1 When I was healing Israel, the iniquity of Ephraim was uncovered, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they worked deceit; and the thief comes in, [and] the troop of robbers spoils without.
1 “Desejo curar Israel, mas seus pecados são grandes demais; Samaria está cheia de mentirosos. Há ladrões do lado de dentro e bandidos do lado de fora.
2 And they do not consider in their hearts [that] I remember all their wickedness; now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.
2 Seu povo não percebe que eu o observo. Está cercado por seus atos pecaminosos, e eu vejo todos eles.
3 They make the king glad with their wickedness and the princes with their lies.
3 “Com suas maldades, divertem o rei, e os príncipes riem de suas mentiras.
4 They [are] all adulterers as an oven heated by the baker [who] shall cease from waking after he has kneaded the dough until it is leavened.
4 São todos adúlteros, sempre ardendo de paixão. São como o forno mantido quente, enquanto o padeiro bate a massa.
5 In the day of our king the princes have made [him] sick with [a] wineskin; he stretched out his hand with the scorners.
5 No dia da festa do rei, os príncipes se embebedam com vinho e dão as mãos aos zombadores.
6 For they have made ready their heart like an oven while they lie in wait; their baker sleeps all night; in the morning it burns as a flaming fire.
6 Seu coração é como um forno que arde com intriga. Sua trama queima e, pela manhã, irrompe em chamas abrasadoras.
7 They are all hot as an oven and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen; [there is] no one among them that calls unto me.
7 Como um forno ardente, consomem seus líderes. Matam seus reis, um após o outro, e ninguém clama a mim por socorro.
8 Ephraim, he has mixed himself among the peoples; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
8 “O povo de Israel se mistura com outros povos e se torna imprestável como um bolo mal assado.
9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he does not know [it]; yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he does not understand.
9 Estrangeiros consomem suas forças, mas eles não sabem disso. Seus cabelos ficam brancos, mas eles não se dão conta.
10 And the pride of Israel shall testify to his face, and they have not returned to the LORD their God, nor have they sought him with all this.
10 Sua arrogância testemunha contra eles, e, no entanto, não se voltam para o S nem buscam encontrá-lo.
11 Ephraim also was like a deceived dove, without understanding; they shall call to Egypt, they shall go to Assyria.
11 “O povo de Israel se tornou como pombas tolas e sem juízo, que primeiro chamam o Egito e depois voam até a Assíria para pedir socorro.
12 When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them according to what has been heard in their congregations.
12 Enquanto voam de um lado para o outro, lançarei sobre eles minha rede e os derrubarei como uma ave do céu; eu os castigarei por todo o mal que fizeram.
13 Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction upon them! because they have rebelled against me; [though] I have ransomed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
13 “Que aflição espera os que me abandonaram! Que morram, pois se rebelaram contra mim. Eu desejava resgatá-los, mas contaram mentiras a meu respeito.
14 And they have not cried unto me with their heart when they howled upon their beds; they congregated themselves for the wheat and the wine, [and] they rebelled against me.
14 Não clamam a mim de coração sincero; em vez disso, gemem angustiados em suas camas. Cortam-se mas de mim se afastam.
15 Though I have bound [and] strengthened their arms, yet they imagine evil against me.
15 Eu os instruí e os fortaleci, mas agora tramam o mal contra mim.
16 They returned, [but] not to the most High; they were like a deceitful bow; their princes fell by the sword for the arrogance of their tongue; this [shall be] their derision in the land of Egypt.:
16 Olham para toda parte, menos para o Altíssimo; são inúteis, como um arco defeituoso. Seus líderes serão mortos por seus inimigos, por causa de sua insolência contra mim. Então o povo do Egito rirá deles.”
