1 So says the LORD: Behold, I will raise up a destroying wind against Babylon, and against those dwelling in the heart of My foes.
1 Assim diz o Senhor : Eis que levantarei um vento destruidor contra a Babilônia e contra os que habitam em Lebe-Camai.
2 And I will send aliens to Babylon who will sift her and will empty her land. For in the day of trouble they shall be against her all around.
2 Enviarei padejadores contra a Babilônia, que a padejarão e despojarão a sua terra; porque virão contra ela em redor no dia da calamidade.
3 Do not let the treader fully tread his bow; nor lift himself up in his armor. And do not spare her young men; utterly destroy all her army.
3 O flecheiro arme o seu arco contra o que o faz com o seu e contra o que presume da sua couraça; não poupeis os seus jovens, destruí de todo o seu exército.
4 So the dead shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, [those] thrust through in her streets.
4 Caiam mortos na terra dos caldeus e atravessados pelas ruas!
5 For neither Israel nor Judah [has been] forsaken by his God, by Jehovah of hosts, though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.
5 Porque Israel e Judá não enviuvaram do seu Deus, do Senhor dos Exércitos; mas a terra dos caldeus está cheia de culpas perante o Santo de Israel.
6 Flee out of the middle of Babylon, and each man deliver his soul. Be not cut off in her iniquity, for this [is] the time of the LORD's vengeance; He will give to her a just reward.
6 Fugi do meio da Babilônia, e cada um salve a sua vida; não pereçais na sua maldade; porque é tempo da vingança do Senhor : ele lhe dará a sua paga.
7 Babylon [has been] a golden cup in the LORD's hand, which made all the earth drunk. The nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations rage.
7 A Babilônia era um copo de ouro na mão do Senhor , o qual embriagava a toda a terra; do seu vinho beberam as nações; por isso, enlouqueceram.
8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed. Wail for her; take balm for her pain, if perhaps she may be healed.
8 Repentinamente, caiu Babilônia e ficou arruinada; lamentai por ela, tomai bálsamo para a sua ferida; porventura, sarará.
9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed. Forsake her and let us go, each one into his own country; for her judgment reaches to the heavens and is lifted up to the skies.
9 Queríamos curar Babilônia, ela, porém, não sarou; deixai-a, e cada um vá para a sua terra; porque o seu juízo chega até ao céu e se eleva até às mais altas nuvens.
10 The LORD has brought forth our righteousness; come and let us declare in Zion the work of Jehovah our God.
10 O Senhor trouxe a nossa justiça à luz; vinde, e anunciemos em Sião a obra do Senhor , nosso Deus.
11 Sharpen the arrows; gather the shields; the LORD has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes. For His plan [is] against Babylon, to destroy [it]; because it [is] the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of His temple.
11 Aguçai as flechas! Preparai os escudos! O Senhor despertou o espírito dos reis dos medos; porque o seu intento contra a Babilônia é para a destruir; pois esta é a vingança do Senhor , a vingança do seu templo.
12 Set up the banner on the walls of Babylon; make the watch strong; set up the watchmen; prepare the ambushes. For the LORD has both planned and done that which He spoke against the people of Babylon.
12 Arvorai estandarte contra os muros de Babilônia, reforçai a guarda, colocai sentinelas, preparai emboscadas; porque o Senhor intentou e fez o que tinha dito acerca dos moradores da Babilônia.
13 O you who live on many waters, rich in treasures, your end has come, [and] the measure of your unjust gain.
13 Ó tu que habitas sobre muitas águas, rica de tesouros! Chegou o teu fim, a medida da tua avareza.
14 Jehovah of hosts has sworn by Himself, [saying], Surely I will fill you with men as with locusts; and they shall lift up a shout against you.
14 Jurou o Senhor dos Exércitos por si mesmo, dizendo: Encher-te-ei certamente de homens, como de gafanhotos, e eles cantarão sobre ti o eia! dos que pisam as uvas.
15 He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens by His understanding.
15 Ele fez a terra pelo seu poder; estabeleceu o mundo por sua sabedoria e com a sua inteligência estendeu os céus.
16 When He utters [His] voice, [there is] a multitude of waters in the heavens; and He causes the mists to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings with rain and brings forth the wind out of His treasures.
