1 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs; O God, to whom vengeance belongs, show thyself.
1 Ó Senhor, Deus vingador; Deus vingador! Intervém!
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
2 Levanta-te, Juiz da terra; retribui aos orgulhosos o que merecem.
3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
3 Até quando os ímpios, Senhor, até quando os ímpios exultarão?
4 [How long] shall they utter [and] speak hard things? [and] all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
4 Eles despejam palavras arrogantes, todos esses malfeitores enchem-se de vanglória.
5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thy heritage.
5 Massacram o teu povo, Senhor, e oprimem a tua herança;
6 They slay the widow and the stranger and murder the fatherless.
6 matam as viúvas e os estrangeiros, assassinam os órfãos,
7 Yet they say, JAH shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard [it].
7 e ainda dizem: "O Senhor não nos vê; o Deus de Jacó nada percebe".
8 Understand, ye carnal [ones] among the people, and, [ye] fools, when will ye be wise?
8 Insensatos, procurem entender! E vocês, tolos, quando se tornarão sábios?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
9 Será que quem fez o ouvido não ouve? Será que quem formou o olho não vê?
10 He that chastens the Gentiles, shall he not correct? he that teaches man knowledge, [shall not he know]?
10 Aquele que disciplina as nações os deixará sem castigo? Não tem sabedoria aquele que dá ao homem o conhecimento?
11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they [are] vanity.
11 O Senhor conhece os pensamentos do homem, e sabe como são fúteis.
12 Blessed [is] the man whom thou dost chasten, O JAH, and teach him out of thy law,
12 Como é feliz o homem a quem disciplinas, Senhor, aquele a quem ensinas a tua lei;
13 to cause him to rest in the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.
13 tranqüilo, enfrentará os dias maus, enquanto que, para os ímpios, uma cova se abrirá.
14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
14 O Senhor não desamparará o seu povo; jamais abandonará a sua herança.
15 But the judgment shall be returned unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
15 Voltará a haver justiça nos julgamentos, e todos os retos de coração a seguirão.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? [or] who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
16 Quem se levantará a meu favor contra os ímpios? Quem ficará a meu lado contra os malfeitores?
17 Unless the LORD [had been] my help, my soul would have quickly dwelt [with] the dead.
17 Não fosse a ajuda do Senhor, eu já estaria habitando no silêncio.
18 When I said, My foot slips, thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
18 Quando eu disse: "Os meus pés escorregaram", o teu amor leal, Senhor, me amparou!
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul.
19 Quando a ansiedade já me dominava no íntimo, o teu consolo trouxe alívio à minha alma.
20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, who creates toil under [the guise of] law?
20 Poderá um trono corrupto estar em aliança contigo?, um trono que faz injustiças em nome da lei?
21 They gather [themselves together] as an army against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood.
21 Eles planejam contra a vida dos justos e condenam os inocentes à morte.
22 But the LORD is my refuge, and my God [is] the rock of my trust.
22 Mas o Senhor é a minha torre segura; o meu Deus é a rocha em que encontro refúgio.
23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; [yea], the LORD our God shall cut them off.:
23 Fará cair sobre eles os seus crimes, e os destruirá por causa dos seus pecados; o Senhor, o nosso Deus, os destruirá!
