1 And it came to pass after this, that David smote the Philistines, and humbled them: and David took Metheg–haammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
1 Depois disto, feriu Davi os filisteus e os sujeitou; e tomou de suas mãos as rédeas da metrópole.
2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, laying them down on the ground; and he measured with two lines to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became David’s servants, bringing presents.
2 Também derrotou os moabitas; fê-los deitar em terra e os mediu: duas vezes um cordel, para os matar; uma vez um cordel, para os deixar com vida. Assim, ficaram os moabitas por servos de Davi e lhe pagavam tributo.
3 David smote also Hadad’ezer, the son of Rechob, the king of Zobah, as he went to extend his territory at the river Euphrates.
3 Também Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá, foi derrotado por Davi, quando aquele foi restabelecer o seu domínio sobre o rio Eufrates.
4 And David captured from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand men on foot: and David hamstringed all the chariot–teams, but reserved of them a hundred chariot–teams.
4 Tomou-lhe Davi mil e setecentos cavaleiros e vinte mil homens de pé; Davi jarretou todos os cavalos dos carros, menos para cem deles.
5 And the Syrians of Damascus then came to aid Hadad’ezer, the king of Zobah, when David slew of the Syrians twenty and two thousand men.
5 Vieram os siros de Damasco a socorrer Hadadezer, rei de Zobá; porém Davi matou dos siros vinte e dois mil homens.
6 And David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, bearing presents. And the Lord helped David whithersoever he went.
6 Davi pôs guarnições na Síria de Damasco, e os siros ficaram por servos de Davi e lhe pagavam tributo; e o Senhor dava vitórias a Davi, por onde quer que ia.
7 And David took the shields of gold that belonged to the servants of Hadad’ezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
7 Tomou Davi os escudos de ouro que havia com os oficiais de Hadadezer e os trouxe a Jerusalém.
8 And from Betach, and from Berothai, cities of Hadad’ezer, did king David take exceedingly much copper.
8 Tomou mais o rei Davi mui grande quantidade de bronze de Betá e de Berotai, cidades de Hadadezer.
9 And when To’i the king of Chamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadad’ezer,
9 Então, ouvindo Toí, rei de Hamate, que Davi derrotara a todo o exército de Hadadezer,
10 Then did To’i send Yoram his son unto king David, to ask him after his well–being, and to bless him, because that he had fought against Hadad’ezer, and smitten him; for Hadad’ezer had been engaged in wars with To’i; and he had in his hand vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of copper:
10 mandou seu filho Jorão ao rei Davi, para o saudar e congratular-se com ele por haver pelejado contra Hadadezer e por havê-lo ferido (porque Hadadezer de contínuo fazia guerra a Toí). Jorão trouxe consigo objetos de prata, de ouro e de bronze,
11 These also did king David sanctify unto the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had sanctified from all the nations which he subdued;
11 os quais também o rei Davi consagrou ao Senhor , juntamente com a prata e o ouro que já havia consagrado de todas as nações que sujeitara:
12 From Syria, and from Moab, and from the children of ‘Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from ‘Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadad’ezer, the son of Rechob, the king of Zobah.
12 da Síria, de Moabe, dos filhos de Amom, dos filisteus, de Amaleque e dos despojos de Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá.
13 And David acquired a name when he returned from his smiting the Syrians in the valley of salt, eighteen thousand men.
13 Ganhou Davi renome, quando, ao voltar de ferir os siros, matou dezoito mil homens no vale do Sal.
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David whithersoever he went.
14 Pôs guarnições em Edom, em todo o Edom pôs guarnições, e todos os edomitas ficaram por servos de Davi; e o Senhor dava vitórias a Davi, por onde quer que ia.
15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David did what is just and right unto all his people.
15 Reinou, pois, Davi sobre todo o Israel; julgava e fazia justiça a todo o seu povo.
16 And Joab the son of Zeruyah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Achilud was recorder;
16 Joabe, filho de Zeruia, era comandante do exército; Josafá, filho de Ailude, era cronista.
17 And Zadok the son of Achitub, and Achimelech the son of Ebyathar, were priests; and Serayah was scribe;
17 Zadoque, filho de Aitube, e Aimeleque, filho de Abiatar, eram sacerdotes, e Seraías, escrivão.
18 And Banayahu the son of Yehoyada’ was over both the Kerethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were officers of state.
18 E Benaia, filho de Joiada, era o comandante da guarda real. Os filhos de Davi, porém, eram seus ministros.
