1 The word of Jehovah came to Zechariah in the fourth year of King Darius. It was the fourth day of the ninth month that is Chislev.
1 No quarto ano do reinado do rei Dario, a palavra do Senhor veio a Zacarias, no quarto dia do nono mês, o mês de quisleu.
2 Now they of Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regemmelech, and their men, to request the favor of Jehovah.
2 Foi quando o povo de Betel enviou Sarezer e Régen-Meleque com seus homens, para suplicarem ao Senhor
3 Therefore speak to the priests of the house of Jehovah of Hosts, and say to the prophets: »Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these many years?«
3 perguntando aos sacerdotes do templo do Senhor dos Exércitos e aos profetas: "Devemos lamentar e jejuar no quinto mês, como já faz tantos anos que estamos fazendo? "
4 Then came the word of Jehovah of Hosts to me:
4 Então o Senhor dos Exércitos me falou:
5 »Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying: For the past seventy years did you fast for me when you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months?
5 "Pergunte a todo o povo e aos sacerdotes: Quando vocês jejuaram no quinto e no sétimo meses durante os últimos setenta anos, foi de fato para mim que jejuaram?
6 »Did you eat for yourselves and drink for yourselves?
6 E quando comiam e bebiam, não era para vocês mesmos que o faziam?
7 »Should you hear the words that Jehovah cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities near her and the South and the lowland were inhabited?«
7 Não são essas as palavras do Senhor proclamadas pelos antigos profetas quando Jerusalém e as cidades ao seu redor estavam em paz e prosperavam, e o Neguebe e a Sefelá eram habitados? "
8 And the word of Jehovah came to Zechariah:
8 E a palavra do Senhor veio novamente a Zacarias:
9 »Jehovah of Hosts has spoken: Every man should execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion to his brother!
9 "Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: ‘Administrem a verdadeira justiça, mostrem misericórdia e compaixão uns para com os outros.
10 »Do not oppress the widow. Do not oppress the fatherless. Do not oppress the stranger and do not oppress the poor. And you should not devise evil in your heart against your brother.
10 Não oprimam a viúva e o órfão, nem o estrangeiro e o necessitado. Nem tramem maldades uns contra os outros’.
11 »They refused to pay heed, turned a stubborn shoulder resisted, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.
11 "Mas eles se recusaram a dar atenção; teimosamente viraram as costas e taparam os ouvidos.
12 »They made their hearts hard like flint and would not listen to the law, and the words that Jehovah of Hosts sent by his Spirit through the former prophets. Great anger came from Jehovah of Hosts!«
12 Endureceram o coração para não ouvirem a Lei e as palavras que o Senhor dos Exércitos tinha falado pelo seu Espírito por meio dos antigos profetas. Por isso o Senhor dos Exércitos irou-se muito".
13 »I cried, and they would not listen. Now they will cry, and I will not listen, said Jehovah of Hosts!
13 " ‘Quando eu os chamei, não deram ouvidos; por isso, quando eles me chamarem, também não ouvirei’, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
14 I will scatter them with a whirlwind among the nations that they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned. They tread down the pleasant land and made it desolate.«
14 ‘Eu os espalhei com um vendaval entre nações que eles nem conhecem. A terra que deixaram para trás ficou tão destruída que ninguém podia atravessá-la. Foi assim que transformaram a terra aprazível em ruínas’ ".
