1 Hiram, king of Tyre, also sent his servants unto Solomon when he heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father; for Hiram had always loved David.
1 E Hirão, o rei de Tiro, enviou os seus servos até Salomão; porque ele havia ouvido que lhe haviam ungido rei no lugar do seu pai; porquanto Hirão sempre teve amizade por Davi.
2 Then Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
2 E Salomão enviou a Hirão, dizendo:
3 Thou knowest how David, my father, could not build a house unto the name of the LORD his God, for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put [his enemies] under the soles of his feet.
3 Tu sabes que Davi, o meu pai, não pôde edificar uma casa para o nome do SENHOR seu Deus, por causa das guerras que estiveram junto a ele por todos os lados, até que o SENHOR os colocou debaixo das solas dos seus pés.
4 Now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side [so that there is] neither adversary nor evil encounter.
4 Agora, porém, o SENHOR meu Deus me deu descanso em todos os lados, de forma que não há nem adversário, nem mal que ocorra.
5 And, therefore, I have determined to build a house unto the name of the LORD my God as the LORD spoke unto David, my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy place, he shall build a house unto my name.
5 E, eis que me proponho a construir uma casa para o nome do SENHOR meu Deus, como o SENHOR falou a Davi, o meu pai, dizendo: O teu filho, sobre quem porei no teu trono, em teu lugar, ele edificará uma casa para o meu nome.
6 Command, therefore, now that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon, and my servants shall be with thy servants, and I will give thee for thy servants the hire that thou shalt appoint, for thou knowest that [there is] no one among us with the skill to hew timber like the Sidonians.
6 Agora, portanto, ordena que eles me cortem cedros do Líbano; e os meus servos serão com os teus servos; e a ti darei o salário dos teus servos segundo tudo o que indicares; porquanto tu sabes que não há entre nós nenhum que possa talhar a madeira com a destreza dos sidônios.
7 And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly and said, Blessed [be] the LORD this day, who has given unto David a wise son over this great people.
7 E sucedeu, quando Hirão ouviu as palavras de Salomão, que ele se regozijou grandemente, e disse: Bendito seja o SENHOR neste dia, que deu a Davi um filho sábio sobre este grande povo.
8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard that which thou didst send [to tell] me, [and] I will do all thy desire concerning the timber of cedar and concerning the timber of fir.
8 E Hirão enviou a Salomão, dizendo: Eu tenho considerado as coisas que enviaste para mim; e cumprirei todo o teu desejo acerca da madeira de cedro, e acerca da madeira de cipreste.
9 My servants shall bring [them] down from Lebanon unto the sea, and I will convey them by sea in rafts unto the place that thou shalt appoint me and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive [them]; and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
9 Os meus servos lhes farão descer do Líbano até o mar; e eu os transportarei pelo mar em jangadas até o local que tu me indicares, e farei com que elas sejam ali descarregadas, e tu as receberás; e tu atenderás o meu desejo, ao dares alimento para a minha casa.
10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees [according to] all his desire.
10 Assim, Hirão deu a Salomão árvores de cedro e de cipreste segundo todo o seu desejo.
11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat [for] food to his household and twenty [thousand] measures of pure oil; this gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
11 E Salomão deu a Hirão vinte medidas de trigo como alimento para a sua casa, e vinte medidas de azeite puro; assim dava Salomão a Hirão ano a ano.
12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom as he promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two made a covenant together.
12 E o SENHOR deu sabedoria a Salomão, como lhe prometeu; e houve paz entre Hirão e Salomão; e os dois celebraram um pacto juntos.
13 And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel, and the levy was thirty thousand men,
13 E o rei Salomão levantou uma leva de gente oriunda de todo o Israel; e a leva era de trinta mil homens.
14 whom he sent to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses; they were a month in Lebanon [and] two months at home; and Adoniram [was] over the levy.
14 E ele os enviou para o Líbano, dez mil por mês, em alternância; um mês eles estavam no Líbano, e dois meses em casa; e Adonirão estava sobre a leva.
15 And Solomon had seventy thousand that bore burdens and eighty thousand hewers in the mountains;
15 E Salomão tinha setenta mil que levavam as cargas, e oitenta mil serradores nos montes;
16 besides Solomon's chief officers who [were] over the work, there were three thousand three hundred who ruled over the people that did the work.
16 além do chefe dos oficiais de Salomão que estavam acima do trabalho, três mil e trezentos, os quais dominavam sobre o povo que trabalhava na obra.
17 And the king commanded that they bring great stones, costly stones, for the foundation of the house, [and] hewed stones.
17 E o rei ordenou, e trouxeram pedras grandes, pedras caras, e pedras talhadas, para a fundação da casa.
18 And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders hewed [them], and the stonesquarers; so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.:
18 E os construtores de Salomão e os construtores de Hirão, talhavam tanto a elas, quanto os que preparavam as pedras quadradas; assim eles prepararam a madeira e as pedras para a construção da casa.
