1 And Balaam sayd vnto Balak, Builde me here seuen altars, and prepare me here seuen bullockes, and seuen rammes.
1 Balaão disse ao rei: "Levanta-me aqui sete altares, e prepara-me sete touros e sete carneiros."
2 And Balak did as Balaam sayd, and Balak and Balaam offred on euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
2 Balac fez o que o adivinho pedira, e ofereceram juntos um touro e um carneiro em cada altar.
3 Then Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Stande by the burnt offring, and I will goe, if so be that the Lord will come and meete me: and whatsoeuer he sheweth me, I will tell thee: so he went forth alone.
3 "Fica, disse Balaão a Balac, junto de teu holocausto, enquanto eu me afasto. Talvez o Senhor venha ao meu encontro, e te direi tudo o que ele me mandar." Afastou-se Balaão e foi para um monte escalvado,
4 And God met Balaam, and Balaam sayd vnto him, I haue prepared seuen altars, and haue offred vpon euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
4 onde Deus se lhe apresentou; e Balaão disse a Deus: "Levantei sete altares, e sobre cada altar ofereci um touro e um carneiro."
5 And the Lord put an answere in Balaams mouth, and sayde, Go againe to Balak, and say on this wise.
5 O Senhor pôs então uma palavra na boca de Balaão e disse: "Volta para junto de Balac e dize-lhe isto e isto."
6 So when he returned vnto him, loe, hee stoode by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.
6 Voltando para perto do rei, encontrou-o de pé junto do seu holocausto, com todos os chefes de Moab.
7 Then he vttered his parable, and sayde, Balak the king of Moab hath brought mee from Aram out of the mountaines of the East, saying, Come, curse Iaakob for my sake: come, and detest Israel.
7 Balaão pronunciou o seguinte oráculo: "De Arão mandou-me vir Balac, das montanhas do Oriente, o rei de Moab: Vem! Por mim amaldiçoa Jacó! Vem votar Israel à perdição!
8 How shall I curse, where God hath not cursed? or howe shall I detest, where the Lord hath not detested?
8 Como poderei amaldiçoar a quem Deus não amaldiçoa? Como encolerizar-me, se o Senhor não se encolerizou?
9 For from the top of the rocks I did see him, and from the hils I did beholde him: lo, the people shall dwell by themselues, and shall not be reckened among the nations.
9 Do alto dos rochedos eu contemplo, estou vendo do cimo das colinas: um povo isolado, não contado entre as nações.
10 Who can tell the dust of Iaakob, and the nomber of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last ende be like his.
10 Quem poderia calcular o pó de Jacó? Quem poderia medir as nuvens de Israel? Que eu morra da morte dos justos, que o meu fim se assemelhe ao fim deles!"
11 Then Balak saide vnto Balaam, What hast thou done vnto mee? I tooke thee to curse mine enemies, and beholde, thou hast blessed them altogether.
11 Balac disse a Balaão: "Que me fizeste? Mandei-te chamar para amaldiçoares os meus inimigos; e eis que os abençoas!"
12 And he answered, and said, Must I not take heede to speake that, which the Lord hath put in my mouth?
12 "Porventura, respondeu o adivinho, não devo eu cuidar de só dizer o que o Senhor põe na minha boca?"
13 And Balak sayde vnto him, Come, I pray thee, with mee vnto another place, whence thou mayest see them, and thou shalt see but the vtmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: therefore curse them out of that place for my sake.
13 Balac disse-lhe então: "Vem comigo a outro lugar de onde poderás vê-los. Não verás somente a sua extremidade, mas todo o seu acampamento, e dali os amaldiçoarás."
14 And he brought him into Sede-sophim to the top of Pisgah, and built seuen altars, and offred a bullocke, and a ramme on euery altar.
14 Conduziu-o ao campo de Sofim, no cimo do Fasga, onde levantou sete altares para serem oferecidos sobre cada qual um touro e um carneiro.
15 After, he sayde vnto Balak, Stande here by thy burnt offring, and I wil meete the Lord yonder.
15 Balaão disse-lhe: "Fica aqui junto de teu holocausto, enquanto vou ao encontro do Senhor."
16 And the Lord mette Balaam, and put an answere in his mouth, and sayd, Goe againe vnto Balak, and say thus.
16 O Senhor apresentou-se a Balaão, pôs-lhe na boca uma palavra e disse: "Volta a Balac e dize-lhe isto e isto."
17 And when he came to him, beholde, hee stoode by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him: so Balak sayde vnto him, What hath the Lord sayd?
17 Voltou o adivinho para junto do rei, o qual estava de pé ao lado do seu holocausto com os chefes de Moab. "Que disse o Senhor?" perguntou-lhe Balac.
18 And he vttered his parable, and sayde, Rise vp, Balak, and heare: hearken vnto me, thou sonne of Zippor.
18 E Balaão pronunciou o seguinte oráculo: "Levanta-te, Balac, e escuta; presta-me atenção, filho de Sefor:
19 God is not as man, that he should lie, neither as the sonne of man that he shoulde repent: hath he sayde and shall he not do it? and hath he spoken, and shall he not accomplish it?
19 Deus não é homem para mentir, nem alguém para se arrepender. Alguma vez prometeu sem cumprir? Por acaso falou e não executou?
20 Behold, I haue receiued commandement to blesse: for he hath blessed, and I cannot alter it.
20 Recebi ordem de abençoar; ele abençoou: nada posso mudar.
21 Hee seeth none iniquitie in Iaakob, nor seeth no transgression in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the ioyfull shoute of a king is among them.
21 Não achou iniqüidade em Jacó, nem perversidade em Israel. O Senhor, seu Deus, está com ele, nele é proclamado rei.
22 God brought them out of Egypt: their strength is as an vnicorne.
22 Deus os retirou do Egito e lhes deu o vigor do búfalo.
23 For there is no sorcerie in Iaakob, nor soothsaying in Israel: according to this time it shalbe sayde of Iaakob and of Israel, What hath God wrought?
23 Não é preciso magia em Jacó, nem adivinhação em Israel: a seu tempo, se dirá a Jacó e a Israel o que Deus quer fazer.
24 Behold, the people shall rise vp as a lyon, and lift vp himselfe as a yong lyon: hee shall not lye downe, till he eate of the pray, and till he drinke the blood of the slayne.
24 Este povo levanta-se como leoa, firma-se como leão; não se deita sem ter devorado a presa e bebido o sangue de suas vítimas."
25 Then Balak sayde vnto Balaam, Neither curse, nor blesse them at all.
25 Balac disse a Balaão: "Se não os amaldiçoas, ao menos não os abençoes."
26 But Balaam answered, and saide vnto Balak, Tolde not I thee, saying, All that the Lord speaketh, that must I do?
26 "Não te disse eu, respondeu Balaão, que faria tudo o que o Senhor me dissesse?"
27 Againe Balak sayd vnto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I wil bring thee vnto another place, if so be it wil please God, that thou mayest thence curse them for my sake.
27 Balac replicou: "Vem: conduzir-te-ei a outro lugar; talvez Deus se agrade que tu os amaldiçoes de lá."
28 So Balak brought Balaam vnto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Ieshmon.
28 Balac levou o adivinho ao cimo do monte Fogor, que domina o deserto.
29 Then Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Make me here seuen altars, and prepare me here seuen bullocks, and seuen rammes.
29 Balaão disse-lhe: "Constrói-me sete altares, e prepara-me sete touros e sete carneiros."
30 And Balak did as Balaam had sayd, and offred a bullocke and a ram on euery altar.
30 Balac fez como ordenara Balaão, e ofereceu sobre cada altar um touro e um carneiro.
