1 And David consulted with the officers of the thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
1 Consultou Davi os capitães de mil, e os de cem, e todos os príncipes;
2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, if it seem good unto you, and if it be of the Lord our God, let us send widely about unto our brethren who are left in all the lands of Israel, and with them unto the priests and Levites who are in their cities and open districts, that they may gather themselves together unto us.
2 e disse a toda a congregação de Israel: Se bem vos parece, e se vem isso do Senhor , nosso Deus, enviemos depressa mensageiros a todos os nossos outros irmãos em todas as terras de Israel, e aos sacerdotes, e aos levitas com eles nas cidades e nos seus arredores, para que se reúnam conosco;
3 And let us bring round the ark of our God to us; for we have inquired not at it in the days of Saul.
3 tornemos a trazer para nós a arca do nosso Deus; porque nos dias de Saul não nos valemos dela.
4 And all the congregation said that this should be done; for the king was right in the eyes of all the people.
4 Então, toda a congregação concordou em que assim se fizesse; porque isso pareceu justo aos olhos de todo o povo.
5 So David assembled all Israel together, from Shichor of Egypt even unto the entrance of Chemath, to bring the ark of God from Kiryath–ye’arim.
5 Reuniu, pois, Davi a todo o Israel, desde Sior do Egito até à entrada de Hamate, para trazer a arca de Deus de Quiriate-Jearim.
6 And David went up, with all Israel, to Ba’alah, that is to Kiryath–ye’arim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubim, whose name is called on it.
6 Então, Davi, com todo o Israel, subiu a Baalá, isto é, a Quiriate-Jearim, que está em Judá, para fazer subir dali a arca de Deus, diante da qual é invocado o nome do Senhor , que se assenta acima dos querubins.
7 And they conveyed the ark of God in a new wagon out of the house of Abinadab: and ‘Uzza and Achyo guided the wagon.
7 Puseram a arca de Deus num carro novo e a levaram da casa de Abinadabe; e Uzá e Aiô guiavam o carro.
8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and on harps, and on psalteries, and on tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
8 Davi e todo o Israel alegravam-se perante Deus, com todo o seu empenho; em cânticos, com harpas, com alaúdes, com tamboris, com címbalos e com trombetas.
9 And when they came as far as the threshing–floor of Kidon, ‘Uzza put forth his hand to take hold of the ark; for the oxen shook it.
9 Quando chegaram à eira de Quidom, estendeu Uzá a mão à arca para a segurar, porque os bois tropeçaram.
10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against ‘Uzza, and he smote him, because he had put forth his hand toward the ark: and he died there before God.
10 Então, a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra Uzá e o feriu, por ter estendido a mão à arca; e morreu ali perante Deus.
11 And it was grievious to David, because the Lord had suddenly taken away ‘Uzza; and he called that place Perez–’uzza Breach of ‘Uzza until this day.
11 Desgostou-se Davi, porque o Senhor irrompera contra Uzá; pelo que chamou àquele lugar Perez-Uzá, até ao dia de hoje.
12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring home to me the ark of God?
12 Temeu Davi a Deus, naquele dia, e disse: Como trarei a mim a arca de Deus?
13 So David removed not the ark unto himself into the city of David, but had it carried round into the house of ‘Obed–edom the Gittite.
13 Pelo que Davi não trouxe a arca para si, para a Cidade de Davi; mas a fez levar à casa de Obede-Edom, o geteu.
14 And the ark of God remained in the house of ‘Obed–edom, in his house, three months. And the Lord blessed the house of ‘Obed–edom, and all that belonged to him.
14 Assim, ficou a arca de Deus com a família de Obede-Edom, três meses em sua casa; e o Senhor abençoou a casa de Obede-Edom e tudo o que ele tinha.
