1 Putting away, therefore, all vice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envyings and all detractions,
1 Deixando, pois, toda a malícia, todo o engano, e fingimentos, e invejas, e toda a maledicência,
2 As new-born babes, for the pure milk that is for the mind, eagerly crave, that, thereby, ye may grow unto salvation:
2 desejai, como meninos recém-nascidos, o leite racional, sem dolo, para que por ele cresçais para a salvação,
3 If ye have tasted for yourselves that, gracious, is the Lord,
3 se é que já provastes que o Senhor é benigno.
4 Unto whom coming near, as unto a living stoneby men, indeed, rejected, but, with God, chosen, held in honour,
4 e, chegando-vos para ele, pedra viva, rejeitada, na verdade, pelos homens, mas, para com Deus eleita e preciosa,
5 Yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices, well-pleasing unto God through Jesus Christ;
5 sois vós também quais pedras vivas, edificados como casa espiritual para serdes um sacerdócio santo, a fim de oferecerdes sacrifícios espirituais, aceitáveis a Deus por Jesus Cristo.
6 Inasmuch as it is contained in scriptureLo! I lay in Zion an outmost corner stone, chosen, held in honour, and, he that resteth faith thereupon, shall not be put to shame.
6 Por isso é que se acha na Escritura: Eis que ponho em Sião a principal pedra angular, eleita e preciosa, E aquele que nele crê, não será envergonhado.
7 Unto you, then, is the honour who believe; but, unto such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected,The same, hath become head of the corner,
7 Para vós, portanto, que credes é a honra; mas para aqueles que descrêem, A pedra que os edificadores rejeitaram, Esta foi posta como a pedra angular
8 And a stone to strike against, and a rock to stumble over: Who stumble because, unto the word, they do not yield,unto which also they have been appointed;
8 e Como uma pedra de tropeço e uma rocha de escândalo; porque tropeçam na palavra, sendo desobedientes, para o que também foram postos.
9 But, ye, are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a peculiar treasure, that, the excellences, ye may tell forth, of him who, out of darkness, hath called you into his marvellous light:
9 Mas vós sois a geração eleita, o sacerdócio real, a nação santa, o povo todo seu para que proclameis as grandezas daquele que vos chamou das trevas para a sua maravilhosa luz,
10 Who, at one time, were a No-people, but, now, are a people of God,who had not been enjoying mercy, but, now, have received mercy.
10 vós que em outro tempo éreis não povo, mas agora sois povo de Deus, vós que não havíeis alcançado misericórdia, mas agora a tendes alcançado.
11 Beloved! I exhort you, as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly covetings, such as take the field against the soul;
11 Amados, rogo-vos como peregrinos e forasteiros, que vos abstenhais dos desejos carnais, que combatem contra a alma,
12 Having, your behaviour among the nations, honourable,in order that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may, owing to the honourable works they are permitted to behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
12 tendo o vosso procedimento bom entre os gentios, a fim de que, naquilo em que murmuram de vós como de malfeitores, considerando-vos pelas vossas obras, glorifiquem a Deus no dia da visitação.
13 Submit yourselves unto every human creation, for the Lords sake,whether unto a king, as one that protecteth,
13 Sujeitai-vos a toda autoridade humana por amor do Senhor, quer ao rei, como soberano,
14 Or unto governors, as, through him, sentfor vengeance on evil-doers, but praise to such as do good;
14 quer seja ao rei como supremo, quer seja aos governadores, como enviados por ele para castigo dos malfeitores e para louvor dos que fazem o bem.
15 Because, so, is the will of God,by doing good, to be putting to silence, the ignorance of heedless men:
15 Porque assim é a vontade de Deus, que, fazendo o bem, façais emudecer a ignorância dos homens imprudentes,
16 As free, yet, not as a cloak of vice, holding your freedom, but, as Gods servants.
16 como livres, e não tendo a vossa liberdade para capa da malícia, mas como servos de Deus.
17 Unto all men, give honour, unto the brotherhood, shew love, unto God, give reverence, the king, hold in honour.
17 Honrai a todos, amai a irmandade, temei a Deus, respeitai ao rei.
18 Ye domestics, submitting yourselves, in all reverence, unto your masters,not only unto the good and considerate, but also unto the perverse;
18 Servos, sede sujeitos com todo o temor a vossos senhores, não somente aos bons e moderados, mas também aos perversos.
19 For, this, is thankworthy,If, for the sake of conscience towards God, one beareth griefs, suffering wrongfully,
19 Pois isto é agradável, se alguém, por ser cônscio de Deus, suporta tristezas, padecendo injustamente.
20 For what sort of honour is itif, committing sin, and being buffeted, ye endure it? But, if, doing good, and suffering, ye endure it, this, is thankworthy with God.
20 Pois que glória é, se sofreis com paciência, quando cometeis pecado, e sois por isso esbofeteados? mas se sofreis com paciência, quando fazeis o bem e por isso padeceis, isto é agradável a Deus.
21 For, hereunto, have ye been called; because, Christ also, suffered in your behalf, unto you, leaving behind a pattern, that ye might follow in his steps:
21 Pois para isto fostes chamados, porquanto também Cristo padeceu por vós, deixando-vos exemplo, para que sigais as suas pisadas.
22 Who did not, a sin, commit, neither was deceit found in his mouth,
22 Ele não cometeu pecado, nem tão pouco foi achado engano na sua boca,
23 Who, being reviled, was not reviling again, suffering, he was not threatening, but was making surrender unto him that judgeth righteously,
23 sendo injuriado, não injuriava, padecendo, não ameaçava, mas entregava-se àquele que julga justamente,
24 Who, our sins, himself, bare up, in his body, unto the tree, in order that we, from our sins getting away, in righteousness, might live,by whose stripes, ye have been healed;
24 levando ele próprio os nossos pecados em seu corpo sobre o madeiro, a fim de que, mortos aos pecados, vivamos à justiça. Por suas feridas fostes sarados.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray, but have now turned back unto the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
25 Pois éreis desgarrados como ovelhas, mas agora vos haveis convertido ao Pastor e Bispo das vossas almas.