16 Fazendo ele ribombar o trovão, logo há tumulto de águas no céu, e sobem os vapores das extremidades da terra; ele cria os relâmpagos para a chuva e dos seus depósitos faz sair o vento.
17 Every man is brutish in knowledge; every refiner is put to shame by idols. For his molded image [is] a lie, and no breath [is] in them.
17 Todo homem se tornou estúpido e não tem saber; todo ourives é envergonhado pela imagem que esculpiu; pois as suas imagens são mentira, e nelas não há fôlego.
18 They [are] vanity, the work of errors; in the time of their judgment they shall perish.
18 Vaidade são, obra ridícula; no tempo do seu castigo, virão a perecer.
19 The Portion of Jacob [is] not like them; for He [is] the Former of all things, and [Israel is] the rod of His inheritance. Jehovah of hosts [is] His name.
19 Não é semelhante a estas aquele que é a Porção de Jacó; porque ele é o criador de todas as coisas, e Israel é a tribo da sua herança; Senhor dos Exércitos é o seu nome.
20 You [are] My war-club [and] weapons of war; for with you I will shatter nations; and with you I will destroy kingdoms.
20 Tu, Babilônia, eras meu martelo e minhas armas de guerra; por meio de ti, despedacei nações e destruí reis;
21 And with you I will shatter the horse and his rider; and with you I will shatter the chariot and his rider.
21 por meio de ti, despedacei o cavalo e o seu cavaleiro; despedacei o carro e o seu cocheiro;
22 Also with you I will shatter man and woman; and with you I will shatter old and young; and with you I will shatter the young man and the girl.
22 por meio de ti, despedacei o homem e a mulher, despedacei o velho e o moço, despedacei o jovem e a virgem;
23 I will also shatter the shepherd and his flock with you. And with you I will shatter the farmer and his team; and with you I will shatter heads and rulers.
23 por meio de ti, despedacei o pastor e o seu rebanho, despedacei o lavrador e a sua junta de bois, despedacei governadores e vice-reis.
24 And I will give to Babylon, and to all the people of Chaldea, all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, says the LORD.
24 Pagarei, ante os vossos próprios olhos, à Babilônia e a todos os moradores da Caldeia toda a maldade que fizeram em Sião, diz o Senhor .
25 Behold, I [am] against you, O destroying mountain, says the LORD, who destroys all the earth. And I will stretch out My hand on you and roll you down from the rocks, and will make you a burned mountain.
25 Eis que sou contra ti, ó monte que destróis, diz o Senhor , que destróis toda a terra; estenderei a mão contra ti, e te revolverei das rochas, e farei de ti um monte em chamas.
26 And they shall not take a stone from you for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but you shall be a waste forever, says the LORD.
26 De ti não se tirarão pedras, nem para o ângulo nem para fundamentos, porque te tornarás em desolação perpétua, diz o Senhor .
27 Set up a banner in the land; blow a trumpet among the nations; prepare the nations against her. Call the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz together against her; set a commander against her. Cause the horses to come up as the rough locusts.
27 Arvorai estandarte na terra, tocai trombeta entre as nações, consagrai as nações contra ela, convocai contra ela os reinos de Ararate, Mini e Asquenaz; ordenai contra ela chefes, fazei subir cavalos como gafanhotos eriçados.
28 Consecrate nations against her, with the kings of the Medes, her governors and all her rulers, and all the land of his kingdom.
28 Consagrai contra ela as nações, os reis dos medos, os seus governadores, todos os seus vice-reis e toda a terra do seu domínio.
29 And the land shall tremble and writhe. For every purpose of the LORD shall be done against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desert without inhabitant.
29 Estremece a terra e se contorce em dores, porque cada um dos desígnios do Senhor está firme contra Babilônia, para fazer da terra da Babilônia uma desolação, sem que haja quem nela habite.
30 The mighty men of Babylon have stopped fighting; they have remained in strongholds; their might has failed. They became like women; they have burned her houses; her bars are broken.
30 Os valentes da Babilônia cessaram de pelejar, permanecem nas fortalezas, desfaleceu-lhes a força, tornaram-se como mulheres; estão em chamas as suas moradas, quebrados, os seus ferrolhos.
