1 Come, and let vs returne to the Lord: for he hath spoyled, and he will heale vs: he hath wounded vs, and he will binde vs vp.
1 O povo de Israel diz: — Venham, voltemos todos para Deus, o
2 After two dayes will he reuiue vs, and in the third day he will raise vs vp, and we shall liue in his sight.
2 Daqui a uns dois ou três dias, no máximo, ele nos dará novas forças e nos porá de pé, e nós sempre faremos a sua vontade.
3 Then shall we haue knowledge, and indeuour our selues to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning, and he shall come vnto vs as the raine, and as the latter raine vnto the earth.
3 Vamos nos dedicar mais e mais ao Senhor ! Tão certo como nasce o sol, ele virá nos ajudar; virá tão certamente como vêm as chuvas da primavera, que regam a terra.
4 O Ephraim, what shall I doe vnto thee? O Iudah, how shall I intreate thee? for your goodnesse is as a morning cloude, and as the morning dewe it goeth away.
4 Mas o Senhor Deus responde: — O que é que vou fazer com você, Israel? E com você, Judá, o que é que eu faço? Pois o amor de vocês é tão passageiro como a cerração ao nascer do sol; é como o orvalho, que seca logo de manhã.
5 Therefore haue I cut downe by the Prophets: I haue slaine them by the wordes of my mouth, and thy iudgements were as the light that goeth forth.
5 Foi por isso que mandei os meus profetas anunciar que eu vou castigar e matar vocês. E o que exijo de vocês é claro como a luz do sol.
6 For I desired mercie, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more then burnt offrings.
6 Eu quero que vocês me amem e não que me ofereçam sacrifícios ; em vez de me trazer ofertas queimadas, eu prefiro que o meu povo me obedeça.
7 But they like men haue transgressed the couenant: there haue they trespassed against me.
7 — Mas na cidade de Adã o meu povo quebrou a aliança que fiz com ele e ali foi infiel a mim.
8 Gilead is a citie of them that worke iniquitie, and is polluted with blood.
8 Gileade é uma cidade cheia de malfeitores e assassinos.
9 And as the eues waite for a man, so the companie of Priestes murder in the way by consent: for they worke mischiefe.
9 Os sacerdotes são como assaltantes que esperam escondidos para roubar os outros. Na estrada que vai para Siquém eles matam e cometem crimes horrorosos.
10 I haue seene vileny in the house of Israel: there is ye whoredome of Ephraim: Israel is defiled.
10 Tenho visto uma coisa horrível na terra de Israel: o meu povo adora ídolos e por isso está impuro .
11 Yea, Iudah hath set a plant for thee, whiles I woulde returne ye captiuitie of my people.
11 — E já marquei o dia em que vou castigar também o povo de Judá.
