1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
1 O Senhor, dirigindo-se a Jó, lhe disse:
2 Shall he that contends with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproves God, let him answer it.
2 Aquele que disputa com o Todo-poderoso apresente suas críticas! Aquele que discute com Deus responda!
3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
3 Jó respondeu ao Senhor nestes termos:
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer you? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.
4 Leviano como sou, que posso responder-te? Ponho minha mão na boca;
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
5 falei uma vez, não repetirei, duas vezes... nada acrescentarei.
6 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
6 Então, do seio da tempestade, o Senhor deu a Jó esta resposta:
7 Gird up your loins now like a man: I will demand of you, and declare you unto me.
7 Cinge os teus rins como um homem; vou interrogar-te, tu me responderás.
8 Will you also annul my judgment? will you condemn me, that you may be righteous?
8 Queres reduzir a nada a minha justiça, e condenar-me antes de ter razão?
9 Have you an arm like God? or can you thunder with a voice like him?
9 Tens um braço semelhante ao de Deus, e uma voz troante como a dele?
10 Deck yourself now with majesty and splendor; and array yourself with glory and beauty.
10 Orna-te então de grandeza e majestade, reveste-te de esplendor e glória!
11 Put forth the rage of your wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
11 Espalha as ondas de tua cólera. Com um olhar, abaixa todo o orgulho;
12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
12 com um olhar, humilha o soberbo, esmaga os maus no mesmo lugar em que eles estão.
13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
13 Mete-os todos juntos debaixo da terra, amarra-lhes os rostos num lugar escondido.
14 Then will I also confess unto you that your own right hand can save you.
14 Então eu também te louvarei por triunfares pela força de tua mão.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with you; he eats grass as an ox.
15 Vê Beemot, que criei contigo, nutre-se de erva como o boi.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly.
16 Sua força reside nos rins, e seu vigor nos músculos do ventre.
17 He moves his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
17 Levanta sua cauda como {um ramo} de cedro, os nervos de suas coxas são entrelaçados.
18 His bones are as strong pieces of bronze; his bones are like bars of iron.
18 Seus ossos são tubos de bronze, sua estrutura é feita de barras de ferro.
19 He is the first of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
19 É obra-prima de Deus, foi criado como o soberano de seus companheiros.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
20 As montanhas fornecem-lhe a pastagem, os animais dos campos divertem-se em volta dele.
21 He lies under the shady trees, in the hiding of the reeds, and marsh.
21 Deita-se sob os lótus, no segredo dos caniços e dos brejos;
22 The shady trees cover him with their shade; the willows of the brook surround him.
22 os lótus cobrem-no com sua sombra, os salgueiros da margem o cercam.
23 Behold, though a river rages, he fears not: he is confident though the Jordan rushes into his mouth.
23 Quando o rio transborda, ele não se assusta; mesmo que o Jordão levantasse até a sua boca, ele ficaria tranqüilo.
24 He takes it with his eyes: his nose pierces through snares.
24 Quem o seguraria pela frente, e lhe furaria as ventas para nelas passar cordas?
