1 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came to him, and in order to test him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
1 Os fariseus e os saduceus aproximaram-se de Jesus e o puseram à prova, pedindo-lhe que lhes mostrasse um sinal do céu.
2 In answer he said. "In the evening you say, It will be fine weather, for the sky is red as fire;
2 Ele respondeu: "Quando a tarde vem, vocês dizem: ‘Vai fazer bom tempo, porque o céu está vermelho’,
3 and at dawn you say, It will storm today, for the sky is red and lowering. You know how to discern the look of the sky, but the signs of the times you cannot read.
3 e de manhã: ‘Hoje haverá tempestade, porque o céu está vermelho e nublado’. Vocês sabem interpretar o aspecto do céu, mas não sabem interpretar os sinais dos tempos!
4 A wicked and faithless generation is seeking a sign, but no sign shall be given it but the sign of Jonah." So he left them and went away.
4 Uma geração perversa e adúltera pede um sinal miraculoso, mas nenhum sinal lhe será dado, a não ser o sinal de Jonas". Então Jesus os deixou e retirou-se.
5 When his disciples reached the other side of the lake, they had forgotten to bring bread.
5 Indo os discípulos para o outro lado do mar, esqueceram-se de levar pão.
6 Presently Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees."
6 Disse-lhes Jesus: "Estejam atentos e tenham cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus".
7 And they began discussing it among themselves, saying, "It is because we did not bring any bread."
7 E eles discutiam entre si, dizendo: "É porque não trouxemos pão".
8 When Jesus knew it he said. "Weaklings in faith! Why are you arguing among yourselves, because you have no bread?
8 Percebendo a discussão, Jesus lhes perguntou: "Homens de pequena fé, por que vocês estão discutindo entre si sobre não terem pão?
9 "Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many large basketfuls you took up?
9 Ainda não compreendem? Não se lembram dos cinco pães para os cinco mil e de quantos cestos vocês recolheram?
10 "Nor the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many large basketfuls you took up?
10 Nem dos sete pães para os quatro mil e de quantos cestos recolheram?
11 "How is it that you do not perceive that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware off the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees!"
11 Como é que vocês não entendem que não era de pão que eu estava lhes falando? Mas tomem cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus".
12 Then they realized that he had not told them to beware of the leaven, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
12 Então entenderam que não estava lhes dizendo que tomassem cuidado com o fermento de pão, mas com o ensino dos fariseus e dos saduceus.
13 When Jesus came into the neighborhood of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of man is?"
13 Chegando Jesus à região de Cesaréia de Filipe, perguntou aos seus discípulos: "Quem os homens dizem que o Filho do homem é? "
14 They replied, "Some say Johnthe Baptist;others, however, say that He is Elijah;others, Jeremiah, or One of the Prophets."
14 Eles responderam: "Alguns dizem que é João Batista; outros, Elias; e, ainda outros, Jeremias ou um dos profetas".
15 "And who do you say that I am?" he asked them.
15 "E vocês? ", perguntou ele. "Quem vocês dizem que eu sou? "
16 So Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
16 Simão Pedro respondeu: "Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo".
17 "Blessed are you, Simon, Son of Jonah," said Jesus; "for flesh and blood have not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven!
17 Respondeu Jesus: "Feliz é você, Simão, filho de Jonas! Porque isto não lhe foi revelado por carne ou sangue, mas por meu Pai que está nos céus.
18 "Moreover I say to you that you are Petros (a rock), and on this petra (rock) I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against her.
18 E eu lhe digo que você é Pedro, e sobre esta pedra edificarei a minha igreja, e as portas do Hades não poderão vencê-la.
19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind upon the earth shall be bound in the heavens, and whatever you loose upon earth shall be loosed in the heavens."
19 Eu lhe darei as chaves do Reino dos céus; o que você ligar na terra terá sido ligado nos céus, e o que você desligar na terra terá sido desligado nos céus".
20 Then he enjoined his disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
20 Então advertiu a seus discípulos que não contassem a ninguém que ele era o Cristo.
21 After this Jesus the Christ began to show his disciples how he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things at the hands of the elders and chief priests and Scribes, and be put to death, and on the third day be raised again.
21 Desde aquele momento Jesus começou a explicar aos seus discípulos que era necessário que ele fosse para Jerusalém e sofresse muitas coisas nas mãos dos líderes religiosos, dos chefes dos sacerdotes e dos mestres da lei, e fosse morto e ressuscitasse no terceiro dia.
22 Then Peter took him aside and began to reprove him, saying. "God forbid, Master! That shall never befall you."
22 Então Pedro, chamando-o à parte, começou a repreendê-lo, dizendo: "Nunca, Senhor! Isso nunca te acontecerá! "
23 But he turned and said to Peter. "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling-block to me, because you are not intent on what pleases God, but what pleases men."
23 Jesus virou-se e disse a Pedro: "Para trás de mim, Satanás! Você é uma pedra de tropeço para mim, e não pensa nas coisas de Deus, mas nas dos homens".
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples. "If any man wishes to come after me, let him renounce self, take up his cross, and follow me.
24 Então Jesus disse aos seus discípulos: "Se alguém quiser acompanhar-me, negue-se a si mesmo, tome a sua cruz e siga-me.
25 For he who wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
25 Pois quem quiser salvar a sua vida, a perderá, mas quem perder a vida por minha causa, a encontrará.
26 What will it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
26 Pois, que adiantará ao homem ganhar o mundo inteiro e perder a sua alma? Ou, o que o homem poderá dar em troca de sua alma?
27 For the Son of man is about to come in the glory of his Father, and his angels with him, and then will he reward each one in accordance with his actions.
27 Pois o Filho do homem virá na glória de seu Pai, com os seus anjos, e então recompensará a cada um de acordo com o que tenha feito.
28 Solemnly I tell you, some of those who are standing here shall not taste death, till they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
28 Garanto-lhes que alguns dos que aqui se acham não experimentarão a morte antes de verem o Filho do homem vindo em seu Reino".
