1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he became guilty through Baal, he died.
1 Quando falava Efraim, havia tremor; foi exaltado em Israel, mas ele se fez culpado no tocante a Baal e morreu.
2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, according to their own understanding, even idols, all of them the work of the craftsmen; of them they say: 'They that sacrifice men kiss calves.'
2 Agora, pecam mais e mais, e da sua prata fazem imagens de fundição, ídolos segundo o seu conceito, todos obra de artífices, e dizem: Sacrificai a eles. Homens até beijam bezerros!
3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the dew that early passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the wind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smoke out of the window.
3 Por isso, serão como nuvem de manhã, como orvalho que cedo passa, como palha que se lança da eira e como fumaça que sai por uma janela.
4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt; and thou knowest no God but Me, and beside Me there is no saviour.
4 Todavia, eu sou o Senhor , teu Deus, desde a terra do Egito; portanto, não conhecerás outro deus além de mim, porque não há salvador, senão eu.
5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
5 Eu te conheci no deserto, em terra muito seca.
6 When they were fed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten Me.
6 Quando tinham pasto, eles se fartaram, e, uma vez fartos, ensoberbeceu-se-lhes o coração; por isso, se esqueceram de mim.
7 Therefore am I become unto them as a lion; as a leopard will I watch by the way;
7 Sou, pois, para eles como leão; como leopardo, espreito no caminho.
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the enclosure of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.
8 Como ursa, roubada de seus filhos, eu os atacarei e lhes romperei a envoltura do coração; e, como leão, ali os devorarei, as feras do campo os despedaçarão.
9 It is thy destruction, O Israel, that thou art against Me, against thy help.
9 A tua ruína, ó Israel, vem de ti, e só de mim, o teu socorro.
10 Ho, now, thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities! and thy judges, of whom thou saidst: 'Give me a king and princes!'
10 Onde está, agora, o teu rei, para que te salve em todas as tuas cidades? E os teus juízes, dos quais disseste: Dá-me rei e príncipes?
11 I give thee a king in Mine anger, and take him away in My wrath.
11 Dei-te um rei na minha ira e to tirei no meu furor.
12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is laid up in store.
12 As iniquidades de Efraim estão atadas juntas, o seu pecado está armazenado.
13 The throes of a travailing woman shall come upon him; he is an unwise son; for it is time he should not tarry in the place of the breaking forth of children.
13 Dores de parturiente lhe virão; ele é filho insensato, porque é tempo, e não sai à luz, ao abrir-se da madre.
14 Shall I ransom them from the power of the nether-world? Shall I redeem them from death? Ho, thy plagues, O death! Ho, thy destruction, O nether-world! Repentance be hid from Mine eyes!
14 Eu os remirei do poder do inferno e os resgatarei da morte; onde estão, ó morte, as tuas pragas? Onde está, ó inferno, a tua destruição? Meus olhos não veem em mim arrependimento algum.
15 For though he be fruitful among the reed-plants, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD coming up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up; he shall spoil the treasure of all precious vessels.
15 Ainda que ele viceja entre os irmãos, virá o vento leste, vento do Senhor , subindo do deserto, e secará a sua nascente, e estancará a sua fonte; ele saqueará o tesouro de todas as coisas preciosas.
16 Samaria shall bear her guilt, for she hath rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
16 Samaria levará sobre si a sua culpa, porque se rebelou contra o seu Deus; cairá à espada, seus filhos serão despedaçados, e as suas mulheres grávidas serão abertas pelo meio.