31 A runner shall run to meet a runner, and a herald to a herald, to announce to the king of Babylon that his city is captured from end [to end] ;
31 Sai um correio ao encontro de outro correio, um mensageiro ao encontro de outro mensageiro, para anunciar ao rei da Babilônia que a sua cidade foi tomada de todos os lados;
32 and that the fords are stopped. And they have burned the reeds with fire, and the men of war are frightened.
32 que os vaus estão ocupados, e as defesas, queimadas, e os homens de guerra, amedrontados.
33 For so says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon [is] like a threshing floor; [it is] time to thresh her. Yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.
33 Porque assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: A filha da Babilônia é como a eira quando é aplanada e pisada; ainda um pouco, e o tempo da ceifa lhe virá.
34 Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me; he has crushed me; he has made me an empty vessel. He has swallowed me up like a jackal; he has filled his belly with good things; he has thrown me out;
34 Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, nos devorou, esmagou-nos e fez de nós um objeto inútil; como monstro marinho, nos tragou, encheu a sua barriga das nossas comidas finas e nos arrojou fora.
35 the violence done to me and to my flesh [shall be] on Babylon; the dweller in Zion shall say. And, My blood [shall be] on the people of Chaldea, Jerusalem shall say.
35 A violência que se me fez a mim e à minha carne caia sobre a Babilônia, diga a moradora de Sião; o meu sangue caia sobre os moradores da Caldeia, diga Jerusalém.
36 So the LORD says this: Behold, I will plead your cause and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry.
36 Pelo que assim diz o Senhor : Eis que pleitearei a tua causa e te vingarei da vingança que se tomou contra ti; secarei o seu mar e farei que se esgote o seu manancial.
37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a home for jackals, a horror and a hissing, without an inhabitant.
37 Babilônia se tornará em montões de ruínas, morada de chacais, objeto de espanto e assobio, e não haverá quem nela habite.
38 They shall roar together like lions; they shall growl like lions' cubs.
38 Ainda que juntos rujam como leões e rosnem como cachorros de leões,
39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunk so that they may rejoice and sleep a never-ending sleep, and never awaken, says the LORD.
39 estando eles esganados, preparar-lhes-ei um banquete, embriagá-los-ei para que se regozijem e durmam sono eterno e não acordem, diz o Senhor .
40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he-goats.
40 Fá-los-ei descer como cordeiros ao matadouro, como carneiros e bodes.
41 How Sheshach is captured! And how the praise of the whole earth is seized! How Babylon has become a horror among the nations!
41 Como foi tomada Babilônia, e apanhada de surpresa, a glória de toda a terra! Como se tornou Babilônia objeto de espanto entre as nações!
42 The sea has come up over Babylon; she is covered with the multitude of its waves.
42 O mar é vindo sobre Babilônia, coberta está com o tumulto das suas ondas.
43 Her cities are a desert, a dry land and a wilderness, a land in which no man dwells, nor does [any] son of man pass by it.
43 Tornaram-se as suas cidades em desolação, terra seca e deserta, terra em que ninguém habita, nem passa por ela homem algum.
44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up. And the nations shall not flow together any more to him; yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
44 Castigarei a Bel na Babilônia e farei que lance de sua boca o que havia tragado, e nunca mais concorrerão a ele as nações; também o muro de Babilônia caiu.
45 My people, go out of her midst; and let each man deliver his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.
45 Saí do meio dela, ó povo meu, e salve cada um a sua vida do brasume da ira do Senhor .
46 And let not your heart faint, nor fear the rumor that shall be heard in the land. The report [shall come] in a year. And after that a report [shall come] in [another] year; and violence shall be] in the land, ruler against ruler.
46 Não desfaleça o vosso coração, não temais o rumor que se há de ouvir na terra; pois virá num ano um rumor, noutro ano, outro rumor; haverá violência na terra, dominador contra dominador.
47 So, behold, the days come that I will punish the idols of Babylon. And all her land shall be put to shame, and all her slain shall fall in her midst.
47 Portanto, eis que vêm dias, em que castigarei as imagens de escultura da Babilônia, toda a sua terra será envergonhada, e todos os seus cairão traspassados no meio dela.
48 And the heavens and the earth, and all that [is] in them, shall shout for Babylon; for the plunderers shall come to her from the north, says the LORD.
48 Os céus, e a terra, e tudo quanto neles há jubilarão sobre Babilônia; porque do Norte lhe virão os destruidores, diz o Senhor .
