1 Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, when, he, was sixteen years old,and made him king, instead of his father Amaziah.
1 Todo o povo de Judá tomou por rei a Ozias, então com a idade de dezesseis anos, e o entronizou em lugar de seu pai Amasias.
2 He, built Eloth, and restored it to Judah,after that the king slept with his fathers.
2 Foi ele quem reedificou Elat e fez voltar essa cidade ao domínio de Judá, depois que o rei adormeceu com seus pais.
3 Sixteen years old, was Uzziah, when he began to reign, and, fifty-two years, reigned he in Jerusalem,-and, the name of his mother, was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.
3 Tinha Ozias a idade de dezesseis anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou cinqüenta e dois anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe chamava-se Jequelia e era de Jerusalém.
4 And he did that which was right, in the eyes of Yahweh,according to all that Amaziah his father had done.
4 Fez o bem aos olhos do Senhor, como tinha feito seu pai Amasias.
5 And it came to pass that he set himself to seek God, in the days of Zechariah, who gave understanding in the seeing of God,and, throughout the days of his seeking Yahweh, God, prospered him.
5 Aplicou-se a honrar a Deus durante a vida de Zacarias, que o instruiu no temor de Deus. Enquanto honrou ao Senhor, Deus o fez prosperar.
6 So he went forth and made war against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod,and built cities in Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
6 Fez uma expedição contra os filisteus. Derrubou a muralha de Get, a de Jabnia e a de Azot; construiu cidades no território de Azot e na terra dos filisteus.
7 And God helped him against the Philistines and against the Arabians who dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Meunim.
7 Deus o ajudou contra os filisteus, contra os árabes de Gurbaal, e contra os maonitas.
8 And the Ammonites gave a present to Uzziah,and his name went forth as far as the entering in of Egypt, for he shewed exceeding great strength.
8 Os amonitas lhe pagaram tributo, e sua fama se fortificou de tal modo, que se estendeu até os confins do Egito.
9 And Uzziah built towers, in Jerusalem, over the corner-gate, and over the valley-gate, and over the angle,and he made them strong.
9 Levantou torres fortificadas em Jerusalém, na porta do ângulo, na porta do vale e no ângulo.
10 And he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells, for, much cattle, had he, both in the lowland, and in the plain,husbandmen and vinedressers, in the mountains and in the fruitful field, for, a lover of the soil, was he.
10 Construiu também torres no deserto, onde cavou numerosos poços, pois possuía ali numerosos rebanhos, tanto na planície como no planalto. Tinha lavradores e vinhateiros nas montanhas e nos pomares, porque se interessava pela agricultura.
11 And it came to pass that Uzziah had a force ready to make war, to go forth as a host in company, by the number of their reckoning, under the direction of Jeiel the scribe, and Maaseiah the officer,under the direction of Hananiah, from among the captains of the king.
11 Ozias tinha um exército de guerreiros que saíam por turmas ao combate, contados segundo o recenseamento deles, feito pelo escriba Jeiel e o comissário Maasias, sob a direção de Hananias, um dos generais do rei.
12 The whole number of the ancestral chiefs pertaining to the heroes of valour, was two thousand and six hundred;
12 O número total dos chefes de família, guerreiros valentes, era de dois mil e seiscentos.
13 and, under their direction, was the force of a host, three hundred and seven thousand five hundred, ready to make war, with the strength of a force,for helping the king against an enemy.
13 O exército que comandavam era de trezentos e sete mil e quinhentos homens, que faziam a guerra com valor suficiente para ajudar o rei contra o inimigo.
14 And Uzziah prepared for them, for all the host, bucklers and spears and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows,and yea even sling-stones.
14 A todo esse exército Ozias fornecia escudos, lanças, capacetes, couraças, arcos e pedras de funda.
15 And he made in Jerusalem, inventions invented of the inventor, to be upon the towers and upon the turrets, for throwing with arrows, and with great stones,so that his name went forth afar, for he was marvellously helped, until that he was strong.
15 Mandou construir em Jerusalém, pelos cuidados de um engenheiro, máquinas para serem colocadas nas torres e nos ângulos das muralhas, que atiravam flechas e grandes pedras. Sua fama se estendeu ao longe, pois Deus fez maravilhas para ajudá-lo a adquirir um grande poder.
16 But, when he became strong, uplifted was his heart, unto ruin, for he acted unfaithfully against Yahweh his God,and entered into the temple of Yahweh, to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
16 Mas, apenas sentiu-se ele poderoso, seu coração encheu-se de orgulho, para sua desgraça. Cometeu uma falta contra o Senhor, seu Deus, entrando no templo do Senhor para queimar incenso no altar dos perfumes.
17 Then entered after him, Azariah the priest,and with him eighty priests of Yahweh, sons of valour;
17 O sacerdote, Azarias, com oitenta corajosos sacerdotes do Senhor, seguiram-no.
18 and they took their stand against Uzziah the king, and said unto him-It is not, for thee, O Uzziah, to burn incense unto Yahweh, but, for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are hallowed, to burn incense. Go forth out of the sanctuary, for thou hast acted unfaithfully, and, not to thee, for an honour, from Yahweh Elohim.
18 Resistiram ao rei Ozias e lhe disseram: Não compete a ti, Ozias, queimar incenso ao Senhor, mas aos sacerdotes da estirpe de Aarão, que foram consagrados para esse fim. Sai do santuário, porque prevaricaste, e isso não será para ti honra diante do Senhor Deus.
19 Then was Uzziah wroth, and, in his hand, was a censer, to burn incense,and, when he was wroth with the priests, a leprosy, shot forth in his forehead, before the priests, in the house of Yahweh, from off the altar of incense.
19 Então Ozias, tendo na mão o turíbulo, encolerizou-se; mas, durante esse acesso de cólera, apareceu a lepra em sua fronte, ali, no templo do Senhor, na presença dos sacerdotes, diante do altar dos perfumes.
20 When Azariah the chief priest and all the priests turned towards him, lo! he, was leprous, in his forehead, so they hastened him from thence,yea, even he himself, hurried to go out, because Yahweh had smitten him.
20 O sumo sacerdote Azarias e todos os outros sacerdotes, olhando-o, viram essa lepra que ele tinha na fronte. Precipitadamente fizeram-no sair; aliás, ele próprio se apressou em sair, sentindo-se ferido pelo Senhor.
21 And it came to pass that, Uzziah the king, was a leper until the day of his death, and dwelt in a house aparta leper, for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh,and, Jotham his son, was over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.
21 O rei Ozias ficou leproso até a morte. Como tal, viveu numa casa isolada. Estava excluído do templo do Senhor, e seu filho Joatão governava o palácio e julgava o povo da terra.
22 Now, the rest of the story of Uzziah, first and last, hath Isaiah son of Amoz, the prophet, written.
22 O profeta Isaías relatou os outros atos de Ozias, desde os primeiros até os últimos.
23 And Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial that pertained unto the kings, for they said, A leper, he is. And Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
23 Ozias adormeceu entre seus pais e foi sepultado perto deles, no campo da sepultura dos reis, porque diziam: Ele era leproso. Seu filho Joatão sucedeu-lhe no trono.
