1 Then Jehovah said to Moses: »Go to Pharaoh, and tell him, this is what Jehovah the God of the Hebrews says: Let my people go to serve me.
1 Então disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Vai à presença de Faraó, e dize-lhe: Assim diz o SENHOR Deus dos hebreus: Deixa o meu povo ir, para que me sirva.
2 »If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them in slavery,
2 Porque se te recusares a deixá-los ir, e os detiveres por força,
3 Jehovah will bring a terrible plague on your livestock, including your horses, donkeys, camels, cattle, sheep, and goats.
3 eis que a mão do SENHOR será sobre teu gado que está no campo, sobre os cavalos, sobre os jumentos, sobre os camelos, sobre os bois, e sobre as ovelhas; haverá uma grande praga.
4 »»Jehovah will distinguish between Israels livestock and the livestock of the Egyptians. The animals belonging to the Israelites will not die.« «
4 E o SENHOR separará o gado de Israel e o gado do Egito; e não morrerá nada de tudo o que for dos filhos de Israel.
5 Jehovah set a definite time: »I, Jehovah, choose tomorrow as the time when I will do this.«
5 E o SENHOR determinou um tempo certo, dizendo: Amanhã o SENHOR fará isto na terra.
6 The next day Jehovah did as he had said. The Egyptians animals all died. Not one of the animals of the Israelites died.
6 E o SENHOR o fez no dia seguinte, e todo o gado do Egito morreu, mas do gado dos filhos de Israel não morreu nenhum.
7 The king asked what had happened. He was told that none of the animals of the Israelites had died. He was stubborn and would not let the people go.
7 E Faraó mandou ver, e eis que do gado dos israelitas nenhum morrera. E o coração de Faraó foi endurecido, e ele não deixou o povo ir.
8 Then Jehovah said to Moses and Aaron: »Take a few handfuls of ashes from a furnace. Moses is to throw them into the air in front of the king.
8 E disse o SENHOR a Moisés e a Arão: Tomai para vós mãos cheias de cinzas do forno, e que Moisés as espalhe para o céu à vista de Faraó.
9 »They will spread out like fine dust over all the land of Egypt. They will produce boils that become open sores on the people and the animals.«
9 E se tornará em pó fino sobre toda a terra do Egito, e furúnculos que arrebentarão em úlcera sobre o homem, e sobre o animal, em toda a terra do Egito.
10 They got some ashes and stood before the king. Moses threw them into the air. They produced boils that became open sores on the people and the animals.
10 E eles tomaram as cinzas do forno, e puseram-se diante de Faraó. E Moisés as espalhou para o céu, e elas se tornaram em feridas que arrebentavam em úlceras sobre o homem e sobre o animal.
11 The magicians were not able to appear before Moses, because they were covered with boils, like all the other Egyptians.
11 E os magos não conseguiram ficar diante de Moisés por causa das feridas, pois a ferida estava sobre os magos, e sobre todos os egípcios.
12 Jehovah hardened the heart of Pharaoh and he did not listen to Moses and Aaron. Everything happened just as Jehovah had told Moses.
12 E o SENHOR endureceu o coração de Faraó, e ele não os ouviu, como o SENHOR havia dito a Moisés.
13 Jehovah told Moses to get up early the next morning and say to the king: »God of the Hebrews commands you to let his people go, so they can serve him!
13 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Levanta-te de manhã cedo, e coloca-te diante de Faraó, e dize a ele: Assim diz o SENHOR Deus dos hebreus: Deixa o meu povo ir, para que me sirva.
14 »If you do not, he will send his worst plagues to strike you, your officials, and everyone else in your country. Then you will find out that no one can oppose Jehovah.
14 Porque desta vez enviarei todas as minhas pragas sobre o teu coração, e sobre os teus servos, e sobre o teu povo, para que saibas que não há ninguém como eu em toda a terra.
15 »He could already have sent a terrible disease and wiped you from the face of the earth.
15 Porquanto agora estenderei a minha mão, para que eu fira a ti e a teu povo com peste, e tu serás cortado da terra.
16 »I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you my power and in order to proclaim my name through all the earth.
16 E na verdade é por esta causa que eu te levantei, para mostrar o meu poder em ti, e para que o meu nome seja declarado em toda a terra.
17 »Still you exalt yourself against my people by not letting them go.
17 Ainda te exaltas contra o meu povo, não o deixando ir?
18 »At this time tomorrow, I will send a very heavy hail, such as has not been seen in Egypt from the day it was founded until now.
