1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he became guilty through Baal, he died.
1 Quando Efraim falou tremendo, ele se exaltou em Israel; mas quando pecou em Baal, ele morreu.
2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, according to their own understanding, even idols, all of them the work of the craftsmen; of them they say: 'They that sacrifice men kiss calves.'
2 E agora eles pecam cada vez mais, e da sua prata fizeram uma imagem de fundição e ídolos segundo o seu entendimento, todos obra de artífices, dos quais dizem: Os homens que sacrificam beijem os bezerros.
3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the dew that early passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the wind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smoke out of the window.
3 Por isso, serão como a nuvem da manhã, e como o orvalho da madrugada, que logo passa; como a palha que o redemoinho lança do chão, e como a fumaça da chaminé.
4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt; and thou knowest no God but Me, and beside Me there is no saviour.
4 Todavia, eu sou o SENHOR teu Deus desde a terra do Egito; portanto, não reconhecerás outro deus além de mim, porque não há Salvador além de mim.
5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
5 Eu te conheci no deserto, na terra de grande seca.
6 When they were fed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten Me.
6 Em proporção do seu pasto eles se fartaram; estando fartos, o seu coração se exaltou, por isso se esqueceram de mim.
7 Therefore am I become unto them as a lion; as a leopard will I watch by the way;
7 Portanto, serei para eles como leão; como leopardo, no caminho, os espiarei.
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the enclosure of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.
8 Eu os encontrarei como uma ursa que é despojada de seus ursinhos, e lhes romperei as teias do seu coração, e ali os devorarei como um leão; as feras do campo os despedaçarão.
9 It is thy destruction, O Israel, that thou art against Me, against thy help.
9 Ó Israel, tu destruíste a ti mesmo, mas em mim está a tua ajuda.
10 Ho, now, thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities! and thy judges, of whom thou saidst: 'Give me a king and princes!'
10 Eu serei o teu rei; onde está o outro que te salvará em todas as tuas cidades? E os teus juízes, dos quais disseste: Dá-me rei e príncipes?
11 I give thee a king in Mine anger, and take him away in My wrath.
11 Dei-te um rei na minha ira, e tirei-o no meu furor.
12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is laid up in store.
12 A iniquidade de Efraim está atada, o seu pecado está escondido.
13 The throes of a travailing woman shall come upon him; he is an unwise son; for it is time he should not tarry in the place of the breaking forth of children.
13 Dores de mulher de parto lhe sobrevirão; ele é um filho insensato; porque é tempo e não está no lugar em que deve vir à luz.
14 Shall I ransom them from the power of the nether-world? Shall I redeem them from death? Ho, thy plagues, O death! Ho, thy destruction, O nether-world! Repentance be hid from Mine eyes!
14 Eu os redimirei do poder da sepultura, e os resgatarei da morte. Ó morte, eu serei as tuas pragas; ó sepultura, eu serei a tua destruição; o arrependimento está escondido dos meus olhos.
15 For though he be fruitful among the reed-plants, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD coming up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up; he shall spoil the treasure of all precious vessels.
15 Ainda que ele dê fruto entre seus irmãos, um vento leste virá, o vento do SENHOR subirá do deserto, e a sua nascente se tornará seca, e a sua fonte se esgotará; ele destruirá o tesouro de todos os vasos desejáveis.
16 Samaria shall bear her guilt, for she hath rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
16 Samaria se tornará desolada, porque se rebelou contra o seu Deus; eles cairão à espada, seus filhos serão despedaçados, e as suas grávidas serão cortadas ao meio.
