1 Then spake Iesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
1 Então falou Jesus à multidão, e aos seus discípulos,
2 Saying, The Scribes and the Pharises sit in Moses seate.
2 dizendo: Na cadeira de Moisés se assentam os escribas e os fariseus.
3 All therefore whatsoeuer they bid you obserue, that obserue and doe: but after their workes doe not: for they say, and doe not.
3 Tudo, pois, o que vos disserem, isso observai e fazei; porém não façais segundo as suas obras, porque eles dizem, e não fazem.
4 For they binde heauie burdens, and grieuous to be borne, and lay them on mens shoulders, but they themselues will not moue them with one of their fingers.
4 Porque eles atam fardos pesados e difíceis de suportar, e os põem nos ombros dos homens; mas eles nem com seu dedo querem movê-los.
5 All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments,
5 Mas todas as suas obras eles fazem para serem vistos pelos homens; eles fazem os seus filactérios mais largos, e aumentam as orlas das suas vestes,
6 And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies,
6 e amam os lugares mais altos nas festas, e os principais assentos nas sinagogas,
7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
7 e as saudações nos mercados, e serem chamados pelos homens: Rabi, Rabi.
8 But be not ye called, Rabbi: for one is your doctour, to wit, Christ, and all ye are brethren.
8 Mas vós não sereis chamados de Rabi, porque um só é o vosso Mestre, o Cristo, e todos vós sois irmãos.
9 And call no man your father vpon the earth: for there is but one, your father which is in heauen.
9 E a nenhum homem na terra chameis de vosso pai, porque um só é o vosso Pai, o qual está no céu.
10 Be not called doctours: for one is your doctour, euen Christ.
10 Nem vos chameis de mestres, porque um só é o vosso Mestre, o Cristo.
11 But he that is greatest among you, let him be your seruant.
11 Mas o que for maior dentre vós será o vosso servo.
12 For whosoeuer will exalt himselfe, shall be brought lowe: and whosoeuer will humble himselfe, shalbe exalted.
12 E aquele que a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado; e aquele que a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado.
13 Wo therefore be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites, because ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: for ye your selues go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in.
13 Mas ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque fechais o reino do céu aos homens; pois nem vós entrais, nem deixais entrar os que estão entrando.
14 Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers: wherefore ye shall receiue the greater damnation.
14 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque devorais as casas das viúvas, e sob pretexto fazeis longas orações; por isso recebereis a maior condenação.
15 Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye compasse sea and land to make one of your profession: and when he is made, ye make him two folde more the childe of hell, then you your selues.
15 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque percorreis o mar e a terra para fazer um prosélito, e depois de o terdes feito, o fazeis duas vezes mais filho do inferno do que vós.
16 Wo be vnto you blinde guides, which say, Whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the golde of the Temple, he offendeth.
16 Ai de vós, guias cegos, que dizeis: Quem jurar pelo templo, isso nada é; mas o que jurar pelo ouro do templo, esse é um devedor.
17 Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the golde, or the Temple that sanctifieth the golde?
17 Tolos e cegos! Pois qual é maior, o ouro, ou o templo que santifica o ouro?
18 And whosoeuer sweareth by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the offering that is vpon it, offendeth.
18 E aquele que jurar pelo altar, isso nada é; mas aquele que jurar pela oferta que está sobre ele, esse é um devedor.
19 Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering?
19 Tolos e cegos; por que qual é maior, a oferta, ou o altar que santifica a oferta?
20 Whosoeuer therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
20 Portanto, o que jurar pelo altar, jura por ele, e por todas as coisas sobre ele.
21 And whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
21 E, o que jurar pelo templo, jura por ele, e por aquele que nele habita.
22 And he that sweareth by heauen, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
22 E, o que jurar pelo céu, jura pelo trono de Deus, e por aquele que está assentado sobre ele.
23 Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye tithe mynt, and annyse, and cummyn, and leaue the weightier matters of the law, as iudgement, and mercy and fidelitie. These ought ye to haue done, and not to haue left the other.
23 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque pagam o dízimo da hortelã, do endro e do cominho, e tendes omitido as questões importantes da lei, juízo, misericórdia e fé; essas coisas devíeis ter feito, e não deixar as outras por fazer.
24 Ye blinde guides, which straine out a gnat, and swallowe a camell.
24 Guias cegos, que coais um mosquito, e engolis um camelo.
25 Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye make cleane the vtter side of the cup, and of the platter: but within they are ful of briberie and excesse.
25 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque limpais o lado de fora do copo e do prato, mas por dentro estão cheios de extorsão e transgressão.
26 Thou blinde Pharise, cleanse first the inside of the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be cleane also.
26 Tu fariseu cego! Limpa primeiro o que está dentro do copo e do prato, para que também o lado de fora seja limpo também.
27 Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are like vnto whited tombes, which appeare beautifull outward, but are within full of dead mens bones, and all filthines.
27 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque sois semelhantes aos sepulcros caiados, que por fora realmente parecem formosos, mas por dentro estão cheios de ossos de homens mortos e de toda a impureza.
28 So are ye also: for outwarde ye appeare righteous vnto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisie and iniquitie.
28 Assim também vós exteriormente pareceis justos aos homens, mas por dentro estais cheios de hipocrisia e de iniquidade.
29 Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye build the tombes of the Prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
29 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque edificais os túmulos dos profetas e enfeitam os sepulcros dos justos;
30 And say, If we had bene in the dayes of our fathers, we would not haue bene partners with them in the blood of the Prophets.
30 e dizeis: Se existíssemos nos dias de nossos pais, não teríamos sido com eles cúmplices no sangue dos profetas.
31 So then ye be witnesses vnto your selues, that ye are the children of them that murthered the Prophets.
31 Assim, testificais contra vós mesmos, pois sois filhos dos que mataram os profetas.
32 Fulfill ye also ye measure of your fathers.
32 Enchei vós, então, a medida de vossos pais.
33 O serpents, the generation of vipers, howe should ye escape the damnation of hell!
33 Serpentes, geração de víboras, como podeis escapar da condenação do inferno?
34 Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie,
34 Portanto, eis que eu vos envio profetas, homens sábios e escribas; a alguns deles matareis e crucificareis; e a outros açoitareis nas vossas sinagogas e os perseguireis de cidade em cidade.
35 That vpon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed vpon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, vnto the blood of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whome ye slewe betweene the Temple and the altar.
35 Para que sobre vós possa vir todo o sangue justo, que foi derramado sobre a terra, desde o sangue do justo Abel até o sangue de Zacarias, filho de Baraquias, que matastes entre o templo e o altar.
36 Verely I say vnto you, all these things shall come vpon this generation.
36 Na verdade eu vos digo que todas estas coisas sobrevirão sobre esta geração.
37 Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not!
37 Ó Jerusalém, Jerusalém, que matas os profetas, e apedrejas os que te são enviados, quantas vezes eu quis ajuntar os teus filhos, como a galinha ajunta os seus pintinhos debaixo das asas, e tu não quiseste!
38 Beholde, your habitation shalbe left vnto you desolate,
38 Eis que a vossa casa é deixada desolada.
39 For I say vnto you, ye shall not see mee henceforth till that ye say, Blessed is he that commeth in the Name of the Lord.
39 Porque eu vos digo que desde agora não me vereis mais, até que digais: Bendito seja o que vem em nome do Senhor.
