1 To him that excelleth. Destroy not. A Psalme or song committed toAsaph. We will prayse thee, O God, we will prayse thee, for thy Name is neere: therefore they will declare thy wonderous workes.
1 Graças te damos, ó Deus! Graças te damos porque estás próximo; em toda parte se fala de tuas maravilhas.
2 When I shall take a conuenient time, I will iudge righteously.
2 Tu disseste: “No tempo que determinei, julgarei com justiça.
3 The earth and all the inhabitantes thereof are dissolued: but I will establish the pillars of it. Selah.
3 Quando a terra e seus moradores estremecem, sou eu que mantenho firmes seus alicerces. Interlúdio
4 I saide vnto the foolish, Be not so foolish, and to the wicked, Lift not vp the horne.
4 “Adverti aos orgulhosos: ‘Parem de contar vantagem!’. Disse aos perversos: ‘Não levantem os punhos!
5 Lift not vp your horne on high, neither speake with a stiffe necke.
5 Não levantem os punhos aos céus em rebeldia, nem falem com tamanha arrogância’”.
6 For to come to preferment is neither from the East, nor from the West, nor from the South,
6 Pois ninguém na terra, de leste a oeste, nem mesmo no deserto, deve exaltar a si mesmo.
7 But God is the iudge: he maketh lowe and he maketh hie.
7 Somente Deus é quem julga; ele decide quem se levantará e quem cairá.
8 For in the hand of the Lord is a cup, and the wine is red: it is full mixt, and he powreth out of the same: surely all the wicked of the earth shall wring out and drinke the dregges thereof.
8 Pois o S enhor tem na mão um cálice cujo vinho espuma misturado com especiarias. Ele derrama o vinho, e todos os perversos o bebem até a última gota.
9 But I will declare for euer, and sing prayses vnto the God of Iaakob.
9 Quanto a mim, sempre anunciarei o que Deus tem feito; cantarei louvores ao Deus de Jacó.
10 All the hornes of the wicked also will I breake: but the hornes of the righteous shalbe exalted.
10 Pois Deus disse: “Acabarei com a força dos perversos, mas farei crescer o poder dos justos”.
