1 The word of the Lord which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the nations:
1 Palavra do Senhor que veio ao profeta Jeremias a respeito das nações.
2 Concerning Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho the king of Egypt, which was posted by the river Euphrates in Karkemish, which Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah.
2 A respeito do Egito, contra o exército de Faraó Neco, rei do Egito, exército que estava junto ao rio Eufrates em Carquemis e que foi derrotado por Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, no quarto ano do reinado de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá:
3 Make ye ready shield and buckler, and draw near to the battle.
3 “Preparem os escudos e as couraças e entrem na batalha!
4 Harness the horses, and mount, ye horsemen, and stand forth with helmets: sharpen the spears, and put on the coats of mail.
4 Ponham arreios nos cavalos e montem, cavaleiros! Tomem posição e ponham os capacetes! Afiem as lanças e vistam as armaduras!”
5 Wherefore have I seen them dismayed, moving backward? while their mighty ones are beaten down, and seek safety in flight, and look not back? There is terror round about, saith the Lord.
5 “Mas o que vejo?” — diz o “Eles ficaram com medo e viraram as costas. Os seus valentes estão derrotados e vão fugindo, sem olhar para trás; há terror por todos os lados.
6 The swift cannot flee away, nor can the mighty man escape: toward the north by the shore of the river Euphrates do they stumble and fall.
6 Aqueles que são ligeiros não podem fugir, e os valentes não conseguem escapar. No Norte, junto ao rio Eufrates, tropeçaram e caíram.”
7 Who is this that cometh up like a stream, whose waters are upheaved like the rivers?
7 “Quem é este que vem subindo como o Nilo, como rios cujas águas se agitam?
8 Egypt cometh up like a stream, and like the rivers are the waters upheaved; and he saith, I will go up, I will cover the land; I will destroy the city and those that dwell therein.
8 O Egito vem subindo como o Nilo, como rios cujas águas se agitam. Ele disse: ‘Subirei, cobrirei a terra, destruirei as cidades e os seus moradores.’
9 Come up, ye horses; and rush along wildly, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth: Cush and Put, that grasp the shield, and the Ludim, that grasp and bend the bow.
9 Avancem, cavalos! Corram furiosamente, carros de guerra! Que saiam os valentes: os etíopes e os de Pute, que manejam o escudo, e os lídios, que manejam e entesam o arco.”
10 And this same day is for the Lord, the Eternal of hosts, a day of vengeance, to be avenged on his adversaries; that the sword may devour, and may be satiated and made drunken with their blood; for there is a sacrifice for the Lord the Eternal of hosts in the north country by the river Euphrates.
10 “Porque este dia é o Dia do Senhor, o dia de vingança contra os seus adversários. A espada os devorará, ficará saciada e embriagada com o sangue deles. Porque o Senhor, o tem um sacrifício na terra do Norte, junto ao rio Eufrates.
11 Go up into Gilad, and fetch balm, O virgin, daughter of Egypt: in vain usest thou many remedies; there is no recovery for thee.
11 Suba a Gileade e consiga bálsamo, ó virgem filha do Egito! É em vão que você multiplica remédios, pois não há cura para você.
12 Nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry of anguish hath filled the earth; for the mighty man over the mighty have they stumbled, together are both of them fallen.
12 As nações ouviram falar da vergonha que você passou, e os seus gritos encheram a terra. Porque um soldado tropeçou no outro, e ambos caíram no chão.”
13 The word which the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, concerning the coming of Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, to smite the land of Egypt.
13 Palavra que o Senhor falou ao profeta Jeremias a respeito da vinda de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, para atacar a terra do Egito:
14 Announce ye in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Thachpanches: say ye, Stand fast, and prepare thyself; for the sword devoureth round about thee.
14 “Anunciem no Egito e proclamem isto em Migdol, Mênfis e Tafnes. Digam: ‘Tomem posição e estejam preparados! Porque a espada já devorou o que está ao redor de vocês.
