1 Woe is me, for I am as the sommer gatherings, and as the grapes of the vintage: there is no cluster to eate: my soule desired the first ripe fruites.
1 Ai de mim! Sou como um homem faminto que depois da colheita procura figos nas figueiras e uvas nas parreiras , mas não encontra nada porque todas as uvas e todos os figos maduros foram colhidos.
2 The good man is perished out of the earth, and there is none righteous among men: they all lye in wayte for blood: euery man hunteth his brother with a net.
2 No país inteiro não há uma só pessoa honesta, nem uma que obedeça a Deus. Todos estão procurando matar os outros; cada um procura pôr o seu patrício na cadeia.
3 To make good for the euil of their hands, the prince asked, and the iudge iudgeth for a reward: therefore the great man he speaketh out the corruption of his soule: so they wrapt it vp.
3 Todos estão prontos para fazer o que é mau. Autoridades exigem dinheiro por fora, e juízes recebem presentes para torcer a justiça. Os poderosos contam como vão satisfazer os seus maus desejos. Todos planejam fazer coisas más.
4 The best of them is as a brier, and the most righteous of them is sharper then a thorne hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation commeth: then shalbe their confusion.
4 Mesmo as melhores pessoas, as que são mais honestas, não valem mais do que espinheiros. Mas está chegando o dia em que Deus vai castigá-los, conforme os vigias dele, isto é, os profetas , anunciaram. Naquele dia, haverá confusão geral.
5 Trust ye not in a friend, neither put ye confidence in a counseller: keepe the doores of thy mouth from her that lyeth in thy bosome.
5 Não acreditem nos vizinhos, nem confiem nos amigos. Cada um tome cuidado até com o que diz à sua mulher.
6 For the sonne reuileth the father: ye daughter riseth vp against her mother: the daughter in lawe against her mother in lawe, and a mans enemies are the men of his owne house.
6 Pois hoje em dia os filhos desprezam os pais, as filhas desobedecem às mães, e as noras brigam com as sogras; e os piores inimigos de qualquer pessoa são os próprios parentes.
7 Therefore I will looke vnto the Lord: I will waite for God my Sauiour: my God will heare me.
7 Eu, porém, ponho a minha esperança em Deus, o Senhor , e confio firmemente que ele me salvará. O meu Deus me atenderá.
8 Reioyce not against me, O mine enemie: though I fall, I shall arise: when I shall sit in darkenesse, the Lord shalbe a light vnto me.
8 Inimigos, não zombem de nós! De fato, caímos, mas ficaremos novamente de pé; agora, estamos na escuridão, mas o Senhor será a nossa luz.
9 I will beare the wrath of the Lord because I haue sinned against him, vntill he pleade my cause, and execute iudgement for me: then will he bring me foorth to the light, and I shall see his righteousnesse.
9 Nós pecamos contra Deus e agora teremos de suportar a sua ira . Mas ele vai julgar a nossa causa e nos fará justiça. Ele nos levará para a luz, e nós seremos salvos.
10 Then she that is mine enemie, shall looke vpon it, and shame shall couer her, which said vnto me, Where is the Lord thy God? Mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be troden downe as the myre of the streetes.
10 Quando os nossos inimigos virem isso, ficarão envergonhados, pois disseram: “Onde está o Senhor , o Deus de vocês?” E agora vamos ter o prazer de vê-los derrotados; eles serão pisados como a lama das ruas.
11 This is ye day, that thy walles shalbe built: this day shall driue farre away the decree.
11 Povo de Jerusalém, está chegando o tempo de construir de novo as muralhas da cidade e de mudar para mais longe as fronteiras do país.
12 In this day also they shall come vnto thee from Asshur, and from the strong cities, and from the strong holdes euen vnto the riuer, and from Sea to Sea, and from mountaine to mountaine.
12 Naquele dia, os nossos patrícios voltarão para Jerusalém. Eles virão da Assíria, do Egito e da região do rio Eufrates; virão dos mares e das montanhas mais distantes.
13 Notwithstanding, the lande shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, and for the fruites of their inuentions.
13 Mas o mundo inteiro vai virar um deserto por causa dos pecados dos seus moradores.
14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flocke of thine heritage (which dwell solitarie in the wood) as in the middes of Carmel: let them feede in Bashan and Gilead, as in olde time.
14 Ó Deus, nosso pastor, cuida de nós, o teu rebanho. Pois vivemos isolados numa floresta cercada de terras boas e férteis. Como fizeste no passado, leva-nos agora para os bons pastos de Basã e de Gileade.
15 According to the dayes of thy comming out of the lande of Egypt, will I shewe vnto him marueilous things.
15 Faze milagres a nosso favor, como fizeste quando nos tiraste do Egito.
16 The nations shall see, and be confounded for all their power: they shall lay their hande vpon their mouth: their eares shall be deafe.
16 Nações poderosas verão isso e, apesar de todo o seu poder, ficarão envergonhadas. Os outros povos ficarão com medo, fecharão a boca e taparão os ouvidos.
17 They shall licke the dust like a serpent: they shall mooue out of their holes like wormes: they shalbe afraide of the Lord our God, and shall feare because of thee.
17 Eles se arrastarão no pó como cobras, como animais que se arrastam pelo chão. Tremendo de medo, eles sairão das suas fortalezas e, cheios de temor , voltarão para o Senhor , nosso Deus.
18 Who is a God like vnto thee, that taketh away iniquitie, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage! He reteineth not his wrath for euer, because mercie pleaseth him.
18 Ó Deus, não há outro deus como tu, pois perdoas os pecados e as maldades daqueles do teu povo que ficaram vivos. Tu não continuas irado para sempre, mas tens prazer em nos mostrar sempre o teu amor.
19 He will turne againe, and haue compassion vpon vs: he will subdue our iniquities, and cast all their sinnes into the bottome of the sea.
19 Novamente, terás compaixão de nós; acabarás com as nossas maldades e jogarás os nossos pecados no fundo do mar.
20 Thou wilt perfourme thy trueth to Iaakob, and mercie to Abraham, as thou hast sworne vnto our fathers in olde time.
20 Como prometeste antigamente aos nossos antepassados, tu serás fiel e mostrarás o teu amor a nós, os descendentes de Abraão e de Jacó.
