1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and lay up my commandments with thee;
1 Meu filho, preste atenção às minhas palavras e guarde meus mandamentos como um tesouro.
2 So that thou make thine ear attend unto wisdom, and thy heart incline to discernment;
2 Dê ouvidos à sabedoria e concentre o coração no entendimento.
3 Yea, if thou call for understanding, and lift up thy voice for discernment;
3 Clame por inteligência e peça entendimento.
4 If thou seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures;
4 Busque-os como a prata, procure-os como a tesouros escondidos.
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
5 Então entenderá o que é o temor do S enhor e obterá o conhecimento de Deus.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom, out of His mouth cometh knowledge and discernment;
6 Pois o S enhor concede sabedoria; de sua boca vêm conhecimento e entendimento.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright, He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
7 Ele reserva bom senso aos honestos e é escudo para os íntegros.
8 That He may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of His godly ones.
8 Guarda os caminhos dos justos e protege seus fiéis por onde andam.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, and equity, yea, every good path.
9 Então você entenderá o que é certo, justo e imparcial e saberá o bom caminho a seguir.
10 For wisdom shall enter into thy heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;
10 Pois a sabedoria entrará em seu coração, e o conhecimento o encherá de alegria.
11 Discretion shall watch over thee, discernment shall guard thee;
11 As escolhas sábias o guardarão, e o entendimento o protegerá.
12 To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the men that speak froward things;
12 A sabedoria o livrará das ações dos maus, daqueles cujas palavras são perversas.
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
13 Eles se afastam do rumo certo e andam por caminhos sombrios.
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of evil;
14 Têm prazer em praticar o mal e aplaudem a maldade dos perversos.
15 Who are crooked in their ways, and perverse in their paths;
15 Suas ações são desonestas, e seus caminhos, tortuosos.
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the alien woman that maketh smooth her words;
16 A sabedoria o livrará da mulher imoral, das palavras sedutoras da promíscua.
17 That forsaketh the lord of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
17 Ela abandona o marido, o companheiro de sua juventude, e ignora a aliança que fez diante de Deus.
18 For her house sinketh down unto death, and her paths unto the shades;
18 Entrar na casa dela leva à morte; é a estrada para a sepultura.
19 None that go unto her return, neither do they attain unto the paths of life;
19 O homem que a visita está perdido; jamais alcançará os caminhos da vida.
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
20 Portanto, siga os passos dos bons e permaneça nos caminhos dos justos.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the whole-hearted shall remain in it.
21 Pois os retos viverão na terra, e os íntegros nela permanecerão.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and the faithless shall be plucked up out of it.
22 Os perversos, porém, serão eliminados da terra, e os desleais, arrancados dela.
