1 Now these are the wordes of the booke that Ieremiah the Prophet sent from Ierusalem vnto the residue of the Elders which were caryed away captiues, and to the Priestes, and to the Prophets, and to all the people whome Nebuchad-nezzar had caried away captiue from Ierusalem to Babel:
1 Ora, são estas as palavras da carta que Jeremias, o profeta, enviou de Jerusalém, aos que restavam dos anciãos do cativeiro, como também aos sacerdotes, e aos profetas, e a todo o povo, que Nabucodonosor levara cativos de Jerusalém para Babilônia,
2 (After that Ieconiah the King, and the Queene, and the eunuches, the princes of Iudah, and of Ierusalem, and the workemen, and cunning men were departed from Ierusalem)
2 depois de terem saído de Jerusalém o rei Jeconias, e a rainha-mãe, e os eunucos, e os príncipes de Judá e Jerusalém e os artífices e os ferreiros.
3 By the hand of Elasah the sonne of Shaphan and Gemariah the sonne of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah King of Iudah sent vnto Babel to Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel) saying,
3 Veio por mão de Elasa, filho de Safã, e de Gemarias, filho de Hilquias, os quais Zedequias, rei de Judá, enviou a Babilônia, a Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia; eis as palavras da carta:
4 Thus hath the Lord of hostes the God of Israel spoken vnto all that are caryed away captiues, whome I haue caused to be caryed away captiues from Ierusalem vnto Babel:
4 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, a todos os do cativeiro, que eu fiz levar cativos de Jerusalém para Babilônia:
5 Buylde you houses to dwell in, and plant you gardens, and eate the fruites of them.
5 Edificai casas e habitai-as; plantai jardins, e comei o seu fruto.
6 Take you wiues, and beget sonnes and daughters, and take wiues for your sonnes, and giue your daughters to husbands, that they may beare sonnes and daughters, that ye may bee increased there, and not diminished.
6 Tomai mulheres e gerai filhos e filhas; também tomai mulheres para vossos filhos, e dai vossas filhas a maridos, para que tenham filhos e filhas; assim multiplicai-vos ali, e não vos diminuais.
7 And seeke the prosperitie of the citie, whither I haue caused you to be caried away captiues, and pray vnto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall you haue peace.
7 E procurai a paz da cidade, para a qual fiz que fôsseis levados cativos, e orai por ela ao Senhor: porque na sua paz vós tereis paz.
8 For thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Let not your prophets, and your southsayers that bee among you, deceiue you, neither giue eare to your dreames, which you dreame.
8 Pois assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Não vos enganem os vossos profetas que estão no meio de vós, nem os vossos adivinhadores; nem deis ouvidos aos vossos sonhos, que vós sonhais;
9 For they prophecie you a lie in my Name: I haue not sent them, saith the Lord.
9 porque eles vos profetizam falsamente em meu nome; não os enviei, diz o Senhor.
10 But thus saith the Lord, That after seuentie yeeres be accomplished at Babel, I will visite you, and performe my good promise toward you, and cause you to returne to this place.
10 Porque assim diz o Senhor: Certamente que passados setenta anos em Babilônia, eu vos visitarei, e cumprirei sobre vós a minha boa palavra, tornando a trazer-vos a este lugar.
11 For I knowe the thoughtes, that I haue thought towards you, saith the Lord, euen the thoughtes of peace, and not of trouble, to giue you an ende, and your hope.
11 Pois eu bem sei os planos que estou projetando para vós, diz o Senhor; planos de paz, e não de mal, para vos dar um futuro e uma esperança.
12 Then shall you crie vnto mee, and ye shall go and pray vnto me, and I will heare you,
12 Então me invocareis, e ireis e orareis a mim, e eu vos ouvirei.
13 And ye shall seeke mee and finde mee, because ye shall seeke mee with all your heart.
13 Buscar-me-eis, e me achareis, quando me buscardes de todo o vosso coração.
14 And I wil be found of you, saith the Lord, and I will turne away your captiuitie, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places, whither I haue cast you, saith the Lord, and will bring you againe vnto the place, whence I caused you to be caryed away captiue.
14 E serei achado de vós, diz o Senhor, e farei voltar os vossos cativos, e congregarvos-ei de todas as nações, e de todos os lugares para onde vos lancei, diz o Senhor; e tornarei a trazer-vos ao lugar de onde vos transportei.
15 Because ye haue sayd, The Lord hath raised vs vp Prophets in Babel,
15 Porque dizeis: O Senhor nos levantou profetas em Babilônia;
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord of the King, that sitteth vpon the throne of Dauid, and of all the people, that dwell in this citie, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captiuitie:
16 portanto assim diz o Senhor a respeito do rei que se assenta no trono de Davi, e de todo o povo que habita nesta cidade, vossos irmãos, que não saíram convosco para o cativeiro;
17 Euen thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will sende vpon them the sworde, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figges, that cannot bee eaten, they are so naughtie.
