the serpent of bronze that, Moses, had made, because, until those days, had the sons of Israel been burning incense thereunto, so he called it Nehushtan.
4 Removeu os altos, quebrou as colunas e deitou abaixo o poste-ídolo; e fez em pedaços a serpente de bronze que Moisés fizera, porque até àquele dia os filhos de Israel lhe queimavam incenso e lhe chamavam Neustã.
5 In Yahweh, God of Israel, did he trust,so that, after him, was none like him, among all the kings of Judah, nor that were before him;
5 Confiou no Senhor , Deus de Israel, de maneira que depois dele não houve seu semelhante entre todos os reis de Judá, nem entre os que foram antes dele.
6 and he did cleave unto Yahweh, he turned not away from following him,but kept his commandments, which, Yahweh, commanded, Moses.
6 Porque se apegou ao Senhor , não deixou de segui-lo e guardou os mandamentos que o Senhor ordenara a Moisés.
7 So Yahweh was with him, whithersoever he went forth, he prospered,and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
7 Assim, foi o Senhor com ele; para onde quer que saía, lograva bom êxito; rebelou-se contra o rei da Assíria e não o serviu.
8 He, smote the Philistines, as far as Gazah, and her boundaries,from the watchmens tower even to the fortified city.
8 Feriu ele os filisteus até Gaza e seus limites, desde as atalaias dos vigias até à cidade fortificada.
9 And it came to pass, in the fourth year of King Hezekiahthe same, was the seventh year of Hosea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and laid siege against it;
9 No quarto ano do rei Ezequias, que era o sétimo de Oseias, filho de Elá, rei de Israel, subiu Salmaneser, rei da Assíria, contra Samaria e a cercou.
10 and he captured it at the end of three years, in the sixth year of Hezekiah,the same, is the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, was Samaria captured.
10 Ao cabo de três anos, foi tomada; sim, no ano sexto de Ezequias, que era o nono de Oseias, rei de Israel, Samaria foi tomada.
11 So the king of Assyria drave away Israel to Assyria,and settled them in Halah, and in Habor, by the river of Gozan, and the mountains of Media:
11 O rei da Assíria transportou a Israel para a Assíria e o fez habitar em Hala, junto a Habor e ao rio Gozã, e nas cidades dos medos;
12 because they hearkened not unto the voice of Yahweh their God, but transgressed his covenant, all that Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded,they neither hearkened nor performed.
12 porquanto não obedeceram à voz do Senhor , seu Deus; antes, violaram a sua aliança e tudo quanto Moisés, servo do Senhor , tinha ordenado; não o ouviram, nem o fizeram.
13 And, in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, came up Sennacherib king of Assyria, against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
13 No ano décimo quarto do rei Ezequias, subiu Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, contra todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá e as tomou.
14 Then sent Hezekiah king of Judah unto the king of Assyria, to Lachish, sayingI have sinned, Return from me, What thou shalt lay upon me, I will bear. So the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah, three hundred talents of silver, and thirty talents of gold.
14 Então, Ezequias, rei de Judá, enviou mensageiros ao rei da Assíria, a Laquis, dizendo: Errei; retira-te de mim; tudo o que me impuseres suportarei. Então, o rei da Assíria impôs a Ezequias, rei de Judá, trezentos talentos de prata e trinta talentos de ouro.
15 And Hezekiah delivered up all the silver that was found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasuries of the house of the king.
15 Deu-lhe Ezequias toda a prata que se achou na Casa do Senhor e nos tesouros da casa do rei.
16 At that time, Hezekiah cut off the doors of the temple of Yahweh, and the columns, which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid,and gave them unto the king of Assyria.
16 Foi quando Ezequias arrancou das portas do templo do Senhor e das ombreiras o ouro de que ele, rei de Judá, as cobrira, e o deu ao rei da Assíria.
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rab-shakeh, from Lachish unto King Hezekiah, with a heavy force to Jerusalem,so they came up and drew near to Jerusalem, and took their stand by the upper channel of the pool, which is in the highway of the fullers field.
17 Contudo, o rei da Assíria enviou, de Laquis, a Tartã, a Rabe-Saris e a Rabsaqué, com um grande exército, ao rei Ezequias, a Jerusalém; subiram e vieram a Jerusalém. Tendo eles subido e chegado, pararam na extremidade do aqueduto do açude superior, junto ao caminho do campo do Lavandeiro.
18 Then called they for the king, and there went out unto them Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who was over the household,and Shebnah, the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph, the recorder.
18 Tendo eles chamado o rei, saíram-lhes ao encontro Eliaquim, filho de Hilquias, o mordomo, Sebna, o escrivão, e Joá, filho de Asafe, o cronista.
19 And Rab-shakeh said unto themPray you, say unto Hezekiah,Thus, saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What trust is this wherewith thou dost trust?
19 Rabsaqué lhes disse: Dizei a Ezequias: Assim diz o sumo rei, o rei da Assíria: Que confiança é essa em que te estribas?
20 Thou hast saidthey are only words of the lips!Counsel and might for the war. Now, in whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
20 Bem posso dizer-te que teu conselho e poder para guerra não passam de vãs palavras; em quem, pois, agora, confias, para que te rebeles contra mim?
21 Now, lo! thou dost trust thyself on the support of this bruised cane, on Egypt, whereon, if a man lean, it will enter his hand and lay it open,so, is Pharaoh king of Egypt, to all who trust upon him.
21 Confias no Egito, esse bordão de cana esmagada, o qual, se alguém nele apoiar-se, lhe entrará pela mão e a traspassará; assim é Faraó, rei do Egito, para com todos os que nele confiam.
