1 On my couch during the nights I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
1 Certa noite, na cama, ansiei por meu amado; ansiei por ele, mas ele não veio.
2 Oh, I must rise now, and go about in the city in the streets, and in the open places; I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
2 Pensei: “Vou me levantar e andar pela cidade, vou procurá-lo em todas as ruas e praças; sim, vou em busca de meu amado”. Procurei por toda parte, mas não o encontrei.
3 Then found me the watchmen that walked about the city. "Have ye seen him whom my soul loveth?"
3 Os guardas me pararam enquanto faziam a ronda, e eu lhes perguntei: “Vocês viram meu amado?”.
4 Scarcely had I passed away from them, when I found him whom my soul loveth: I laid fast hold of him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mothers house, and into the chamber of her that had born me.
4 Pouco depois de me afastar deles, encontrei meu amado! Segurei-o e abracei-o com força; levei-o à casa de minha mãe, à cama onde fui concebida.
5 I adjure you, ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye awaken not, nor excite my love, till it please to come of itself.
5 Prometam, ó mulheres de Jerusalém, pelas gazelas e corças selvagens, que não despertarão o amor antes do tempo. As mulheres de Jerusalém
6 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all spicy powders of the merchant?
6 O que é isso que vem subindo do deserto, como nuvem de fumaça? De onde vem esse perfume de mirra e incenso, o aroma de todo tipo de especiaria?
7 Behold, it is the bed, which is Solomons, sixty valiant men are round about it, of the valiant ones of Israel.
7 Vejam, é a liteira de Salomão, cercada por sessenta homens valentes, os melhores soldados de Israel!
8 All of them are girded with the sword, are expert in war; every one hath his sword upon his thigh, because of the terror in the nights.
8 São todos habilidosos com a espada, guerreiros experientes. Cada um traz sua espada, pronto para defender o rei dos perigos da noite.
9 A palanquin did king Solomon make for himself out of the wood of Lebanon.
9 A liteira do rei Salomão é feita de madeira importada do Líbano.
10 The pillars thereof he made of silver, its coverlid of gold, its seat of purple: its inner part is arranged lovely, by the daughters of Jerusalem.
10 As colunas são de prata, a cobertura as almofadas são de tecido púrpura. Foi enfeitada com carinho pelas mulheres de Jerusalém. A Amada
11 Go forth, and look, O ye daughters of Zion, on king Solomon, with the crown wherewith his mother hath crowned him on the day of his espousals, and on the day of the joy in his heart.
11 Mulheres de Sião, venham ver o rei Salomão! Ele usa a coroa que sua mãe lhe deu no dia em que ele se casou, no dia mais feliz de sua vida.