17 assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Eis que enviarei entre eles a espada, a fome e a peste e fá-los-ei como a figos péssimos, que não se podem comer, de ruins que são.
18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence: and I will make them a terror to all kingdomes of the earth, and a curse, and astonishment and an hissing, and a reproche among all the nations whither I haue cast them,
18 E persegui-los-ei com a espada, com a fome e com a peste; farei que sejam um espetáculo de terror para todos os reinos da terra, e para serem um motivo de execração, de espanto, de assobio, e de opróbrio entre todas as nações para onde os tiver lançado,
19 Because they haue not hearde my words, saith the Lord, which I sent vnto them by my seruantes the Prophetes, rising vp earely, and sending them, but yee woulde not heare, saith the Lord.
19 porque não deram ouvidos às minhas palavras, diz o Senhor, as quais lhes enviei com insistência pelos meus servos, os profetas; mas vós não escutastes, diz o Senhor.
20 Heare ye therefore the word of the Lord all ye of the captiuitie, whome I haue sent from Ierusalem to Babel.
20 Ouvi, pois, a palavra do Senhor, vós todos os do cativeiro que enviei de Jerusalém para Babilônia.
21 Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, of Ahab the sonne of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the sonne of Maaseiah, which prophecie lyes vnto you in my Name, Beholde, I will deliuer them into the hande of Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel, and he shall slay them before your eyes.
21 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, acerca de Acabe, filho de Colaías, e de Zedequias, filho de Maaséias, que vos profetizam falsamente em meu nome: Eis que os entregarei na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e ele os matará diante dos vossos olhos.
22 And al they of the captiuitie of Iudah, that are in Babel, shall take vp this curse against them, and say, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whome the King of Babel burnt in the fire,
22 E por causa deles será formulada uma maldição por todos os exilados de Judá que estão em Babilônia, dizendo: O Senhor te faça como a Zedequias, e como a Acabe, os quais o rei de Babilônia assou no fogo;
23 Because they haue committed vilenie in Israel, and haue committed adulterie with their neighbours wiues, and haue spoken lying words in my Name, which I haue not commanded them, euen I knowe it, and testifie it, saith the Lord.
23 porque fizeram insensatez em Israel, cometendo adultério com as mulheres de seus próximos, e anunciando falsamente em meu nome palavras que não lhes mandei. Eu o sei, e sou testemunha disso, diz o Senhor.
24 Thou shalt also speake to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
24 E a Semaías, o neelamita, falarás, dizendo:
25 Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy Name vnto all the people, that are at Ierusalem, and to Zephaniah the sonne of Maaseiah the Priest, and to all the Priests, saying,
25 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Porquanto enviaste em teu próprio nome cartas a todo o povo que está em Jerusalém, como também a Sofonias, filho de Maaséias, o sacerdote, e a todos os sacerdotes, dizendo:
26 The Lord hath made thee Priest for Iehoiada the Priest, that yee should bee officers in the House of the Lord, for euery man that raueth and maketh himselfe a Prophet, to put him in prison and in the stockes.
26 O Senhor te pôs por sacerdote em lugar de Jeoiada, o sacerdote, para que fosses encarregado da casa do Senhor, sobre todo homem obsesso que profetiza, para o lançares na prisão e no tronco;
27 Nowe therefore why hast not thou reproued Ieremiah of Anathoth, which prophecieth vnto you?
27 agora, pois, por que não repreendeste a Jeremias, o anatotita, que vos profetiza?
28 For, for this cause hee sent vnto vs in Babel, saying, This captiuitie is long: buyld houses to dwell in, and plant gardens, and eate the fruites of them.
28 Pois que até nos mandou dizer em Babilônia: O cativeiro muito há de durar; edificai casas, e habitai-as; e plantai jardins, e comei do seu fruto.
29 And Zephaniah the Priest red this letter in the eares of Ieremiah the Prophet.
29 E lera Sofonias, o sacerdote, esta carta aos ouvidos de Jeremias, o profeta.
30 Then came the worde of the Lord vnto Ieremiah, saying,
30 Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo:
31 Send to all them of the captiuitie, saying, Thus saith the Lord of Shemaiah the Nehelamite, Because that Shemaiah hath prophecied vnto you, and I sent him not, and hee caused you to trust in a lye,
31 Manda a todos os do cativeiro, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor acerca de Semaías, o neelamita: Porquanto Semaías vos profetizou, quando eu não o enviei, e vos fez confiar numa mentira,
32 Therefore thus saieth the Lord, Behold, I wil visite Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seede: hee shall not haue a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he beholde the good, that I will doe for my people, sayth the Lord, because he hath spoken rebelliously against the Lord.
32 portanto assim diz o Senhor: Eis que castigarei a Semaías, o neelamita, e a sua descendência; ele não terá varão que habite entre este povo, nem verá ele o bem que hei de fazer ao meu povo, diz o Senhor, porque pregou rebelião contra o Senhor.
