1 The worde which came to Ieremiah from the Lord after that Nebuzar-adan the chiefe stewarde had let him goe from Ramath, when hee had taken him being bound in chaines among all that were caried away captiue of Ierusalem and Iudah, which were caried away captiue vnto Babel.
1 A palavra que veio a Jeremias da parte do Senhor, depois que Nebuzaradão, capitão da guarda, o deixara ir de Ramá, quando o havia tomado, estando ele atado com cadeias no meio de todos os do cativeiro de Jerusalém e de Judá, que estavam sendo levados cativos para Babilônia.
2 And the chiefe stewarde tooke Ieremiah, and said vnto him, The Lord thy God hath pronounced this plague vpon this place.
2 Ora o capitão da guarda levou Jeremias, e lhe disse: O Senhor teu Deus pronunciou este mal contra este lugar;
3 Nowe the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye haue sinned against the Lord, and haue not obeyed his voyce, therefore this thing is come vpon you.
3 e o Senhor o trouxe, e fez como havia dito; porque pecastes contra o Senhor, e não obedecestes à sua voz, portanto vos sucedeu tudo isto.
4 And nowe beholde, I loose thee this day from the chaines which were on thine handes, if it please thee to come with me into Babel, come, and I will looke well vnto thee: but if it please thee not to come with mee into Babel, tarie still: beholde, all the lande is before thee: whither it seemeth good, and conuenient for thee to goe, thither goe.
4 Agora pois, eis que te solto hoje das cadeias que estão sobre as tuas mãos. Se te apraz vir comigo para Babilônia, vem, e eu velarei por ti; mas, se não te apraz vir comigo para Babilônia, deixa de vir. Olha, toda a terra está diante de ti; para onde te parecer bem e conveniente ir, para ali vai.
5 For yet he was not returned: therefore he said, Returne to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, the sonne of Shaphan, whom the King of Babel hath made gouernour ouer all the cities of Iudah, and dwell with him among the people, or goe wheresoeuer it pleaseth thee to goe. So the chiefe stewarde gaue him vitailes and a rewarde, and let him goe.
5 Se assim quiseres, volta a Gedalias, filho de Aicão filho de Safã e a quem o rei de Babilônia constituiu governador das cidades de Judá, e habita com ele no meio do povo; ou vai para qualquer outra parte que te aprouver ir. E deu-lhe o capitão da guarda sustento para o caminho, e um presente, e o deixou ir.
6 Then went Ieremiah vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelt there with him among the people that were left in the lande.
6 Assim veio Jeremias a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Mizpá, e habitou com ele no meio do povo que havia ficado na terra.
7 Nowe when all the captaines of the hoste, which were in the fieldes, euen they and their men heard, that the King of Babel had made Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam gouernour in the land, and that he had committed vnto him, men, and women, and children, and of the poore of the lande, that were not caried away captiue to Babel,
7 Ouvindo pois todos os chefes das forças que estavam no campo, eles e os seus homens, que o rei de Babilônia havia constituído a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, governador da terra, e que lhe havia confiado homens, mulheres e crianças, os mais pobres da terra, que não foram levados cativos para Babilônia,
8 Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, euen Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and Iohanan, and Ionathan the sonnes of Kareah, and Seraiah the sonne of Tanehumeth, and the sonnes of Ephai, the Netophathite, and Iezaniah the sonne of Maachathi, they and their men.
8 vieram ter com Gedalias, a Mizpá; e eram: Ismael, filho de Netanias, e Joanã e Jônatas, filhos de Careá, e Seraías, filho de Tanumete, e os filhos de Efai, o netofatita, e Jezanias, filho do maacatita, eles e os seus homens.
9 And Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, the sonne of Shaphan sware vnto them, and to their men, saying, Feare not to serue the Caldeans: dwell in the lande, and serue the King of Babel, and it shall be well with you.
9 E jurou Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, eles e pôs seus homens, dizendo: Não temais servir aos caldeus; habitai na terra, e servi o rei de Babilônia, e bem vos terá.
10 As for me, Beholde, I will dwell at Mizpah to serue the Caldeans, which will come vnto vs: but you, gather you wine, and sommer fruites, and oyle, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities, that ye haue taken.
10 Quanto a mim, eis que habito em Mizpá, para vos representar diante dos caldeus que vierem a nós; vós, porém, colhei o vinho e os frutos de verão, e o azeite, e metei-os nos vossos vasos, e habitai nas vossas cidades, que tomastes.
11 Likewise when all the Iewes that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the King of Babel had left a remnant of Iudah, and that he had set ouer them Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan,
11 Do mesmo modo, quando todos os judeus que estavam em Moabe, e entre os filhos de Amom, e em Edom, e os que havia em todos os países, ouviram que o rei de Babilônia havia deixado um resto em Judá, e que havia posto sobre eles a Guedalias, o de Aicão, filho de Safã;
12 Euen all the Iewes returned out of all places where they were driuen, and came to the land of Iudah to Gedaliah vnto Mizpah, and gathered wine and sommer fruites, very much.
12 voltaram, então, todos os judeus de todos os lugares para onde foram arrojados, e vieram para a terra de Judá, a Gedalias, a Mizpá, e colheram vinho e frutos do verão com muita abundância.
13 Moreouer Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, that were in the fieldes, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
13 Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os chefes das forças que estavam no campo vieram ter com Gedalias, a Mizpá,
14 And said vnto him, Knowest thou not that Baalis the King of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam beleeued them not.
14 e disseram-lhe: Sabes que Baalis, rei dos filhos de Amom, enviou a Ismael, filho de Netanias, para te tirar a vida? Mas não lhes deu crédito Gedalias, filho de Aicão.
15 Then Iohanan the sonne of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me goe, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it. Wherefore should he kill thee, that all the Iewes, which are gathered vnto thee, shoulde be scattered, and the remnant in Iudah perish?
15 Todavia Joanã, filho de Careá, falou a Gedalias em segredo, em Mizpá, dizendo: Deixa, peço-te, que eu vá e mate a Ismael, filho de Netanias, sem que ninguém o saiba. Por que razão te tiraria ele a vida, de modo que fossem dispersos todos os judeus que se têm congregado a ti, e perecesse o resto de Judá?
16 But Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam said vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, Thou shalt not doe this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.
16 Mas disse Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Joanã, filho de Careá: Não faças tal coisa; pois falas falsamente contra Ismael.