15 Why are thy valiant men swept away? not one hath stood, because the Lord did drive him off.
15 Por que o seu Touro está caído no chão? Não pôde se manter em pé, porque o
16 He caused many to stumble; yea, one also fell over the other; and they said, Arise, and let us return to our own people, and to the land of our birth, from before the wasting sword.
16 O Senhor multiplicou os que tropeçavam; caíram uns sobre os outros e disseram: ‘Levantem-se, e voltemos ao nosso povo e à terra onde nascemos, por causa da espada que oprime.’
17 They called out there, Pharaoh is king of Egypt, it was but vaunting, he hath let the time appointed pass by.
17 Ali, darão a Faraó, rei do Egito, o apelido de ‘Espalhafatoso Que Perdeu A Oportunidade’.”
18 As I live, saith the King, the Lord of hosts is his name, Surely as Thabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel is by the sea, so shall he come.
18 “Tão certo como eu vivo”, diz o Rei, cujo nome é “e tão certo como o Tabor está entre os montes e o Carmelo está junto ao mar, assim ele virá.”
19 Appurtenances of exile make for thyself, O thou inhabitress, daughter of Egypt; for Noph shall be made a waste and be left desolate without an inhabitant.
19 “Prepare a sua bagagem para o exílio, ó moradora, filha do Egito. Porque Mênfis se tornará em desolação, ficará em ruínas e desabitada.
20 O fairest heifer, Egypt! the butcher from the north cometh, he cometh.
20 O Egito é uma bela novilha, mas uma mutuca do Norte já vem atacá-la; sim, já vem.
21 Also her hired troops in the midst of her are like fatted calves; for they also are turned round, are fled away together, they do not stand; because the day of their calamity is come upon them, the time of their punishment.
21 Até os soldados mercenários no meio deles, que são como bezerros gordos, viraram as costas e fugiram juntos; não resistiram, porque veio sobre eles o dia da sua ruína e o tempo do seu castigo.
22 Her cry shall come like the hissing of a serpent; for with an army shall they march, and with axes do they come against her, like hewers of wood.
22 O Egito faz um ruído como o da serpente que foge, porque os seus inimigos vêm contra ele, com machados, como se fossem cortadores de lenha.
23 They cut down her forest, saith the Lord, though it cannot be searched out; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and there is no number to them.
23 Cortarão a sua floresta”, diz o “ainda que impenetrável, porque se multiplicaram mais do que os gafanhotos; são inumeráveis.
24 Ashamed hath been made the daughter of Egypt: she hath been given up into the hand of the people of the north.
24 A filha do Egito está envergonhada; foi entregue nas mãos do povo do Norte.”
25 The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, hath said, Behold, I will send visitation on Ahmon of No, and on Pharaoh, and on Egypt, and on her gods, and on her kings; even on Pharaoh, and on those that trust on him;
25 O Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, diz: — Eis que eu castigarei Amom, deus de Tebas, e também Faraó, o Egito, os seus deuses e os seus reis, o próprio Faraó e os que confiam nele.
26 And I will give them up into the hand of those that seek their life, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward shall she be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the Lord.
26 Eu os entregarei nas mãos dos que querem matá-los, nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e nas mãos dos seus servos. Porém mais tarde voltará a ser habitada, como nos dias antigos, diz o Senhor.
27 But thou,fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel; for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity: and Jacob shall return, and he shall be at rest and at ease, with none to make him afraid.
27 “Não tenha medo, meu servo Jacó, nem fique assustado, ó Israel. Pois eis que eu o livrarei dessa terra distante e salvarei a sua descendência da terra do exílio; Jacó voltará e ficará tranquilo e sossegado; e não haverá quem o atemorize.
28 Thou,fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the Lord; for I am with thee: and although I make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee, yet of thee will I not make a full end; and I will correct thee in measure; yet wholly will I not leave thee unpunished.
28 Não tenha medo, meu servo Jacó”, diz o “porque eu estou com você. Por isso, destruirei completamente todas as nações por onde o dispersei. A você eu não destruirei completamente, mas castigarei em justa medida; de modo nenhum deixarei você impune.”
