1 The burden of Nineueh. The booke of the vision of Nahum the Elkeshite.
1 Esta é a mensagem a respeito de Nínive, que Deus, por meio de uma visão, deu a Naum, que era da cidade de Elcos.
2 God is ielous, and the Lord reuengeth: the Lord reuengeth: euen the Lord of anger, the Lord will take vengeance on his aduersaries, and he reserueth wrath for his enemies.
2 O Senhor é um Deus que não tolera outros deuses, um Deus O e na sua ira os castiga.
3 The Lord is slow to anger, but he is great in power, and will not surely cleare the wicked: the Lord hath his way in ye whirlewind, and in the storme, and the cloudes are the dust of his feete.
3 O Senhor é paciente mas poderoso e não deixa os culpados sem castigo. Ele anda pelo meio de tempestades e de ventos violentos; as nuvens são o pó que os seus pés levantam.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted.
4 Deus repreende o mar, e ele seca; Deus faz os rios ficarem secos. Os pastos de Basã e do monte Carmelo secam, as flores dos montes Líbanos ficam murchas.
5 The mountaines tremble for him, and the hilles melt, and the earth is burnt at his sight, yea, the worlde, and all that dwell therein.
5 Na sua presença, as montanhas tremem, e os morros se desfazem. Quando ele aparece, a terra e todos os seus moradores ficam arrasados.
6 Who can stande before his wrath? or who can abide in the fiercenesse of his wrath? his wrath is powred out like fire, and the rockes are broken by him.
6 Quando o Senhor está irado, quem pode ficar de pé? Quem pode resistir à sua ira? A sua fúria se derrama como um rio de fogo; diante dele, as pedras se arrebentam.
7 The Lord is good and as a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.
7 O Senhor Deus é bom. Em tempos difíceis, ele salva o seu povo e cuida dos que procuram a sua proteção.
8 But passing ouer as with a flood, he will vtterly destroy the place thereof, and darknesse shall pursue his enemies.
8 Como uma enchente, ele acaba com os seus inimigos; ele manda os seus adversários para o
9 What doe ye imagine against the Lord? he wil make an vtter destruction: affliction shall not rise vp the seconde time.
9 O que é que vocês estão planejando contra o Senhor ? Ele os destruirá completamente. Contra Deus ninguém se levanta duas vezes!
10 For he shall come as vnto thornes folden one in another, and as vnto drunkards in their drunkennesse: they shall be deuoured as stubble fully dryed.
10 Como uma moita de espinheiros, como a palha seca, vocês serão completamente destruídos!
11 There commeth one out of thee that imagineth euill against the Lord, euen a wicked counsellour.
11 Da cidade de Nínive, veio o homem de más intenções, que planeja o mal contra Deus, o Senhor .
12 Thus saith the Lord, Though they be quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall passe by: though I haue afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
12 Portanto, o Senhor diz ao povo de Israel: “Os assírios serão destruídos e desaparecerão, embora sejam fortes e numerosos. Eu deixei que vocês sofressem, mas não farei isso de novo.
13 For nowe I will breake his yoke from thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
13 Eu os salvarei do poder dos assírios; eu os livrarei da escravidão.”
14 And the Lord hath giuen a commandement concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sowen: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the grauen, and the molten image: I will make it thy graue for thee, for thou art vile.
14 A respeito do rei da Assíria o Senhor Deus diz o seguinte: “Ele não terá filhos, e assim o seu nome desaparecerá. Eu destruirei os ídolos e as imagens do templo do seu deus. Vou sepultá-lo, pois ele não vale nada.”
15 Beholde vpon the mountaines the feete of him that declareth, and publisheth peace: O Iudah, keepe thy solemne feastes, perfourme thy vowes: for the wicked shall no more passe thorowe thee: he is vtterly cut off.
15 Vejam! Pelas montanhas vem um mensageiro que traz boas notícias, notícias de paz. Povo de Judá, faça as suas festas e ofereça a Deus aquilo que você prometeu. O país de vocês nunca mais será invadido por gente má; eles foram completamente destruídos.
