¹ By the riuers of Babel we sate, and there wee wept, when we remembred Zion.

¹ Junto aos rios da Babilônia, sentamos e choramos, ao nos lembrarmos de Sião.

² Wee hanged our harpes vpon the willowes in the middes thereof.

² Pusemos de lado nossas harpas e as penduramos nos galhos dos salgueiros.

³ Then they that ledde vs captiues, required of vs songs and mirth, when wee had hanged vp our harpes, saying, Sing vs one of the songs of Zion.

³ Os que nos levaram cativos queriam que cantássemos; nossos opressores exigiam uma canção alegre: “Cantem para nós uma das canções de Sião!”.

⁴ Howe shall we sing, said we, a song of the Lord in a strange land?

⁴ Mas como poderíamos cantar as canções do S enhor estando em terra estrangeira?

⁵ If I forget thee, O Ierusalem, let my right hand forget to play.

⁵ Se eu me esquecer de ti, ó Jerusalém, que minha mão direita perca sua habilidade.

⁶ If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleaue to the roofe of my mouth: yea, if I preferre not Ierusalem to my chiefe ioy.

⁶ Que minha língua se prenda ao céu da boca se eu não me lembrar de ti, se não fizer de Jerusalém minha maior alegria.

⁷ Remember the children of Edom, O Lord, in the day of Ierusalem, which saide, Rase it, rase it to the foundation thereof.

⁷ Ó S enhor , lembra-te do que os edomitas fizeram no dia em que Jerusalém foi conquistada. Disseram: “Destruam-na! Arrasem-na até o chão!”.

⁸ O daughter of Babel, worthy to be destroyed, blessed shall he be that rewardeth thee, as thou hast serued vs.

⁸ Ó Babilônia, você será destruída; feliz é aquele que lhe retribuir por tudo que fez contra nós.

⁹ Blessed shall he be that taketh and dasheth thy children against the stones.

⁹ Feliz aquele que pegar suas crianças e as esmagar contra a rocha.
