1 Seven years old, was Joash when he began to reign, and, forty years, reigned he, in Jerusalem,and, the name of his mother, was Zibiah, of Beersheba.
1 Joás tinha sete anos de idade quando começou a reinar; e reinou quarenta anos em Jerusalém. E o nome da sua mãe era Zíbia de Berseba.
2 And Joash did that which was right, in the eyes of Yahweh,-all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
2 E Joás fez aquilo que era reto aos olhos do SENHOR todos os dias de Joiada, o sacerdote.
3 And Jehoiada took for him two wives,and he begat sons and daughters.
3 E Joiada tomou para ele duas esposas; e ele gerou filhos e filhas.
4 And it came to pass, after this, that it was near the heart of Joash to renew the house of Yahweh.
4 E sucedeu depois disso, que Joás estava disposto a reparar a casa do SENHOR.
5 So he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said unto themGo ye out unto the cities of Judah, and gather out of all Israel silver to repair the house of your God, year by year, and, ye, shall hasten the matter,but the Levites hastened it not.
5 E ele reuniu os sacerdotes e os levitas, e disse-lhes: Saí para as cidades de Judá, e reuni de todo o Israel dinheiro para reparar a casa do vosso Deus de ano em ano, e vede para que apressais o negócio. Todavia, os levitas não se apressaram.
6 Then the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Wherefore hast thou not required of the Levites, to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the tribute of Moses the servant of Yahweh, and of the convocation of Israel,for the tent of testimony?
6 E o rei chamou Joiada, o chefe, e disse a ele: Por que não obrigaste os levitas a trazer de Judá e de Jerusalém a coleta, segundo o mandamento de Moisés, o servo do SENHOR, e da congregação de Israel, para o tabernáculo do testemunho?
7 For, as for Athaliah the Lawless, her sons, brake up the House of God,moreover, all the hallowed things of the house of Yahweh, offered they unto the Baalim.
7 Porque os filhos de Atalia, aquela mulher iníqua, tinham destruído a casa de Deus; e também todas as coisas dedicadas da casa do SENHOR eles entregaram aos baalins.
8 So the king bade , and they made a certain chest,and set it in the gate of the house of Yahweh, outside.
8 E diante da ordem do rei eles fizeram um baú, e o colocaram na parte exterior, junto ao portão da casa do SENHOR.
9 And they made a proclamation, throughout Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in unto Yahweh the tribute of Moses the servant of God, laid upon Israel in the desert.
9 E eles fizeram uma proclamação por Judá e Jerusalém para que trouxessem até o SENHOR a coleta que Moisés, o servo de Deus, lançou sobre Israel no deserto.
10 And all the rulers and all the people rejoiced,and brought in and cast into the chest, until they had finished.
10 E todos os príncipes e todo o povo regozijaram-se, e a trouxeram, e a lançaram dentro do baú, até que terminaram.
11 And it came to pass, what time the chest was brought into the office of the king by the hand of the Levites, and when they had seen that abundant was the silver, that the scribe of the king came in, and the officer of the chief priest, and they emptied the chest, and bare it, and put it back in its place,thus, they did, day by day, and collected silver, in abundance;
11 Ora, sucedeu que no momento em que o baú foi trazido para o ofício do rei pelas mãos dos levitas, e vendo que havia muito dinheiro, o escriba do rei e o oficial do sumo sacerdote vinham e esvaziavam o baú, e o tomavam, e o carregavam novamente para o seu lugar. Assim faziam dia após dia, e recolhiam dinheiro em abundância.
12 and the king and Jehoiada gave it unto such as were doing the work of labouring upon the house of Yahweh, and they were hiring masons and carpenters, to renew the house of Yahweh,moreover also, such as were fashioners of iron and bronze, to repair the house of Yahweh.
12 E o rei e Joiada o davam aos que faziam a obra do serviço da casa do SENHOR, e contratavam pedreiros e carpinteiros para repararem a casa do SENHOR, e também aos que confeccionavam ferro e bronze para consertar a casa do SENHOR.
13 So the doers of the work wrought, and the work of restoration went forward, in their hand,and they caused the house of God to stand forth according to its due proportions, and made it strong.
13 Assim, trabalhavam os oficiais, e a obra era aperfeiçoada por eles, e eles deixaram a casa de Deus no seu estado, e a reforçaram.
14 And, when they had finished, they brought in before the king and Jehoiada the rest of the silver, and he made it into utensils for the house of Yahweh, utensils of attendance, and bowls and spoons, even utensils of gold and silver. Then were they offering ascending-sacrifices in the house of Yahweh, continually, all the days of Jehoiada.
