1 To him that excelleth upon the eight tune. A Psalme of Dauid. Helpe Lord, for there is not a godly man left: for the faithfull are fayled from among the children of men.
1 Ao mestre de canto. Uma oitava abaixo. Salmo de Davi. Salvai-nos, Senhor, pois desaparecem os homens piedosos, e a lealdade se extingue entre os homens.
2 They speake deceitfully euery one with his neighbour, flattering with their lips, and speake with a double heart.
2 Uns não têm para com os outros senão palavras mentirosas; adulação na boca, duplicidade no coração.
3 The Lord cut off all flattering lippes, and the tongue that speaketh proude things:
3 Que o Senhor extirpe os lábios hipócritas e a língua insolente.
4 Which haue saide, With our tongue will we preuaile: our lippes are our owne: who is Lord ouer vs?
4 Aqueles que dizem: Dominaremos pela nossa língua, nossos lábios trabalham para nós, quem nos será senhor?
5 Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighes of the poore, I will vp, sayeth the Lord, and will set at libertie him, whom the wicked hath snared.
5 Responde, porém, o Senhor: Por causa da aflição dos humildes e dos gemidos dos pobres, levantar-me-ei para lhes dar a salvação que desejam.
6 The wordes of the Lord are pure wordes, as the siluer, tried in a fornace of earth, fined seuen folde.
6 As palavras do Senhor são palavras sinceras, puras como a prata acrisolada, isenta de ganga, sete vezes depurada.
7 Thou wilt keepe them, O Lord: thou wilt preserue him from this generation for euer.
7 Vós, Senhor, haveis de nos guardar, defender-nos-eis sempre dessa raça maléfica,
8 The wicked walke on euery side: when they are exalted, it is a shame for the sonnes of men.
8 porque os ímpios andam de todos os lados, enquanto a vileza se ergue entre os homens.
