1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place. And he made himself strong against Israel.
1 E Josafá, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar; e fortificou-se contra Israel.
2 And [he] placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set troops in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had taken.
2 E pôs gente de guerra em todas as cidades fortes de Judá e guarnições na terra de Judá, como também nas cidades de Efraim que Asa, seu pai, tinha tomado.
3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the first ways of his father David and did not seek to Baals.
3 E o Senhor foi com Josafá, porque andou nos primeiros caminhos de Davi, seu pai, e não buscou baalins.
4 But he looked to the God of his father, and walked in His commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
4 Antes, buscou ao Deus de seu pai e andou nos seus mandamentos e não segundo as obras de Israel.
5 And the LORD made the kingdom sure in his hand. And all Judah brought presents to Jehoshaphat. And he had great riches and honor.
5 E o Senhor confirmou o reino nas suas mãos, e todo o Judá deu presentes a Josafá; e teve riquezas e glória em abundância.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD. And he took away the high places and Asherahs out of Judah.
6 E exaltou-se o seu coração em seguir os caminhos do Senhor e ainda tirou os altos e os bosques de Judá.
7 And in the third year of his reign he sent to his rulers, to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
7 E, no terceiro ano do seu reinado, enviou ele os seus príncipes, a Ben-Hail, e a Obadias, e a Zacarias, e a Natanael, e a Micaías, para ensinarem nas cidades de Judá.
8 And with them [he sent] Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, Levites. And with them he sent Elishama and Jehoram the priests.
8 E, com eles, os levitas Semaías, e Netanias, e Zebadias, e Asael, e Semiramote, e Jônatas, e Adonias, e Tobias, e Tobe-Adonias; e, com eles, os sacerdotes Elisama e Jeorão.
9 And they taught in Judah and [had] the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went around throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people.
9 E ensinaram em Judá, e tinham consigo o livro da Lei do Senhor , e rodearam todas as cidades de Judá, e ensinaram entre o povo.
10 And the fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
10 E veio o temor do Senhor sobre todos os reinos das terras que estavam em roda de Judá e não guerrearam contra Josafá.
11 And from the Philistines they brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute. Also the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he-goats.
11 E alguns dentre os filisteus traziam presentes a Josafá, com o dinheiro do tributo; também os arábios lhe trouxeram gado miúdo: sete mil e setecentos carneiros e sete mil e setecentos bodes.
12 And Jehoshaphat became exceedingly great. And he built fortresses in Judah, and store cities.
12 Cresceu, pois, Josafá, e se engrandeceu extremamente, e edificou fortalezas e cidades de munições em Judá.
13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah. And the men of war, mighty men of valor, [were] in Jerusalem.
13 E teve muitas obras nas cidades de Judá, e gente de guerra, e varões valentes, em Jerusalém.
14 And these [were] their numbers, for the house of their fathers from Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the chief, and with him were three hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
14 E este é o número deles segundo as casas de seus pais; em Judá, eram chefes dos milhares: o chefe Adna, e, com ele, trezentos mil varões valentes;
15 And on his hand, Jehohanan the chief, and with him were two hundred and eighty thousand.
15 e, após ele, o chefe Joanã, e, com ele, duzentos e oitenta mil;
16 And on his hand, Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to the LORD, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
16 e, após ele, Amazias, filho de Zicri, que voluntariamente se entregou ao Senhor ; e, com ele, duzentos mil varões valentes;
17 And from Benjamin [was] Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand men armed with bow and shield.
17 e, de Benjamim, Eliada, varão valente, e, com ele, duzentos mil, armados de arco e de escudo;
18 And on his hand, Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready and prepared for war.
18 e, após ele, Jozabade, e, com ele, cento e oitenta mil armados para a guerra.
19 These waited on the king, besides [those] whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
19 Estes estavam a serviço do rei, afora os que o rei tinha posto nas cidades fortes por todo o Judá.
