1 Do not rejoice, O Israel, for joy, as the peoples; for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved the [salary of a harlot] upon every threshing floor.
1 Povo de Israel, deixe de se alegrar, pare de fazer festas como os outros povos fazem. Vocês abandonaram a Deus e adoraram ídolos. Em todos os terreiros onde o trigo é malhado, vocês se venderam como prostitutas ao deus Baal e gostaram do pagamento que receberam dele.
2 The threshing floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
2 Mas daqui a pouco não haverá trigo nem azeite, e faltará vinho.
3 They shall not remain in the land of the LORD; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt and to Assyria where they shall eat unclean food.
3 O povo de Israel não ficará na terra de Deus, o Senhor , mas precisará voltar para o Egito e na Assíria comerá alimentos impuros .
4 They shall not pour out wine unto the LORD, neither shall he take pleasure in their sacrifices; as the bread of mourners [shall they be] unto them; all that eat thereof shall be polluted; for their bread shall not enter into the house of the LORD because of their soul.
4 Naqueles países, eles não poderão fazer ofertas de vinho ao Senhor , nem oferecer os sacrifícios de que ele gosta. A comida que comerem será como a que é servida num velório , e todos os que a comerem ficarão impuros. Não poderão apresentar ofertas de alimento no Templo do Senhor ; só poderão comê-las.
5 What will ye do in the solemn day, and [in] the day of the feast of the LORD?
5 E o que é que eles vão fazer quando chegarem os dias das festas realizadas em honra do Senhor ?
6 For, behold, they have left because of the destruction; Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: nettles shall possess in inheritance that which is desirable of their silver; thorns [shall grow up] in their dwellings.
6 Vão fugir para não serem destruídos, mas os egípcios os pegarão e os sepultarão na cidade de Mênfis. Os seus preciosos objetos de prata serão cobertos de espinheiros, e o mato tomará conta das suas casas.
7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come; Israel shall know [it]; the prophet [is] a fool, the spiritual man [is] a fool, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and [the] great hatred.
7 Está chegando o dia do castigo, o dia em que Deus castigará o seu povo. E que o povo de Israel fique sabendo disso! Mas vocês dizem: “Esse profeta está maluco! Diz que é inspirado, mas é louco!” Vocês falam assim porque estão cheios de maldade e de ódio.
8 The watchman of Ephraim regarding my God, the prophet, [is a] snare of [a] fowler in all his ways, hatred in the house of his God.
8 Deus me mandou como profeta para avisar o seu povo, mas em todos os lugares eles armam armadilhas para me pegar. Até no Templo de Deus eles me perseguem!
9 They have arrived at the depths, they have corrupted [themselves] as in the days of Gibeah; [therefore] he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sin.
9 Eles se afundaram tanto no pecado quanto o povo que estava em Gibeá . Deus lembrará dos pecados deles e os castigará.
10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the early fruit of the fig tree in her beginning; [but] they went in unto Baalpeor and separated themselves unto shame and made themselves as abominable as that which they loved.
10 O Senhor Deus diz: — Quando encontrei Israel pela primeira vez, fiquei alegre como quem acha uvas no deserto e, ao ver os antepassados de vocês, fiquei contente como quem vê os primeiros figos maduros. Mas, quando eles chegaram ao monte Peor, ali começaram a adorar o deus
11 [As for] Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth even from the womb and from the conception.
11 A grandeza de Israel irá embora, voando como uma ave. Não nascerão mais crianças: as mulheres não ficarão grávidas e não darão à luz.
12 Though they bring up their sons, yet I will bereave them, [that there shall] not [be] a man [left]; yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!
12 Ainda que criem filhos, eu os levarei embora; não deixarei nem um só. Ai desse povo quando eu me afastar dele!
13 Ephraim, as I saw Tyre, [is] planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim shall bring forth his sons to the murderer.
13 Eu via Israel como se fosse a cidade de Tiro, plantada num lugar agradável; mas Israel levará os seus filhos para serem mortos.
14 Give them, O LORD that which thou must give them; give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
14 Ó Senhor Deus, o que é que vais fazer com este povo? Faze com que as mulheres não possam ter filhos! E, se tiverem, seca o seu leite, para que não possam dar de mamar!
15 All their wickedness [was] in Gilgal, for there I took a dislike to them; for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of my house, I will never love them again: all their princes [are] disloyal.
15 O Senhor Deus diz: — Toda a maldade do povo de Israel começou na cidade de Gilgal, e foi ali que comecei a odiá-los. E, por causa dos seus pecados, eu os expulsarei da minha terra. Daqui em diante, não os amarei mais. Todos os seus chefes se revoltaram contra mim.
16 Ephraim was smitten, their root is dried up; they shall bear no more fruit; even though they bring forth, yet I will slay [even] the desirable [fruit] of their womb.
16 Israel está ferido; é como uma árvore que não dá frutas porque as suas raízes secaram. Mesmo que nasçam crianças, eu matarei esses filhos tão queridos.
17 My God will cast them away because they did not hearken unto him; and they shall be wanderers among the Gentiles.:
17 O meu Deus rejeitará o seu povo porque eles não lhe obedecem. E eles andarão sem rumo entre as outras nações.
