Leeser Old Testament (LEESER) vs NTLH
1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, as a lamentation, O house of Israel.
1 Povo de Israel, escute esta canção triste que eu canto a respeito de você:
2 She is fallen, she will not rise againthe virgin of Israel: she is thrown down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
2 “Israel, bela e pura como uma virgem, caiu e nunca mais se levantará! Está caída na sua própria terra, e ninguém a ajuda a se levantar!”
3 For thus hath said the Lord Eternal, The city that goeth forth with a thousand shall retain but a hundred, and she that goeth forth with a hundred shall retain but ten, left to the house of Israel.
3 O Senhor Deus diz: — Se uma cidade mandar mil homens para a guerra, somente cem voltarão vivos; se mandar cem homens, somente dez voltarão.
4 For thus hath said the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye for me, and ye shall live;
4 O Senhor diz isto ao povo de Israel: — Voltem para mim a fim de que tenham vida.
5 But seek not for Bethel, and into Gilgal enter not, and to Beersheba do not pass over; for Gilgal shall surely go into exile, and Bethel shall become naught.
5 Mas não me procurem em Betel, nem em Gilgal, nem em Berseba, pois o povo de Gilgal será levado como prisioneiro para fora do país, e a cidade de Betel vai ficar em ruínas.
6 Seek for the Lord, and ye shall live: so that he come not suddenly like fire over the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Bethel;
6 Voltem para o Senhor e vocês viverão. Se não voltarem, ele descerá como fogo para destruir o país de Israel, e em Betel ninguém poderá apagar esse fogo.
7 Ye who change justice into wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth!
7 Em vez de praticarem a justiça, vocês praticam a injustiça, que causa amargura, e não respeitam os direitos dos outros.
8 But he maketh the seven stars and Orion, and changeth into morning the shadow of death, and maketh the day dark into night; he it is that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out over the face of the earth: The Lord is his name;
8 O Senhor Deus criou as estrelas, as Sete-Cabrinhas e as Três-Marias. Ele faz a noite virar dia e o dia virar noite. Ele chama as águas do mar e as derrama sobre a terra. O seu nome é
9 That causeth wasting to prevail against the strong, so that wasting shall come against the fortress.
9 Ele acaba com os poderosos e destrói as suas fortalezas.
10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and him that speaketh uprightly they abhor.
10 Vocês têm ódio daqueles que defendem a justiça e detestam as testemunhas que falam a verdade;
11 Therefore forasmuch as you tread down upon the poor, and ye take from him onerous contributions of corn: if ye have built houses of hewn stone, ye shall not dwell in them; if ye have planted pleasant vineyards, ye shall not drink their wine.
11 vocês exploram os pobres e cobram impostos injustos das suas colheitas. Por isso, vocês não vão viver nas casas luxuosas que construíram, nem chegarão a beber o vinho das belas parreiras que plantaram.
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your numerous sins: ye are those that are the adversaries of the just, that take a ransom, and that wrest the cause of the needy in the gate.
12 Eu sei das muitas maldades e dos graves pecados que vocês cometem. Vocês maltratam as pessoas honestas, aceitam dinheiro para torcer a justiça e não respeitam os direitos dos pobres.
13 Therefore will the intelligent keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
13 Não admira que num tempo mau como este as pessoas que têm juízo fiquem de boca fechada!
14 Seek for the good, and not the evil, in order that ye may live: and so will the Lord, the God of hosts, be with you, as ye have said.
14 Procurem fazer o que é certo e não o que é errado, para que vocês vivam. Assim será verdade o que vocês dizem, isto é, que o Senhor , o Deus Todo-Poderoso, está com vocês.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice firmly in the gate: perhaps the Lord the God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
15 Odeiem aquilo que é mau, amem o que é bom e façam com que os direitos de todos sejam respeitados nos tribunais. Talvez o Senhor , o Deus Todo-Poderoso, tenha compaixão das pessoas do seu povo que escaparem da destruição.
16 Therefore thus hath said the Eternal, the God of hosts, the Lord, On all public places there is lamentation, and in all the streets they cry, Woe! woe! and they call the husbandman to mourning, and to lamentation those skilled in wailing.
16 O Senhor , o Deus Todo-Poderoso, diz: — Haverá gritos de dor em todas as cidades, e as ruas ficarão cheias de gente chorando. Até lavradores serão chamados para chorar pelos defuntos, junto com as pessoas que são pagas para fazer isso.
17 And in all vineyards there is lamentation; for I will pass through thy midst, saith the Lord.
17 Haverá choro em todas as plantações de uvas. E tudo isso acontecerá porque eu virei castigá-los. Eu, o Senhor , estou falando.
18 Woe unto you that long for the day of the Lord! for what do you wish the day of the Lord? it is one of darkness, and not of light.
18 Ai dos que querem que venha o Dia do Senhor ! Por que é que vocês querem esse dia? Pois será um dia de escuridão e não de luz.
19 As if a man were to flee from a lion, and a bear should meet him; and he enter into the house, and lean his hand against the wall, and a serpent should bite him.
19 Será como um homem que foge de um leão e dá de cara com um urso; ou como alguém que entra em casa e encosta a mão na parede e é picado por uma cobra.
20 Behold the day of the Lord is one of darkness, and not of light; yea, it is obscure, and hath no brightness.
20 O Dia do Senhor não será um dia de luz; pelo contrário, será um dia de trevas, de escuridão total.
21 I hate, I despise your feastdays, and I will not smell the sacrifices on your festive assemblies.
21 O Senhor diz ao seu povo: — Eu odeio, eu detesto as suas festas religiosas; não tolero as suas reuniões solenes.
22 For though ye should offer me burntofferings and your meatofferings, I will not accept them in favor: and the peaceofferings of your fatted cattle will I not look at.
22 Não aceito animais que são queimados em sacrifício , nem as ofertas de cereais, nem os animais gordos que vocês oferecem como sacrifícios de paz.
23 Remove thou from around me the noise of thy songs: and the playing of thy psalteries I will not hear.
23 Parem com o barulho das suas canções religiosas; não quero mais ouvir a música de harpas .
24 But let justice roll along like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream.
24 Em vez disso, quero que haja tanta justiça como as águas de uma enchente e que a honestidade seja como um rio que não para de correr.
25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and meatofferings in the wilderness during forty years, O house of Israel?
25 — Povo de Israel, por acaso, vocês me apresentaram sacrifícios e ofertas de cereais durante os quarenta anos em que estiveram no deserto?
26 Bear then the canopy of your chief idol, and the figure of your images, the star of your god, which ye have made for yourselves.
26 Agora, vocês vão sair carregando as imagens do deus Sicute e da estrela Quium , que vocês fizeram para adorar. Vocês vão carregar essas imagens
27 And I will cause you to go into exile far beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, The God of hosts is his name.
27 quando eu os levar como prisioneiros para lá de Damasco. Eu, o Senhor , o Deus Todo-Poderoso, estou falando.