18 Eis que amanhã a essa hora, farei chover um grande granizo, tal como não houve no Egito, desde a sua fundação até agora.
19 »Bring your livestock and whatever you have in the field to safety. Every man and beast that is found in the field and is not brought home will die from the hail.«
19 Por isso, envia agora, e ajunta o teu gado, e tudo que tens no campo; pois sobre todo homem e todo animal que for encontrado no campo, e não for trazido para casa, cairá o granizo, e morrerão.
20 The ones among the servants of Pharaoh who respected the word of Jehovah made his servants and his livestock flee into the houses.
20 Aquele que temeu a palavra do SENHOR entre os servos de Faraó fez seus servos e seu gado fugir para dentro das casas,
21 He who paid no regard to the word of Jehovah left his servants and his livestock in the field.
21 e aquele que não considerou a palavra do SENHOR deixou os seus servos e o seu gado no campo.
22 Jehovah said to Moses: »Stretch out your hand toward the sky. Hail will fall on all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast and on every plant of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.«
22 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Estende a tua mão para o céu, para que haja granizo em toda a terra do Egito, sobre o homem, e sobre o animal, e sobre toda erva do campo na terra do Egito.
23 Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky. Then Jehovah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. Jehovah rained hail on the land of Egypt.
23 E Moisés estendeu seu cajado para o céu, e o SENHOR enviou trovão e granizo, e o fogo desceu à terra; e o SENHOR fez chover granizo sobre a terra do Egito.
24 It hailed, and lightning flashed while it hailed. This was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.
24 Assim houve granizo, e fogo misturado com granizo, muito grave, tal como não houve em toda a terra do Egito desde que se tornou uma nação.
25 All over Egypt the hail knocked down everything that was out in the open. It struck down people, animals, and every plant in the fields and destroyed every tree in the fields.
25 E o granizo feriu, em toda a terra do Egito, tudo que estava no campo, tanto homem como animal; e o granizo feriu toda erva do campo, e quebrou cada árvore do campo.
26 The region of Goshen, where the Israelites lived, was the only place where there was no hail.
26 Somente na terra de Gósen, onde os filhos de Israel estavam, não houve granizo.
27 The king sent for Moses and Aaron and said: »This time I have sinned. Jehovah is in the right. My people and I are in the wrong.
27 E Faraó enviou, e chamou Moisés e Arão, e lhes disse: Pequei desta vez; o SENHOR é justo, e eu e meu povo somos ímpios.
28 »Pray to Jehovah! We have had enough of this thunder and hail! I promise to let you go. You do not have to stay here any longer.«
28 Rogai ao SENHOR (pois é o suficiente) para que não haja mais trovões fortes e granizo, e eu vos deixarei ir, e não ficareis mais aqui.
29 Moses said to him: »As soon as I go out of the city, I will lift up my hands in prayer to Jehovah. The thunder will stop. There will be no more hail. Thus you may know that the earth belongs to Jehovah.
29 E Moisés lhe disse: Assim que eu sair da cidade, estenderei minhas mãos ao SENHOR; e o trovão cessará, nem haverá mais granizo, para que saibas que a terra é do SENHOR.
30 »But I know that you and your servants do not yet respect Jehovah God.«
30 Mas quanto a ti e a teus servos, sei que não temereis o SENHOR Deus.
31 The flax and the barley were ruined, because the barley was ripe, and the flax was budding.
31 E o linho e a cevada foram feridos, porque a cevada já estava na espiga, e o linho estava enrolado.
32 But the wheat crops ripen later, and they were not damaged.
32 Mas o trigo e o centeio não foram feridos, pois não eram crescidos.
33 Moses left the royal palace and the city. He lifted his arms in prayer to Jehovah. The thunder, hail, and drenching rain stopped.
33 E Moisés saiu da presença de Faraó e de sua cidade, e estendeu suas mãos ao SENHOR, e os trovões e o granizo cessaram, e a chuva não foi derramada sobre a terra.
34 The king realized that the storm was over. He disobeyed once more. He and his officials were so stubborn
34 E quando Faraó viu que a chuva e o granizo e os trovões haviam cessado, pecou ainda mais, e endureceu seu coração, ele e os seus servos.
35 that he refused to let the Israelites go. This was exactly what Jehovah said would happen.
35 E o coração de Faraó foi endurecido, e não deixou os filhos de Israel ir, como o SENHOR havia dito por Moisés.
