1 And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned unto his own house in peace, to Jerusalem.
1 E Josafá, o rei de Judá, retornou em paz para a sua casa em Jerusalém.
2 And there came out to meet him, Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, who said unto King Jehoshaphat, Unto the lawless, was it to give help? and, on them who hate Yahweh, to bestow thy love? For this cause, therefore, is there wrath against thee, from before Yahweh;
2 E Jeú, o filho de Hanani, o vidente, saiu a seu encontro, e disse ao rei Josafá: Deverias tu ajudar os ímpios, e amar aqueles que odeiam o SENHOR? Por isso virá sobre ti grande ira da parte do SENHOR.
3 howbeit, good things, are found with thee,-for that thou hast consumed the Sacred Stems out of the land, and hast fixed thy heart to seek God.
3 Todavia, há boas coisas encontradas em ti, ao teres removido os bosques da terra, e teres preparado o teu coração para buscares a Deus.
4 So Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem,and he again went forth among the people, from Beersheba as far as the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back unto Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
4 E Josafá habitou em Jerusalém; e ele saiu novamente pelo meio do povo, de Berseba até o monte Efraim, e os trouxe de volta ao SENHOR Deus dos seus pais.
5 And he stationed judges in the land, throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city;
5 E ele pôs juízes na terra, em todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá, cidade por cidade,
6 and said unto the judges, See what, ye, are doing, inasmuch as, not for man, must ye judge, but for Yahweh,who will be with you, in the word of justice.
6 e disse aos juízes: Vede o que fazeis; porque não julgais da parte do homem, senão da parte do SENHOR, e ele está convosco quando julgardes.
7 Now, therefore, let the dread of Yahweh be upon you,observe and do, for there is, with Yahweh our God, neither perversity nor respect of persons nor the taking of bribes.
7 Porquanto, agora, que o temor do SENHOR seja sobre vós; atentai e fazei-o; porque não há iniquidade com o SENHOR nosso Deus, nem acepção de pessoas, nem aceitação de presentes.
8 And, even in Jerusalem, did Jehoshaphat station some of the Levites and the priests, and of the ancestral chiefs of Israel, to pronounce the just sentence of Yahweh, and to settle disputes,when they returned to Jerusalem.
8 Além disso, em Jerusalém Josafá colocou os levitas, e os sacerdotes, e os chefes dos pais de Israel, para o juízo do SENHOR, e para controvérsias, e voltaram a Jerusalém.
9 And he laid charge upon them, saying,Thus, shall ye act, in the fear of Yahweh, faithfully and with an undivided heart.
9 E ele os encarregou, dizendo: Assim fareis no temor do SENHOR, fielmente, e com um coração perfeito.
10 Any dispute that shall come in unto you from among your brethren who are dwelling in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment and statutes and regulations, then shall ye warn them, that they may not become guilty against Yahweh, and so wrath come upon you and upon your brethren,Thus, shall ye act, and not incur guilt.
10 E qualquer que seja a causa que vier até vós dos vossos irmãos que habitam nas cidades, entre sangue e sangue, entre lei e mandamento, estatutos e juízos, vós, adverti-los-ei para que não transgridam contra o SENHOR, e assim venha a ira sobre vós, e sobre os vossos irmãos; fazei isso, e vós não transgredireis.
11 And lo! Amariah the chief priest, is over you as to every matter of Yahweh, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael the chief ruler for the house of Judah, as to every matter of the king, and, as officers, the Levites are before you,Be strong and act, and Yahweh be with the good!
11 E, eis que Amarias, o sumo sacerdote está sobre vós em todas as questões do SENHOR; e Zebadias, o filho de Ismael, o soberano da casa de Judá, em todos os assuntos do rei; também os levitas serão oficiais diante de vós. Procedei corajosamente, e o SENHOR será com os bons.
