1 Let, as many as are servants under a yoke, be counting, their own masters, worthy, of all honour, lest, the name of God and the teaching, be defamed.
1 Todos os que vivem sob o jugo da servidão considerem seus senhores dignos de toda honra, para que não sejam caluniados o nome de Deus e sua doutrina.
2 They, however, that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are, brethren but, the more, be doing them service, because, believing and beloved, are they who, from the good workmanship, receive advantage. These things, be teaching, and exhorting:
2 E os que têm patrões que abraçaram a fé, nem por isto os menosprezem, sob pretexto de serem irmãos. Ao contrário, deverão servi-los ainda melhor, pelo fato de que eles são fiéis amados de Deus e participantes de seus benefícios. Tal deve ser o tema de teus ensinamentos e de tuas exortações.
3 If anyone doth otherwise teach, and doth not adhere to healthful discoursesthose of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching that is, according to godliness,
3 Quem ensina de outra forma e discorda das salutares palavras de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, bem como da doutrina conforme à piedade,
4 He is beclouded, knowing, nothing, rightly, but is diseased about questionings, and word-battlesout of which spring envy, strife, defamations, wicked surmising,
4 é um obcecado pelo orgulho, um ignorante, doentio por questões ociosas e contendas de palavras. Daí se originam a inveja, a discórdia, os insultos, as suspeitas injustas,
5 incessant quarrellings of men wholly corrupt in their mind and bereft of the truth,supposing godliness to be, a means of gain!
5 os vãos conflitos entre homens de coração corrompido e privados da verdade, que só vêem na piedade uma fonte de lucro.
6 Now it is a great means of gaingodliness, with a sufficiency of ones own;
6 Sem dúvida, grande fonte de lucro é a piedade, porém quando acompanhada de espírito de desprendimento.
7 For, nothing, brought we into the world, neither, to take anything out, are we able;
7 Porque nada trouxemos ao mundo, como tampouco nada poderemos levar.
8 And, having sustenance and covering, we shall be content;
8 Tendo alimento e vestuário, contentemo-nos com isto.
9 But, they who are determined to be rich, fall into temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful covetings, the which, sink men into ruin and destruction,
9 Aqueles que ambicionam tornar-se ricos caem nas armadilhas do demônio e em muitos desejos insensatos e nocivos, que precipitam os homens no abismo da ruína e da perdição.
10 For, a root of all the vices, is the love of money, which, some, being eager for, have been seduced from the faith, and have pierced, themselves, about with many pangs.
10 Porque a raiz de todos os males é o amor ao dinheiro. Acossados pela cobiça, alguns se desviaram da fé e se enredaram em muitas aflições.
11 But, thou, O man of God! from these things, flee! and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, meekness;
11 Mas tu, ó homem de Deus, foge desses vícios e procura com todo empenho a piedade, a fé, a caridade, a paciência, a mansidão.
12 Be contesting the noble contest of the faith,lay hold of the age-abiding lifeunto which thou wast called, and didst make the noble confession before many witnesses.
12 Combate o bom combate da fé. Conquista a vida eterna, para a qual foste chamado e fizeste aquela nobre profissão de fé perante muitas testemunhas.
13 I charge thee, before God, who engendereth life in all things, and Christ Jesus, who, before Pontius Pilate, witnessed the noble confession,
13 Em presença de Deus, que dá a vida a todas as coisas, e de Cristo Jesus, que ante Pôncio Pilatos abertamente testemunhou a verdade,
14 That thou keep the commandment without spot, free from reproach, until the forthshining of our Lord Jesus Christ
14 recomendo-te que guardes o mandamento sem mácula, irrepreensível, até a aparição de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
15 Which, in its own fit times, the happy and only Potentate will shewthe King of them that reign, and Lord of them that wield lordship,
15 a qual a seu tempo será realizada pelo bem-aventurado e único Soberano, Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores,
16 Who alone hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable,Whom no man hath seennor can see: unto whom, be honour and might age-abiding. Amen.
16 o único que possui a imortalidade e habita em luz inacessível, a quem nenhum homem viu, nem pode ver. A ele, honra e poder eterno! Amém.
17 Upon them who are rich in the present age, lay thou chargenot to be high-minded, nor to have set their hope on, riches, uncertainty,but on God, who offereth us all things richly for enjoying,
17 Exorta os ricos deste mundo a que não sejam orgulhosos nem ponham sua esperança nas riquezas volúveis, mas em Deus, que nos dá abundantemente todas as coisas para delas fruirmos.
18 To be doing good, to be rich in noble works, to be, generous in giving, ready for fellowship,
18 Que pratiquem o bem, se enriqueçam de boas obras, sejam generosos, comunicativos,
19 Treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may lay hold on the life indeed.
19 ajuntem um tesouro sólido e excelente para seu futuro, a fim de conquistarem a verdadeira vida.
20 O Timothy! that which hath been entrusted, do thou guard, avoiding the profane pratings and oppositions of falsely named knowledge,
20 Ó Timóteo, guarda o bem que te foi confiado! Evita as conversas frívolas e mundanas, assim como as contradições de pretensa ciência.
21 Which, some professing, concerning the faith, have missed the mark! Favour be with you.
21 Alguns, por segui-las, se transviaram da fé. A graça esteja convosco.
