1 Beloved! not in every spirit, believe ye, but test the spirits, whether they are, of God; because, many false prophets, have gone out into the world.
1 Amados, não acreditem em todo espírito, mas ponham-no à prova para ter a certeza de que o espírito vem de Deus, pois há muitos falsos profetas no mundo.
2 Hereby, do ye perceive the Spirit of God:every spirit that confesseth Jesus Christ as having come, in flesh, is, of God;
2 Assim sabemos se eles têm o Espírito de Deus: todo espírito que reconhece que Jesus Cristo veio em corpo humano é de Deus,
3 And, every spirit that doth not confess Jesus, of God, is not. And, this, is the
3 mas todo espírito que não reconhece a verdade a respeito de Jesus não é de Deus. Esse é o espírito do anticristo, sobre o qual vocês ouviram que viria ao mundo e, de fato, já está aqui.
4 Ye, are, of God, dear children, and have overcome them; because, greater, is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
4 Filhinhos, vocês pertencem a Deus e já venceram os falsos profetas, pois o Espírito que está em vocês é maior que o espírito que está no mundo.
5 They, are, of the world: For this cause, of the world, they speak, and the world, unto them, doth hearken.
5 Eles pertencem a este mundo, portanto falam do ponto de vista do mundo, e o mundo os ouve.
6 We, are, of God: he that is getting to understand God, hearkeneth unto us,whoso is not of God, hearkeneth not unto us: from this, perceive wethe spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
6 Nós, porém, pertencemos a Deus. Quem conhece a Deus nos ouve, mas quem não conhece a Deus não nos ouve. Desse modo sabemos se alguém tem o Espírito da verdade ou o espírito do erro.
7 Beloved! let us be loving one another; because, love, is, of God, and, whosoever loveth, of God, hath been born, and is getting to understand God:
7 Amados, continuemos a amar uns aos outros, pois o amor vem de Deus. Quem ama é nascido de Deus e conhece a Deus.
8 He that doth not love, doth not understand God, because, God, is, love.
8 Quem não ama não conhece a Deus, porque Deus é amor.
9 Herein, hath the love of God in us, been made manifest, that, his only-begotten Son, God sent into the world, in order that we might live through him.
9 Deus mostrou quanto nos amou ao enviar seu único Filho ao mundo para que, por meio dele, tenhamos vida.
10 Herein, is love: not that, we, have loved God, but that, he, loved us, and sent forth his Son, as a propitiation concerning our sins.
10 É nisto que consiste o amor: não em que tenhamos amado a Deus, mas em que ele nos amou e enviou seu Filho como sacrifício para o perdão de nossos pecados.
11 Beloved! If, in this way, God, loved us, we also, ought to love, one another.
11 Amados, visto que Deus tanto nos amou, certamente devemos amar uns aos outros.
12 Upon God, hath no one, at any time, gazed: If we love one another, God, in us, abideth, and, his love, hath been perfected within us.
12 Ninguém jamais viu a Deus. Mas, se amamos uns aos outros, Deus permanece em nós, e seu amor chega, em nós, à expressão plena.
13 Hereby, perceive wethat, in him, are we abiding, and, he, in us,in that, of his Spirit, hath he given unto us.
13 Deus nos deu seu Espírito como prova de que permanecemos nele, e ele em nós.
14 And, we, for ourselves have gazed, and are bearing witnessthat, the Father, sent forth the Son, as Saviour of the world.
14 Além disso, vimos com os próprios olhos e agora testemunhamos que o Pai enviou seu Filho para ser o Salvador do mundo.
15 Whosoever shall confess, that, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God, in him, abideth, and, he, in God.
15 Aquele que declara que Jesus é o Filho de Deus, Deus permanece nele, e ele em Deus.
16 And, we, have come to understand and to trust the love which, God, hath, in us. God, is, love; and, he that abideth in love, in God, abideth, and, God, in him abideth .
16 Sabemos quanto Deus nos ama e confiamos em seu amor. Deus é amor, e quem permanece no amor permanece em Deus, e Deus nele.
17 Herein, hath love with us, been made perfect,in order that, boldness, we might have in the day of judging,in that, just as, He, is, we also, are, in this world.
17 À medida que permanecemos em Deus, nosso amor se torna mais perfeito. Assim, teremos confiança no dia do julgamento, pois vivemos como Jesus viveu neste mundo.
18 Fear, existeth not, in love, but, perfect love, casteth fear, outside; because, fear, hath correction: he that feareth, hath not been made perfect, in love.
18 Esse amor não tem medo, pois o perfeito amor afasta todo medo. Se temos medo, é porque tememos o castigo, e isso mostra que ainda não experimentamos plenamente o amor.
19 We, love, because, he, first loved us:
19 Nós amamos porque ele nos amou primeiro.
20 If one should say, I love God, and should be hating, his brother, false, is he; for, he that doth not love his brother, whom he hath seen, God, whom he hath not seen, he cannot love!
20 Se alguém afirma: “Amo a Deus”, mas odeia seu irmão, é mentiroso, pois se não amamos nosso irmão, a quem vemos, como amaremos a Deus, a quem não vemos?
21 And, this commandment, have we from him,that, he who loveth God, love, his brother also.
21 Ele nos deu este mandamento: quem ama a Deus, ame também seus irmãos.
