1 To him that excelleth upon the eight tune. A Psalme of Dauid. Helpe Lord, for there is not a godly man left: for the faithfull are fayled from among the children of men.
1 Socorro, S enhor , pois os fiéis estão desaparecendo depressa! Os que te temem sumiram da terra!
2 They speake deceitfully euery one with his neighbour, flattering with their lips, and speake with a double heart.
2 Todos mentem uns aos outros; falam com lábios bajuladores e coração fingido.
3 The Lord cut off all flattering lippes, and the tongue that speaketh proude things:
3 Que o S enhor corte os lábios bajuladores e cale a língua arrogante.
4 Which haue saide, With our tongue will we preuaile: our lippes are our owne: who is Lord ouer vs?
4 Eles dizem: “Mentiremos quanto quisermos. Os lábios são nossos; quem nos impedirá?”.
5 Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighes of the poore, I will vp, sayeth the Lord, and will set at libertie him, whom the wicked hath snared.
5 O S enhor responde: “Vi a violência cometida contra os indefesos e ouvi o gemido dos pobres. Agora me levantarei para salvá-los, como eles tanto desejam”.
6 The wordes of the Lord are pure wordes, as the siluer, tried in a fornace of earth, fined seuen folde.
6 As promessas do S enhor são puras como prata refinada no forno, purificada sete vezes.
7 Thou wilt keepe them, O Lord: thou wilt preserue him from this generation for euer.
7 Portanto, S enhor , sabemos que protegerás os oprimidos e para sempre os guardarás desta geração mentirosa,
8 The wicked walke on euery side: when they are exalted, it is a shame for the sonnes of men.
8 ainda que os perversos andem confiantes, e a maldade seja elogiada em toda a terra.