22 But, if ye should say unto me, In Yahweh our God, do we trust, Then is that not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath removed, and said unto Judah, and unto JerusalemBefore this altar, shall ye bow down, in Jerusalem?
22 Mas, se me dizeis: Confiamos no Senhor , nosso Deus, não é esse aquele cujos altos e altares Ezequias removeu, dizendo a Judá e a Jerusalém: Perante este altar adorareis em Jerusalém?
23 Now, therefore, pledge thyself, I pray thee, with my lord, the king of Assyria,that I supply thee with two thousand horses, if thou, on thy part, be able to set riders upon them.
23 Ora, pois, empenha-te com meu senhor, rei da Assíria, e dar-te-ei dois mil cavalos, se de tua parte achares cavaleiros para os montar.
24 How then wilt thou turn back the face of one pasha of the least of my lords servants? Or hast thou, on thy part, trusted to Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
24 Como, pois, se não podes afugentar um só capitão dos menores dos servos do meu senhor, confias no Egito, por causa dos carros e cavaleiros?
25 Now, is it, without Yahweh, that I have come up against this place, to destroy it? Yahweh himself, said unto me, Go thou up against this land, and destroy it.
25 Acaso, subi eu, agora, sem o Senhor contra este lugar, para o destruir? Pois o Senhor mesmo me disse: Sobe contra a terra e destrói-a.
26 Then said Eliakim son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rab-shakeh: Speak, we pray thee, unto thy servants in the, Syrian, language, for, we, can, understand, it,and do not speak with us in, the Jews, language, in the ears of the people who are upon the wall.
26 Então, disseram Eliaquim, filho de Hilquias, Sebna e Joá a Rabsaqué: Rogamos-te que fales em aramaico aos teus servos, porque o entendemos, e não nos fales em judaico, aos ouvidos do povo que está sobre as muralhas.
27 But Rab-shakeh said unto themIs it, concerning thy lord, and concerning thee, that my lord hath sent me to speak these things? Is it not concerning the men who are tarrying upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung and drink their own water with you?
27 Mas Rabsaqué lhes respondeu: Mandou-me, acaso, o meu senhor para dizer-te estas palavras a ti somente e a teu senhor? E não, antes, aos homens que estão sentados sobre as muralhas, para que comam convosco o seu próprio excremento e bebam a sua própria urina?
28 So then Rab-shakeh took his stand, and cried out with a loud voice, in, the Jews, language,and spake, and said, Hear ye the message of the great king, the king of Assyria:
28 Então, Rabsaqué se pôs em pé, e clamou em alta voz em judaico, e disse: Ouvi as palavras do sumo rei, do rei da Assíria.
29 Thus, saith the king: Let not Hezekiah deceive you, for he shall not he able to deliver you out of his hand;
29 Assim diz o rei: Não vos engane Ezequias; porque não vos poderá livrar da sua mão;
30 Neither let Hezekiah cause you to trust in Yahweh, saying, Yahweh, will, certainly deliver, us,this city, therefore, shall not be given over into the hand of the king of Assyria.
30 nem tampouco vos faça Ezequias confiar no Senhor , dizendo: O Senhor , certamente, nos livrará, e esta cidade não será entregue nas mãos do rei da Assíria.
31 Do not hearken unto Hezekiah,for, thus, saith the king of Assyria, Deal with me thankfully, and come out unto me, then shall ye eatevery one of his own vine, and every one of his own fig-tree, and drink every one the waters of his own cistern;
31 Não deis ouvidos a Ezequias; porque assim diz o rei da Assíria: Fazei as pazes comigo e vinde para mim; e comei, cada um da sua própria vide e da sua própria figueira, e bebei, cada um da água da sua própria cisterna.
32 Until I come and take you, into a land like your own landA land of corn and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and honey, so shall ye live, and not die,But do not hearken unto Hezekiah, for he would persuade you, saying, Yahweh, will deliver us!
32 Até que eu venha e vos leve para uma terra como a vossa, terra de cereal e de vinho, terra de pão e de vinhas, terra de oliveiras e de mel, para que vivais e não morrais. Não deis ouvidos a Ezequias, porque vos engana, dizendo: O Senhor nos livrará.
33 Have, the gods of the nations, at all delivered, any one of them, his country, out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
33 Acaso, os deuses das nações puderam livrar, cada um a sua terra, das mãos do rei da Assíria?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Yea, did they deliver Samaria out of my hand?
34 Onde estão os deuses de Hamate e de Arpade? Onde estão os deuses de Sefarvaim, Hena e Iva? Acaso, livraram eles a Samaria das minhas mãos?
35 Who are they, among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country, out of my hand,that, Yahweh, should deliver, Jerusalem, out of my hand?
35 Quais são, dentre todos os deuses destes países, os que livraram a sua terra das minhas mãos, para que o Senhor possa livrar a Jerusalém das minhas mãos?
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word,for, the command of the king, it was, sayingYe must not answer him.
36 Calou-se, porém, o povo e não lhe respondeu palavra; porque assim lhe havia ordenado o rei: Não lhe respondereis.
37 Then came in Eliakim son of Hilkiah who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder, unto Hezekiah, with rent clothes,and they told him the words of Rab-shakeh.
37 Então, Eliaquim, filho de Hilquias, o mordomo, e Sebna, o escrivão, e Joá, filho de Asafe, o cronista, vieram ter com Ezequias, com suas vestes rasgadas, e lhe referiram as palavras de Rabsaqué.
