1 In the spring, the time when kings go out to battle, Joab led the army to war. They destroyed the Ammonites and came to Rabbah to attack it, while David stayed in Jerusalem. Joab defeated Rabbah and tore it down.
1 Decorrido um ano, no tempo em que os reis costumam sair para a guerra, Joabe levou o exército, destruiu a terra dos filhos de Amom, foi e sitiou Rabá. Mas Davi ficou em Jerusalém. Joabe atacou Rabá e a destruiu.
2 David took the gold crown from the head of Rabbahs king. It was placed on Davids head. The crown was found to weigh seventy-five pounds, and in it was a precious stone. David also took a lot of goods from the city.
2 Davi tirou a coroa da cabeça do seu rei e verificou que tinha o peso de trinta e quatro quilos de ouro e que havia nela pedras preciosas. Essa coroa foi posta na cabeça de Davi. E da cidade ele levou muitos despojos.
3 He took the troops who were there and put them to work with saws, hoes, and axes. He did the same to all the Ammonite cities. After that David and all the troops returned to Jerusalem.
3 Também trouxe o povo que havia nela, e os fez trabalhar com serras, picaretas de ferro e machados. Davi fez o mesmo com todas as cidades dos filhos de Amom. Depois voltou com todo o exército para Jerusalém.
4 War broke out with the Philistines at Gezer. Sibbecai from Hushah killed Sippai, a descendant of Haraphah, and the Philistines were defeated.
4 Depois disto houve guerra em Gezer contra os filisteus. Foi então que Sibecai, o husatita, matou Sipai, que era descendente dos gigantes; e os filisteus foram subjugados.
5 When more fighting broke out with the Philistines, Elhanan, son of Jair, killed Lahmi, the brother of Goliath from Gath. The shaft of Lahmis spear was like a beam used by weavers.
5 Houve ainda outra batalha contra os filisteus, e Elanã, filho de Jair, matou Lami, irmão de Golias, o geteu, cuja lança tinha a haste como eixo de tecelão.
6 In another battle at Gath, there was a tall man who had twenty-four fingers and toes: six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. He also was a descendant of Haraphah.
6 Houve ainda outra batalha em Gate. Ali havia um homem de grande estatura, que tinha vinte e quatro dedos, seis em cada mão e seis em cada pé; também este descendia dos gigantes.
7 When he challenged Israel, Jonathan, son of Davids brother Shimea, killed him.
7 Quando ele insultou Israel, Jônatas, filho de Simeia, irmão de Davi, o matou.
8 These men were the descendants of Haraphah from Gath. David and his men killed them.
8 Esses eram descendentes dos gigantes em Gate, e foram mortos por Davi e seus soldados.