14 E quando eles a terminaram, trouxeram o restante do dinheiro diante do rei e de Joiada, do qual foram feitos os vasos para a casa do SENHOR, a saber, vasos tanto para se ministrar, como para se oferecer, e colheres, e vasos de ouro e prata. E eles ofereceram ofertas queimadas na casa do SENHOR continuamente, todos os dias de Joiada.
15 But Jehoiada waxed old and became satisfied with days, and died,a hundred and thirty years old, when he died.
15 Todavia, Joiada ficou velho, e cheio de dias quando morreu; e ele tinha cento e trinta anos de idade quando morreu.
16 And they buried him in the city of David, with the kings,because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and his house.
16 E eles o sepultaram na cidade de Davi, entre os reis, porque ele havia feito o bem em Israel, tanto para com Deus, como para com a sua casa.
17 Now, after the death of Jehoiada, came the rulers of Judah, and bowed themselves down unto the king,then, hearkened the king unto them.
17 Ora, depois da morte de Joiada vieram os príncipes de Judá, e fizeram reverência ao rei. Então, o rei atentou a eles.
18 And they forsook the house of Yahweh, God of their fathers, and served the Sacred Stems, and the images,so there was wrath against Judah and Jerusalem, for this their guilt.
18 E eles saíram da casa do SENHOR Deus dos seus pais, e serviram aos bosques e ídolos; e a ira veio sobre Judá e Jerusalém por causa da sua transgressão.
19 And he sent among them prophets, to bring them back unto Yahweh,and they testified against them, but they would not give ear.
19 Contudo, ele enviou profetas entre eles, para trazê-los de volta ao SENHOR; os quais testificaram contra eles; mas eles não quiseram dar ouvido.
20 And, the spirit of God, clothed Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest, and he took his stand above the people,and said unto them, Thus, saith God, Wherefore are, ye, transgressing the commandments of Yahweh, so that ye cannot prosper, because ye have forsaken Yahweh, therefore hath he forsaken you.
20 E o Espírito de Deus veio sobre Zacarias, o filho de Joiada, o sacerdote, o qual se pôs de pé acima do povo, e disse-lhes: Assim diz Deus: Por que transgredis os mandamentos do SENHOR, de modo que não podeis prosperar? Porque vós abandonastes o SENHOR, ele também vos abandonará.
21 So they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones, by the commandment of the king,in the court of the house of Yahweh.
21 E conspiraram contra ele, e o apedrejaram com pedras, por mandamento do rei, no átrio da casa do SENHOR.
22 Thus Joash the king, remembered not, the lovingkindness which Jehoiada his father had done for him, but slew his son,and, as he died, he said, Yahweh see and require!
22 Assim o rei Joás não se lembrou da bondade que Joiada, o seu pai, havia-lhe feito, mas matou o seu filho. E, quando morreu, ele disse: O SENHOR olha por isto e o requererá.
23 And it came to pass, when the year had gone round, that the force of Syria came up against him, and they entered Judah, and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the rulers of the people, from among the people,and, all the spoil of them, sent they unto the king of Damascus.
23 E sucedeu, no fim do ano, que o exército da Síria subiu contra ele; e vieram para Judá e Jerusalém, e destruíram dentre o povo a todos os seus príncipes, e enviaram todo o despojo deles ao rei de Damasco.
24 Although, with a comparatively few men, came the force of Syria, yet, Yahweh, delivered into their hand an exceeding large force,because they had forsaken Yahweh, the God of their fathers,and, upon Joash, executed they judgments.
24 Porque o exército dos sírios veio com uma pequena companhia de homens, e o SENHOR entregou um mui grande exército na sua mão, porque eles haviam abandonado o SENHOR Deus dos seus pais. Assim eles executaram juízo contra Joás.
25 And, when they had departed from him, for they left him with sore diseases, his own servants conspired against him, for the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him upon his bed, and he died,and, though they buried him in the city of David, yet did they not bury him in the sepulchres of the kings.
25 E, retirando-se dele (pois em grandes enfermidades o deixaram), os seus próprios servos conspiraram contra ele por causa do sangue dos filhos de Joiada, o sacerdote, e o mataram na sua cama, e ele morreu; e o sepultaram na cidade de Davi, porém não o sepultaram nos sepulcros dos reis.
26 Now, these, are they that conspired against him,Zabad son of Shimeath the Ammonitess, and Jehozabad son of Shimrith the Moabitess.
26 E estes são os que conspiraram contra ele: Zabade, o filho de Simeate, a amonita; e Jozabade, o filho de Sinrite, a moabita.
27 But, as for his sons, and the greatness of the oracle on him, and the foundation of the house of God, lo! there they are written, in the commentary of the Book of Kings,and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
27 Ora, quanto a seus filhos, e à grandeza do cargo que foi lançado sobre eles, e à restauração da casa de Deus, eis que estão escritos na história do livro dos reis. Em seu lugar reinou seu filho Amazias.
