1 Now concerning the things of which ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.
1 Agora, a respeito das coisas que me escrevestes. Penso que seria bom ao homem não tocar mulher alguma.
2 Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every [man] have his own wife, and let every [woman] have her own husband.
2 Todavia, considerando o perigo da incontinência, cada um tenha sua mulher, e cada mulher tenha seu marido.
3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence, and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
3 O marido cumpra o seu dever para com a sua esposa e da mesma forma também a esposa o cumpra para com o marido.
4 The wife does not have authority of her own body, but the husband; and likewise also the husband does not have authority of his own body, but the wife.
4 A mulher não pode dispor de seu corpo: ele pertence ao seu marido. E da mesma forma o marido não pode dispor do seu corpo: ele pertence à sua esposa.
5 Do not defraud one another, except [it be] with [mutual] consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer and come together again, that Satan not tempt you for your incontinency.
5 Não vos recuseis um ao outro, a não ser de comum acordo, por algum tempo, para vos aplicardes à oração; e depois retornai novamente um para o outro, para que não vos tente Satanás por vossa incontinência.
6 But I speak this by permission, [and] not by commandment.
6 Isto digo como concessão, não como ordem.
7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one after this manner and another after that.
7 Pois quereria que todos fossem como eu; mas cada um tem de Deus um dom particular: uns este, outros aquele.
8 I say, therefore, to the unmarried [men] and widowers, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
8 Aos solteiros e às viúvas, digo que lhes é bom se permanecerem assim, como eu.
9 But if they do not have [the gift of] continence, let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn.
9 Mas, se não podem guardar a continência, casem-se. É melhor casar do que abrasar-se.
10 And unto the married I command, [yet] not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife separate from [her] husband;
10 Aos casados mando {não eu, mas o Senhor} que a mulher não se separe do marido.
11 and if she separates, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to [her] husband, and let not the husband put away [his] wife.
11 E, se ela estiver separada, que fique sem se casar, ou que se reconcilie com seu marido. Igualmente, o marido não repudie sua mulher.
12 But to the rest I speak, not the Lord: If any brother has a wife that does not believe, and she consents to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
12 Aos outros, digo eu, não o Senhor: se um irmão desposou uma mulher pagã {sem a fé} e esta consente em morar com ele, não a repudie.
13 And the woman who has a husband that does not believe and if he consents to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
13 Se uma mulher desposou um marido pagão e este consente em coabitar com ela, não repudie o marido.
14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
14 Porque o marido que não tem a fé é santificado por sua mulher; assim como a mulher que não tem a fé é santificada pelo marido que recebeu a fé. Do contrário, os vossos filhos seriam impuros quando, na realidade, são santos.
15 But if the unbelieving [spouse] separates, let them separate. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such [cases], but God has called us to peace.
15 Mas, se o pagão quer separar-se, que se separe; em tal caso, nem o irmão nem a irmã estão ligados. Deus vos chamou a viver em paz.
16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save [thy] husband? or what knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save [thy] wife?
16 Aliás, como sabes tu, ó mulher, se salvarás o teu marido? Ou como sabes tu, ó marido, se salvarás a tua mulher?
17 But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let them walk. And so I ordain in all the churches.
17 Quanto ao mais, que cada um viva na condição na qual o Senhor o colocou ou em que o Senhor o chamou. É o que recomendo a todas as igrejas.
18 Is anyone called being circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Is anyone called in uncircumcision? Let him not be circumcised.
18 O que era circunciso quando foi chamado {à fé}, não dissimule sua circuncisão. Quem era incircunciso, não se faça circuncidar.
19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing but the keeping of the commandments of God.
19 A circuncisão de nada vale, e a incircuncisão de nada vale, o que importa é a observância dos mandamentos de Deus.
20 Let each abide in the same calling in which he was called.
20 Cada um permaneça na profissão em que foi chamado por Deus.
21 Art thou called [being] a servant? care not for it; but if thou may be made free, use [it] rather.
21 Eras escravo, quando Deus te chamou? Não te preocupes disto. Mesmo que possas tornar-te livre, antes cuida de aproveitar melhor o teu chamamento.
