1 »Hear this word you cows of Bashan who live on the mountain of Samaria. You oppress the poor. You crush the needy. You say to your masters husbandslords, »Bring us drink.«
1 Ouvi esta palavra, vós, vacas de Basã, que estais no monte de Samaria, que oprimis aos pobres, que esmagais os necessitados, que dizeis a vossos senhores: trazei, e bebamos.
2 »The Lord Jehovah has sworn by his holiness that the day will come when they will take you away with meat hooks, and those who remain with fish-hooks.
2 O Senhor DEUS jurou, pela sua santidade, que dias estão para vir sobre vós, em que vos levarão com ganchos e a vossos descendentes com anzóis.
3 »You will go out through the holes in the city wall straight before her. You will be thrown into Harmon a place of exile,« said Jehovah.
3 E saireis pelas brechas, cada qual em frente de si, e sereis lançadas no palácio, diz o SENHOR.
4 »Come to Bethel and transgress! Come to Gilgal and multiply transgression! Bring your sacrifices every morning and your tithes every three days.
4 Vinde a Betel, e transgredi; a Gilgal, e multiplicai as transgressões; e trazei os vossos sacrifícios a cada manhã, e os vossos dízimos a cada três anos;
5 »Offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened. Proclaim freewill-offerings and make them known. This pleases you, O you children of Israel,« said the Lord Jehovah.
5 e oferecei um sacrifício de ação de graças do que é levedado; proclamai e publicai as ofertas voluntárias, porque disso gostais, ó filhos de Israel, diz o Senhor DEUS.
6 »I also gave you cleanness of teeth kept food from your teeth in all your cities and lack of bread in all your places. Yet you have not returned to me,« said Jehovah.
6 Por isso também vos dei limpeza de dentes em todas as vossas cidades, e falta de pão em todos os vossos lugares; contudo não vos retornastes a mim, diz o SENHOR.
7 »I withheld rain from you three months before the harvest. I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city. One received rain. The other did not receive rain and it dried up.
7 E também retive de vós a chuva, quando ainda faltavam três meses para a ceifa; e fiz que chovesse sobre uma cidade, e que não chovesse sobre outra cidade; sobre um campo choveu, mas o outro, sobre a qual não choveu, secou-se.
8 »Two or three cities wandered unto one city to drink water. They were not satisfied and yet you have not returned to me,« said Jehovah.
8 Então duas ou três cidades andaram errantes, indo a outra cidade para beberem água, mas não se saciaram; contudo não vos retornastes a mim, diz o SENHOR.
9 »I struck you with scorching and mildew. The caterpillar has devoured the multitudes of your gardens, your vineyards, your fig trees and your olive-trees. Yet you have not returned to me,« said Jehovah.
9 Feri-vos com queimadura e ferrugem; quando vossas hortas e vinhas, e vossas figueiras cresceram, foram devoradas pela lagarta; contudo não vos retornastes a mim, diz o SENHOR.
10 »I sent a plague among you just as I did to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword and I captured your horses. I made the stench of your camp come up even into your nostrils and yet you have not returned to me,« said Jehovah.
10 Eu enviei a peste entre vós, à maneira do Egito; os vossos jovens matei à espada, e levei os vossos cavalos; e fiz subir às vossas narinas o mau cheiro dos vossos campos; contudo não vos retornastes a mim, diz o SENHOR.
11 »I overthrew your cities as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick plucked out of the fire. Yet you have not returned to me,« said Jehovah.
11 Derrubei alguns dentre vós, como Deus derrubou a Sodoma e Gomorra, e vós fostes como um tição arrebatado do incêndio; contudo não vos retornastes a mim, diz o SENHOR.
12 »This is what I will do to you, O Israel. Because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!
12 Portanto, assim te farei, ó Israel; e porque isso te farei, prepara-te para encontrares com o teu Deus, ó Israel.
13 »Behold he who formed the mountains and created the wind and declared to man his thoughts, also made the morning darkness and treads upon the high places of the Earth: Jehovah, the God of Hosts, is his name.«
13 Pois eis aqui o que forma os montes, e cria o vento, e declara ao homem qual seja o seu pensamento, o que faz da manhã trevas, e pisa sobre os lugares altos da terra; o SENHOR, o Deus dos Exércitos, é o seu nome.
