1 Then spake Iesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
1 Então, Jesus disse à multidão e aos seus discípulos:
2 Saying, The Scribes and the Pharises sit in Moses seate.
2 "Os mestres da lei e os fariseus se assentam na cadeira de Moisés.
3 All therefore whatsoeuer they bid you obserue, that obserue and doe: but after their workes doe not: for they say, and doe not.
3 Obedeçam-lhes e façam tudo o que eles lhes dizem. Mas não façam o que eles fazem, pois não praticam o que pregam.
4 For they binde heauie burdens, and grieuous to be borne, and lay them on mens shoulders, but they themselues will not moue them with one of their fingers.
4 Eles atam fardos pesados e os colocam sobre os ombros dos homens, mas eles mesmos não estão dispostos a levantar um só dedo para movê-los.
5 All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments,
5 "Tudo o que fazem é para serem vistos pelos homens. Eles fazem seus filactérios bem largos e as franjas de suas vestes bem longas;
6 And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies,
6 gostam do lugar de honra nos banquetes e dos assentos mais importantes nas sinagogas,
7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
7 de serem saudados nas praças e de serem chamados ‘rabis’.
8 But be not ye called, Rabbi: for one is your doctour, to wit, Christ, and all ye are brethren.
8 "Mas vocês não devem ser chamados ‘rabis’; um só é o mestre de vocês, e todos vocês são irmãos.
9 And call no man your father vpon the earth: for there is but one, your father which is in heauen.
9 A ninguém na terra chamem ‘pai’, porque vocês só têm um Pai, aquele que está nos céus.
10 Be not called doctours: for one is your doctour, euen Christ.
10 Tampouco vocês devem ser chamados ‘chefes’, porquanto vocês têm um só Chefe, o Cristo.
11 But he that is greatest among you, let him be your seruant.
11 O maior entre vocês deverá ser servo.
12 For whosoeuer will exalt himselfe, shall be brought lowe: and whosoeuer will humble himselfe, shalbe exalted.
12 Pois todo aquele que a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado, e todo aquele que a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado.
13 Wo therefore be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites, because ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: for ye your selues go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in.
13 "Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas! Vocês fecham o Reino dos céus diante dos homens! Vocês mesmos não entram, nem deixam entrar aqueles que gostariam de fazê-lo.
14 Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers: wherefore ye shall receiue the greater damnation.
14 "Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas! Vocês devoram as casas das viúvas e, para disfarçar, fazem longas orações. Por isso serão castigados mais severamente.
15 Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye compasse sea and land to make one of your profession: and when he is made, ye make him two folde more the childe of hell, then you your selues.
15 "Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas, porque percorrem terra e mar para fazer um convertido e, quando conseguem, vocês o tornam duas vezes mais filho do inferno do que vocês.
16 Wo be vnto you blinde guides, which say, Whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the golde of the Temple, he offendeth.
16 "Ai de vocês, guias cegos!, pois dizem: ‘Se alguém jurar pelo santuário, isto nada significa; mas se alguém jurar pelo ouro do santuário, está obrigado por seu juramento’.
17 Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the golde, or the Temple that sanctifieth the golde?
17 Cegos insensatos! Que é mais importante: o ouro ou o santuário que santifica o ouro?
18 And whosoeuer sweareth by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the offering that is vpon it, offendeth.
18 Vocês também dizem: ‘Se alguém jurar pelo altar, isto nada significa; mas se alguém jurar pela oferta que está sobre ele, está obrigado por seu juramento’.
19 Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering?
19 Cegos! Que é mais importante: a oferta, ou o altar que santifica a oferta?
20 Whosoeuer therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
20 Portanto, aquele que jurar pelo altar, jura por ele e por tudo o que está sobre ele.
21 And whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
21 E o que jurar pelo santuário, jura por ele e por aquele que nele habita.
22 And he that sweareth by heauen, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
22 E aquele que jurar pelo céu, jura pelo trono de Deus e por aquele que nele se assenta.
23 Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye tithe mynt, and annyse, and cummyn, and leaue the weightier matters of the law, as iudgement, and mercy and fidelitie. These ought ye to haue done, and not to haue left the other.
23 "Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas! Vocês dão o dízimo da hortelã, do endro e do cominho, mas têm negligenciado os preceitos mais importantes da lei: a justiça, a misericórdia e a fidelidade. Vocês devem praticar estas coisas, sem omitir aquelas.
24 Ye blinde guides, which straine out a gnat, and swallowe a camell.
24 Guias cegos! Vocês coam um mosquito e engolem um camelo.
25 Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye make cleane the vtter side of the cup, and of the platter: but within they are ful of briberie and excesse.
25 "Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas! Vocês limpam o exterior do copo e do prato, mas por dentro eles estão cheios de ganância e cobiça.
26 Thou blinde Pharise, cleanse first the inside of the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be cleane also.
26 Fariseu cego! Limpe primeiro o interior do copo e do prato, para que o exterior também fique limpo.
27 Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are like vnto whited tombes, which appeare beautifull outward, but are within full of dead mens bones, and all filthines.
27 "Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas! Vocês são como sepulcros caiados: bonitos por fora, mas por dentro estão cheios de ossos e de todo tipo de imundície.
28 So are ye also: for outwarde ye appeare righteous vnto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisie and iniquitie.
28 Assim são vocês: por fora parecem justos ao povo, mas por dentro estão cheios de hipocrisia e maldade.
29 Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye build the tombes of the Prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
29 "Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas! Vocês edificam os túmulos dos profetas e adornam os monumentos dos justos.
30 And say, If we had bene in the dayes of our fathers, we would not haue bene partners with them in the blood of the Prophets.
30 E dizem: ‘Se tivéssemos vivido no tempo dos nossos antepassados, não teríamos tomado parte com eles no derramamento do sangue dos profetas’.
31 So then ye be witnesses vnto your selues, that ye are the children of them that murthered the Prophets.
31 Assim, vocês testemunham contra si mesmos que são descendentes dos que assassinaram os profetas.
32 Fulfill ye also ye measure of your fathers.
32 Acabem, pois, de encher a medida do pecado dos seus antepassados!
33 O serpents, the generation of vipers, howe should ye escape the damnation of hell!
33 "Serpentes! Raça de víboras! Como vocês escaparão da condenação ao inferno?
34 Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie,
34 Por isso, eu lhes estou enviando profetas, sábios e mestres. A uns vocês matarão e crucificarão; a outros açoitarão nas sinagogas de vocês e perseguirão de cidade em cidade.
35 That vpon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed vpon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, vnto the blood of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whome ye slewe betweene the Temple and the altar.
35 E, assim, sobre vocês recairá todo o sangue justo derramado na terra, desde o sangue do justo Abel, até o sangue de Zacarias, filho de Baraquias, a quem vocês assassinaram entre o santuário e o altar.
36 Verely I say vnto you, all these things shall come vpon this generation.
36 Eu lhes asseguro que tudo isso sobrevirá a esta geração.
37 Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not!
37 "Jerusalém, Jerusalém, você, que mata os profetas e apedreja os que lhe são enviados! Quantas vezes eu quis reunir os seus filhos, como a galinha reúne os seus pintinhos debaixo das suas asas, mas vocês não quiseram.
38 Beholde, your habitation shalbe left vnto you desolate,
38 Eis que a casa de vocês ficará deserta.
39 For I say vnto you, ye shall not see mee henceforth till that ye say, Blessed is he that commeth in the Name of the Lord.
39 Pois eu lhes digo que vocês não me verão desde agora, até que digam: ‘Bendito é o que vem em nome do Senhor’".
