1 Oh that thou would rend the heavens, that thou would come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
1 Como gostaríamos que tu rasgasses os céus e descesses, fazendo as montanhas tremerem diante de ti!
2 as [when] the melting fire burns, the fire causes the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, [that] the Gentiles may tremble at thy presence!
2 Elas seriam como a água que ferve em cima de um fogo forte. Os teus inimigos reconheceriam a tua fama e tremeriam de medo diante de ti.
3 [As] thou didst come down when thou didst terrible things [which] we did not look for, [that] the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
3 Quando fizeste coisas maravilhosas, que nós nem esperávamos, tu desceste do céu, e as montanhas tremeram diante de ti.
4 Nor have [men] heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen a God beside thee, that thou might do [it again] for the one who waits in him.
4 Nunca ninguém viu ou ouviu falar de outro deus além de ti, de um deus que faz coisas assim em favor dos que confiam nele.
5 Thou didst come out to meet him that with rejoicing had worked righteousness. In thy ways they remembered thee. Behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: thy ways are eternal, and [we] shall be saved.
5 Tu aceitas os que fazem com prazer o que é direito, os que lembram de viver de acordo com a tua vontade. Tu estavas irado conosco, mas nós continuamos a pecar; só seremos salvos se andarmos nos caminhos antigos.
6 But we were all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses as filthy rags; and we all fell as the leaves [of a tree]; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
6 Todos nós nos tornamos impuros , todas as nossas boas ações são como trapos sujos. Somos como folhas secas; e os nossos pecados, como uma ventania, nos carregam para longe.
7 And [there is] none that calls upon thy name, that wakes himself up to take hold [of thee]; therefore, thou hast hid thy face from us and hast allowed us to wither in the power of our iniquities.
7 Não há mais ninguém que ore a ti, ninguém que procure a tua ajuda. Por causa dos nossos pecados, tu te escondeste de nós e nos abandonaste.
8 But now, O LORD, thou [art] our father; we [are] the clay, and thou our potter; such that we all [are] the work of thy hands.
8 Mas tu, ó Senhor Deus, és o nosso Pai; nós somos o barro, tu és o oleiro, todos nós fomos feitos por ti.
9 Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever; behold, see, we beseech thee, we [are] all thy people.
9 Não continues tão irado, ó Senhor , nem lembres para sempre os nossos pecados. Não esqueças que somos o teu povo.
10 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
10 As tuas santas cidades viraram um deserto, Jerusalém está arrasada, o
11 Our house of our Sanctuary and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, was burned up with fire; and all our precious things were destroyed.
11 O nosso belo e sagrado Templo, onde os nossos antepassados te louvaram, foi destruído pelo fogo. Tudo o que amávamos está em ruínas!
12 Wilt thou refrain thyself regarding these [things], O LORD? Wilt thou hold thy peace and afflict us very sore?:
12 Vendo tudo isso, ó Senhor , não vais fazer nada? Será que vais ficar calado e nos castigar mais ainda?