49 As Babylon is to fall for the dead of Israel, so at Babylon the dead of all the earth shall fall.
49 Como Babilônia fez cair traspassados os de Israel, assim, em Babilônia, cairão traspassados os de toda a terra.
50 You who have escaped the sword, go away; do not stand still. Remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.
50 Vós que escapastes da espada, ide-vos, não pareis; de longe lembrai-vos do Senhor , e suba Jerusalém à vossa mente.
51 We have turned pale because we have heard reproach; shame has covered our faces, for foreigners have come into the holy places of the LORD's house.
51 Direis: Envergonhados estamos, porque ouvimos opróbrio; vergonha cobriu-nos o rosto, porque vieram estrangeiros e entraram nos santuários da Casa do Senhor .
52 So, behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that I will punish her idols, and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
52 Portanto, eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor , em que castigarei as suas imagens de escultura; e gemerão os traspassados em toda a sua terra.
53 Though Babylon should mount up to the heavens, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, [yet] plunderers shall come to her from Me, says the LORD.
53 Ainda que a Babilônia subisse aos céus e ainda que fortificasse no alto a sua fortaleza, de mim viriam destruidores contra ela, diz o Senhor .
54 A sound of a cry [comes] from Babylon, and great ruin from the land of the Chaldeans,
54 De Babilônia se ouvem gritos, e da terra dos caldeus, o ruído de grande destruição;
55 because the LORD is stripping Babylon, and the great voice will perish out of her. And her waves will roar like great waters; the noise of their voice is given,
55 porque o Senhor destrói Babilônia e faz perecer nela a sua grande voz; bramarão as ondas do inimigo como muitas águas, ouvir-se-á o tumulto da sua voz,
56 because the ravager has come on her, even on Babylon, and her mighty men are captured. Every one of their bows is broken, for Jehovah, God of vengeance, shall surely repay.
56 porque o destruidor vem contra ela, contra Babilônia; os seus valentes estão presos, já estão quebrados os seus arcos; porque o Senhor , Deus que dá a paga, certamente, lhe retribuirá.
57 And I will make her rulers drunk, also her wise ones, her governors, and her rulers, and her mighty men. And they shall sleep a never-ending sleep and not awaken, says the King whose name [is] Jehovah of hosts.
57 Embriagarei os seus príncipes, os seus sábios, os seus governadores, os seus vice-reis e os seus valentes; dormirão sono eterno e não acordarão, diz o Rei, cujo nome é Senhor dos Exércitos.
58 So says Jehovah of hosts: The broad walls of Babylon shall be completely broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labor in vain, and the people shall be in the fire, and they shall be weary.
58 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Os largos muros de Babilônia totalmente serão derribados, e as suas altas portas serão abrasadas pelo fogo; assim, trabalharam os povos em vão, e para o fogo se afadigaram as nações.
59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah [into] Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And Seraiah [was] a quiet prince.
59 Palavra que mandou Jeremias, o profeta, a Seraías, filho de Nerias, filho de Maaseias, indo este com Zedequias, rei de Judá, à Babilônia, no ano quarto do seu reinado. Seraías era o camareiro-mor.
60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come on Babylon, all these words that are written against Babylon.
60 Escreveu, pois, Jeremias num livro todo o mal que havia de vir sobre a Babilônia, a saber, todas as palavras já escritas contra a Babilônia.
61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When you come to Babylon, and shall see and shall read all these words,
61 Disse Jeremias a Seraías: Quando chegares a Babilônia, vê que leias em voz alta todas estas palavras.
62 then you shall say, O LORD, You have spoken against this place to cut it off, so that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be a ruin forever.
62 E dirás: Ó Senhor ! Falaste a respeito deste lugar que o exterminarias, a fim de que nada fique nele, nem homem nem animal, e que se tornaria em perpétuas assolações.
63 And it shall be, when you have made an end of reading this book, you shall tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of Euphrates.
63 Quando acabares de ler o livro, atá-lo-ás a uma pedra e o lançarás no meio do Eufrates;
64 And you shall say, In this way shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring on her. And they shall be weary. So far [are] the words of Jeremiah.
64 e dirás: Assim será afundada a Babilônia e não se levantará, por causa do mal que eu hei de trazer sobre ela; e os seus moradores sucumbirão. Até aqui as palavras de Jeremias.
