1 And David consulted with the officers of the thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
1 Davi consultou todos os seus oficiais, incluindo os generais e capitães de seu exército.
2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, if it seem good unto you, and if it be of the Lord our God, let us send widely about unto our brethren who are left in all the lands of Israel, and with them unto the priests and Levites who are in their cities and open districts, that they may gather themselves together unto us.
2 Em seguida, dirigiu-se a toda a comunidade de Israel e disse: “Se vocês estiverem de acordo, e se for da vontade do S enhor , nosso Deus, enviemos uma mensagem aos israelitas por toda a terra, incluindo os sacerdotes e levitas em suas cidades, com suas pastagens, para que se unam a nós.
3 And let us bring round the ark of our God to us; for we have inquired not at it in the days of Saul.
3 É hora de trazermos de volta a arca de nosso Deus, pois descuidamos dela durante o reinado de Saul”.
4 And all the congregation said that this should be done; for the king was right in the eyes of all the people.
4 Toda a comunidade concordou, pois o povo entendeu que era a coisa certa a fazer.
5 So David assembled all Israel together, from Shichor of Egypt even unto the entrance of Chemath, to bring the ark of God from Kiryath–ye’arim.
5 Então Davi convocou todos os israelitas, desde o ribeiro Sior, no Egito, ao sul, até Lebo-Hamate, ao norte, para trazerem a arca de Deus, que estava em Quiriate-Jearim.
6 And David went up, with all Israel, to Ba’alah, that is to Kiryath–ye’arim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubim, whose name is called on it.
6 Davi e todo o Israel foram a Baalá de Judá (também chamada de Quiriate-Jearim), a fim de buscar a arca de Deus, junto à qual era invocado o nome do S enhor , que está entronizado entre os querubins.
7 And they conveyed the ark of God in a new wagon out of the house of Abinadab: and ‘Uzza and Achyo guided the wagon.
7 Puseram a arca de Deus numa carroça nova e a levaram da casa de Abinadabe. Uzá e Aiô guiavam a carroça.
8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and on harps, and on psalteries, and on tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
8 Davi e todo o Israel se alegravam diante de Deus com todas as suas forças, entoando cânticos e tocando todo tipo de instrumentos musicais: liras, harpas, tamborins, címbalos e trombetas.
9 And when they came as far as the threshing–floor of Kidon, ‘Uzza put forth his hand to take hold of the ark; for the oxen shook it.
9 Quando chegaram à eira de Nacom, os bois que puxavam a carroça tropeçaram, e Uzá estendeu a mão para segurar a arca.
10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against ‘Uzza, and he smote him, because he had put forth his hand toward the ark: and he died there before God.
10 A ira do S enhor se acendeu contra Uzá, e ele o matou por haver tocado na arca. E Uzá morreu ali mesmo, na presença de Deus.
11 And it was grievious to David, because the Lord had suddenly taken away ‘Uzza; and he called that place Perez–’uzza Breach of ‘Uzza until this day.
11 Davi ficou indignado porque a ira do S enhor irrompeu contra Uzá e chamou aquele lugar de Perez-Uzá, como é conhecido até hoje.
12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring home to me the ark of God?
12 Davi teve medo do S enhor e perguntou: “Como poderei levar a arca do S enhor ?”.
13 So David removed not the ark unto himself into the city of David, but had it carried round into the house of ‘Obed–edom the Gittite.
13 Assim, não transferiu a arca do S enhor para a Cidade de Davi. Em vez disso, levou-a para a casa de Obede-Edom, na cidade de Gate.
14 And the ark of God remained in the house of ‘Obed–edom, in his house, three months. And the Lord blessed the house of ‘Obed–edom, and all that belonged to him.
14 A arca do S enhor ficou na casa de Obede-Edom por três meses, e o S enhor abençoou a família de Obede-Edom e tudo que ele possuía.
