1 So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen.
1 O rei foi com Hamã ao banquete da rainha Ester.
2 And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine: 'Whatever thy petition, queen Esther, it shall be granted thee; and whatever thy request, even to the half of the kingdom, it shall be performed.'
2 No segundo dia, durante o banquete do vinho, o rei perguntou a Ester: — Qual é o seu pedido, rainha Ester? Você será atendida. O que você quer? Até a metade do reino lhe será dado.
3 Then Esther the queen answered and said: 'If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request;
3 Então a rainha Ester disse: — Se eu tiver obtido o seu favor, ó rei, e se for do agrado do rei, que a minha vida seja a resposta ao meu pedido e que, como desejo, eu possa ter o meu povo.
4 for we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my peace, for the adversary is not worthy that the king be endamaged.'
4 Porque fomos vendidos, eu e o meu povo, para sermos destruídos, mortos e aniquilados de vez. Se ainda nos tivessem vendido como escravos e escravas, eu me calaria, pois não valeria a pena incomodar o rei por uma coisa dessas.
5 Then spoke the king Ahasuerus and said unto Esther the queen: 'Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so?'
5 Então o rei Assuero perguntou à rainha Ester: — Quem é esse cujo coração o instigou a fazer uma coisa dessas? Onde está esse homem?
6 And Esther said: 'An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman.' Then Haman was terrified before the king and the queen.
6 Ester respondeu: — O adversário e inimigo é este malvado Hamã. Então Hamã ficou apavorado diante do rei e da rainha.
7 And the king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden; but Haman remained to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
7 O rei, no seu furor, se levantou do banquete do vinho e passou para o jardim do palácio. Hamã, porém, ficou para rogar por sua vida à rainha Ester, pois viu que o mal contra ele já estava determinado pelo rei.
8 Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the couch whereon Esther was. Then said the king: 'Will he even force the queen before me in the house?' As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.
8 Quando o rei voltou do jardim do palácio para a casa do banquete do vinho, Hamã tinha caído sobre o divã em que se achava Ester. Então o rei disse: — Será que ele queria desonrar a rainha diante de mim, aqui no meu palácio? Quando o rei acabou de dizer estas palavras, cobriram o rosto de Hamã.
9 Then said Harbonah, one of the chamberlains that were before the king: 'Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman hath made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman.' And the king said: 'Hang him thereon.'
9 Então Harbona, um dos eunucos que serviam o rei, disse: — Eis que existe junto à casa de Hamã a forca de vinte e dois metros de altura que ele preparou para Mordecai, aquele que havia falado em defesa do rei. Então o rei disse: — Que ele seja enforcado nela!
10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath assuaged.
10 E assim enforcaram Hamã na forca que ele tinha preparado para Mordecai. Então o furor do rei se aplacou.