22 For he that is called in the Lord, [being] a servant, is the Lord's freeman; likewise also he that is called, [being] free, is Christ's servant.
22 Pois o escravo, que foi chamado pelo Senhor, conquistou a liberdade do Senhor. Da mesma forma, quem era livre por ocasião do chamado, fez-se escravo de Cristo.
23 Ye are bought with a price; do not make yourselves the servants of men.
23 Por alto preço fostes comprados, não vos torneis escravos de homens.
24 Each one, brothers, in that [state] in which he was called, let him abide with God.
24 Irmãos, cada um permaneça diante de Deus na condição em que estava quando Deus o chamou.
25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord, yet I give my advice, as one that has obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
25 A respeito das pessoas virgens, não tenho mandamento do Senhor; porém, dou o meu conselho, como homem que recebeu da misericórdia do Senhor a graça de ser digno de confiança.
26 I hold, therefore, this to be good because of the present distress, that [it is] good for a man to be thus:
26 Julgo, pois, em razão das dificuldades presentes, ser conveniente ao homem ficar assim como é.
27 Art thou bound unto a wife? Seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? Seek not a wife.
27 Estás casado? Não procures desligar-te. Não estás casado? Não procures mulher.
28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have affliction in the flesh, but I forbear you.
28 Mas, se queres casar-te, não pecas; assim como a jovem que se casa não peca. Todavia, padecerão a tribulação da carne; e eu quisera poupar-vos.
29 But this I say, brothers, the time [is] short; for the rest, let those that have wives be as though they had none;
29 Mas eis o que vos digo, irmãos: o tempo é breve. O que importa é que os que têm mulher vivam como se a não tivessem;
30 and those that weep, as though they wept not; and those that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and those that buy, as though they possessed not;
30 os que choram, como se não chorassem; os que se alegram, como se não se alegrassem; os que compram, como se não possuíssem;
31 and those that use this world, as not using [it as their own], for the fashion of this world passes away.
31 os que usam deste mundo, como se dele não usassem. Porque a figura deste mundo passa.
32 But I would have you without worry. He that is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord;
32 Quisera ver-vos livres de toda preocupação. O solteiro cuida das coisas que são do Senhor, de como agradar ao Senhor.
33 but he that is married cares for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife.
33 O casado preocupa-se com as coisas do mundo, procurando agradar à sua esposa.
34 There is [a] difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried [woman] cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit; but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.
34 A mesma diferença existe com a mulher solteira ou a virgem. Aquela que não é casada cuida das coisas do Senhor, para ser santa no corpo e no espírito; mas a casada cuida das coisas do mundo, procurando agradar ao marido.
35 And this I speak for your own profit, not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is honourable and that ye may attend upon the Lord without impediment.
35 Digo isto para vosso proveito, não para vos estender um laço, mas para vos ensinar o que melhor convém, o que vos poderá unir ao Senhor sem partilha.
36 But if anyone thinks it uncomely regarding his daughter, if she passes the bloom of life, and need so requires, let him do what he will, he does not sin: let them marry.
36 Se alguém julga que é inconveniente para a sua filha ultrapassar a idade de casar-se e que é seu dever casá-la, faça-o como quiser: não há falta alguma em fazê-la casar-se.
37 Nevertheless, he that stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but has liberty regarding his own, and has so determined in his heart that he will keep his daughter, does well.
37 Mas aquele que, sem nenhum constrangimento e com perfeita liberdade de escolha, tiver tomado no seu coração a decisão de guardar a sua filha virgem, procede bem.
38 So then he that gives [her] in marriage does well, but he that does not give [her] in marriage does better.
38 Em suma, aquele que casa a sua filha faz bem; e aquele que não a casa, faz ainda melhor.
39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is free [and may] be married to whom she will, if it is in the Lord.
39 A mulher está ligada ao marido enquanto ele viver. Mas, se morrer o marido, ela fica livre e poderá casar-se com quem quiser, contanto que seja no Senhor.
40 But she shall be more blessed if she so abides, after my counsel, and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.:
40 Contudo, na minha opinião, ela será mais feliz se permanecer como está. E creio que também eu tenho o Espírito de Deus.
