1 Some of Israel's elders came to me and sat down in front of me.
1 E vieram a mim alguns homens dos anciãos de Israel e se assentaram diante de mim.
2 Jehovah then spoke his word to me:
2 Então, veio a mim a palavra do Senhor , dizendo:
3 »Son of man, these people are devoted to their idols. They allow themselves to sin. Should they be allowed to ask me for anything?
3 Filho do homem, estes homens levantaram os seus ídolos no seu coração e o tropeço da sua maldade puseram diante da sua face; devo eu de alguma maneira ser interrogado por eles?
4 »Speak to them. Tell them, This is what Jehovah says: Suppose an Israelite is devoted to idols and allows himself to sin. Suppose he goes to a prophet to ask for my help. I, Jehovah, will give that Israelite an answer, the answer that his many idolaters deserve.
4 Portanto, fala com eles e dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová : Qualquer homem da casa de Israel que levantar os seus ídolos no seu coração, e puser o tropeço da sua maldade diante da sua face, e vier ao profeta, eu, o Senhor , vindo ele, lhe responderei conforme a multidão dos seus ídolos;
5 »I will do this to recapture the hearts of the nation of Israel. They have deserted me because of their disgusting idols.«
5 para que possa apanhar a casa de Israel no seu coração, porquanto todos se apartaram de mim para seguirem os seus ídolos.
6 »Therefore tell the nation of Israel: This is what the Lord Jehovah says: »Change the way you think and act! Repent! Turn away from your idols, and do not return to any of your disgusting things.
6 Portanto, dize à casa de Israel: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová : Convertei-vos, e deixai os vossos ídolos, e desviai o vosso rosto de todas as vossas abominações.
7 »Suppose an Israelite or a foreigner who lives in Israel deserts me by devoting himself to idols and by allowing himself to sin. If he goes to a prophet to ask for my help, I, Jehovah, will give him an answer.
7 Porque qualquer homem da casa de Israel, ou dos estrangeiros que peregrinam em Israel que se alienar de mim, e levantar os seus ídolos no seu coração, e puser o tropeço da sua maldade diante do seu rosto, e vier ao profeta, para me consultar por meio dele, a esse, eu, o Senhor , responderei por mim mesmo.
8 »I will set my face against him reject him, and I will make an example of him. I will exclude him from my people. Then you will know that I am Jehovah.«
8 E porei o rosto contra o tal homem, e o farei um espanto, um sinal, e um provérbio, e arrancá-lo-ei do meio do meu povo; e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor .
9 »If a prophet is tricked into giving a prophecy, it is I, Jehovah, who tricked the prophet. I will use my power against you and destroy you from among my people Israel.
9 E, se o profeta for enganado e falar alguma coisa, eu, o Senhor , persuadi esse profeta; e estenderei a mão contra ele e destruí-lo-ei do meio do meu povo de Israel.
10 »Both of you will suffer for your sins. The prophet will be as guilty as you are when you ask for his help.
10 E levarão a sua maldade; como a maldade do que pergunta será a maldade do profeta;
11 »The people of Israel will no longer wander away from me. They will no longer dishonor me with all their sins. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God, declares the Lord Jehovah.«
11 para que a casa de Israel não se desvie mais de mim, nem se contamine mais com todas as suas transgressões; então, eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus, diz o Senhor Jeová .
12 Jehovah continued to speak his word to me, He said:
12 Veio ainda a mim a palavra do Senhor , dizendo:
13 »Son of man, suppose a country sins against me by being unfaithful to me. I will stretch out my hand use my power against it, cut off its food supply, send a famine to it, and destroy its people and animals.«
13 Filho do homem, quando uma terra pecar contra mim, gravemente se rebelando, então, estenderei a mão contra ela, e tornarei instável o sustento do pão, e enviarei contra ela fome, e arrancarei dela homens e animais;
14 »Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in that country, they would, by their righteousness, rescue only themselves, declares the Lord Jehovah.«
14 ainda que estivessem no meio dela estes três homens, Noé, Daniel e Jó, eles, pela sua justiça, livrariam apenas a sua alma, diz o Senhor Jeová .
15 »If I send wild animals through that country and they make it childless and turn it into such a wasteland that no one travels through it because of the animals.
15 Se eu fizer passar pela terra nocivas alimárias, e elas a assolarem, que fique assolada, e ninguém possa passar por ela por causa das feras;
16 »As I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, not even Noah, Daniel, and Job could rescue their own sons or daughters. They could rescue only themselves and the country would become a wasteland.«
16 ainda que esses três homens estivessem no meio dela, vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jeová , que nem a filhos nem a filhas livrariam; só eles ficariam livres, e a terra seria assolada.
17 »What if I bring a war against that country by saying I will let a war go throughout this country. And then I destroy the people and the animals in it.
17 Ou, se eu trouxer a espada sobre a tal terra, e disser: Espada, passa pela terra: e eu arrancar dela homens e animais;
18 »As I am alive, declares the Lord Jehovah, not even Noah, Daniel, and Job could rescue their sons or daughters. They alone would be saved.«
18 ainda que aqueles três homens estivessem nela, vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jeová , que nem filhos nem filhas livrariam, mas eles só ficariam livres.
19 »Let us say I send a plague into that country or pour out my fury on it by killing people and destroying animals.
19 Ou se eu enviar a peste sobre a tal terra e derramar o meu furor sobre ela com sangue, para arrancar dela homens e animais;
20 As I am alive, declares the Lord Jehovah, not even Noah, Daniel, and Job could, by their righteousness, rescue their sons or daughters. They could rescue only themselves.«
20 ainda que Noé, Daniel e Jó estivessem no meio dela, vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jeová , que nem filho nem filha eles livrariam, mas só livrariam a sua própria alma pela sua justiça.
21 »This is what the Lord Jehovah says: I will surely send four terrible punishments against Jerusalem. I will send wars, famines, wild animals, and plagues. They will destroy people and animals.
21 Porque assim diz o Senhor Jeová : Quanto mais, se eu enviar os meus quatro maus juízos, a espada, e a fome, e as nocivas alimárias, e a peste, contra Jerusalém para arrancar dela homens e animais?
22 »And yet some people will survive. Some of your sons and daughters will be brought out. When they come out to you, you will see how they live. Then you will be comforted after the disasters that I will bring on Jerusalem, after every disaster that I will bring against it.«
22 Mas eis que alguns restarão nela, que serão levados para fora, assim filhos como filhas; eis que eles virão a vós, e vereis o seu caminho e os seus feitos; e ficareis consolados do mal que eu trouxe sobre Jerusalém e de tudo o que trouxe sobre ela.
23 »You will be comforted when you see how they live. Then you will know that everything I have done was done for a reason, declares the Lord Jehovah.«
23 E sereis consolados, quando virdes o seu caminho e os seus feitos; e sabereis que não fiz sem razão tudo quanto tenho feito nela, diz o Senhor Jeová .
