1 The burden of Nineueh. The booke of the vision of Nahum the Elkeshite.
1 Peso de Nínive. Livro da visão de Naum, o elcosita.
2 God is ielous, and the Lord reuengeth: the Lord reuengeth: euen the Lord of anger, the Lord will take vengeance on his aduersaries, and he reserueth wrath for his enemies.
2 O Senhor é Deus zeloso e vingador; o Senhor é vingador e cheio de furor; o Senhor toma vingança contra os seus adversários, e guarda a ira contra os seus inimigos.
3 The Lord is slow to anger, but he is great in power, and will not surely cleare the wicked: the Lord hath his way in ye whirlewind, and in the storme, and the cloudes are the dust of his feete.
3 O Senhor é tardio em irar-se, mas grande em poder, e ao culpado não tem por inocente; o Senhor tem o seu caminho na tormenta e na tempestade, e as nuvens são o pó dos seus pés.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted.
4 Ele repreende ao mar, e o faz secar, e esgota todos os rios; desfalecem Basã e o Carmelo, e a flor do Líbano murcha.
5 The mountaines tremble for him, and the hilles melt, and the earth is burnt at his sight, yea, the worlde, and all that dwell therein.
5 Os montes tremem perante ele, e os outeiros se derretem; e a terra se levanta na sua presença; e o mundo, e todos os que nele habitam.
6 Who can stande before his wrath? or who can abide in the fiercenesse of his wrath? his wrath is powred out like fire, and the rockes are broken by him.
6 Quem parará diante do seu furor, e quem persistirá diante do ardor da sua ira? A sua cólera se derramou como um fogo, e as rochas foram por ele derrubadas.
7 The Lord is good and as a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.
7 O Senhor é bom, ele serve de fortaleza no dia da angústia, e conhece os que confiam nele.
8 But passing ouer as with a flood, he will vtterly destroy the place thereof, and darknesse shall pursue his enemies.
8 E com uma inundação trasbordante acabará de uma vez com o seu lugar; e as trevas perseguirão os seus inimigos.
9 What doe ye imagine against the Lord? he wil make an vtter destruction: affliction shall not rise vp the seconde time.
9 Que pensais vós contra o Senhor? Ele mesmo vos consumirá de todo; não se levantará por duas vezes a angústia.
10 For he shall come as vnto thornes folden one in another, and as vnto drunkards in their drunkennesse: they shall be deuoured as stubble fully dryed.
10 Porque ainda que eles se entrelacem como os espinhos, e se saturem de vinho como bêbados, serão inteiramente consumidos como palha seca.
11 There commeth one out of thee that imagineth euill against the Lord, euen a wicked counsellour.
11 De ti saiu um que maquinou o mal contra o Senhor, um conselheiro vil.
12 Thus saith the Lord, Though they be quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall passe by: though I haue afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
12 Assim diz o Senhor: Por mais seguros que estejam, e por mais numerosos que sejam, ainda assim serão exterminados, e ele passará; eu te afligi, mas não te afligirei mais.
13 For nowe I will breake his yoke from thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
13 Mas agora quebrarei o seu jugo de sobre ti, e romperei os teus laços.
14 And the Lord hath giuen a commandement concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sowen: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the grauen, and the molten image: I will make it thy graue for thee, for thou art vile.
14 Contra ti, porém, o Senhor deu ordem que não haja mais linhagem do teu nome; da casa dos teus deuses exterminarei as imagens de escultura e de fundição; ali farei o teu sepulcro, porque és vil.
15 Beholde vpon the mountaines the feete of him that declareth, and publisheth peace: O Iudah, keepe thy solemne feastes, perfourme thy vowes: for the wicked shall no more passe thorowe thee: he is vtterly cut off.
15 Eis sobre os montes os pés do que traz as boas novas, do que anuncia a paz! Celebra as tuas festas, ó Judá, cumpre os teus votos, porque o ímpio não tornará mais a passar por ti; ele é inteiramente exterminado.
