1 After that, there was a feast of the Iewes, and Iesus went vp to Hierusalem.
1 Depois disso, houve uma festa dos judeus, e Jesus foi até Jerusalém.
2 And there is at Hierusalem by the place of the sheepe, a poole called in Ebrew Bethesda, hauing fiue porches:
2 Ali existe um tanque que tem cinco entradas e que fica perto do Portão das Ovelhas. Em hebraico esse tanque se chama “Betezata”.
3 In the which lay a great multitude of sicke folke, of blinde, halte, and withered, wayting for the mouing of the water.
3 Perto das entradas estavam deitados muitos doentes: cegos, aleijados e paralíticos. [Esperavam o movimento da água,
4 For an Angel went downe at a certaine season into the poole, and troubled the water: whosoeuer then first, after the stirring of the water, stepped in, was made whole of whatsoeuer disease he had.
4 porque de vez em quando um anjo do Senhor descia e agitava a água. O primeiro doente que entrava no tanque depois disso sarava de qualquer doença.]
5 And a certaine man was there, which had bene diseased eight and thirtie yeeres.
5 Entre eles havia um homem que era doente fazia trinta e oito anos.
6 When Iesus sawe him lie, and knew that he nowe long time had bene diseased, he saide vnto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
6 Jesus viu o homem deitado e, sabendo que fazia todo esse tempo que ele era doente, perguntou:
7 The sicke man answered him, Sir, I haue no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the poole: but while I am comming, another steppeth downe before me.
7 Ele respondeu: — Senhor, eu não tenho ninguém para me pôr no tanque quando a água se mexe. Cada vez que eu tento entrar, outro doente entra antes de mim.
8 Iesus said vnto him, Rise: take vp thy bed, and walke.
8 Então Jesus disse:
9 And immediatly the man was made whole, and tooke vp his bed, and walked: and the same day was the Sabbath.
9 No mesmo instante, o homem ficou curado, pegou a cama e começou a andar. Isso aconteceu no sábado.
10 The Iewes therefore said to him that was made whole, It is the Sabbath day: it is not lawfull for thee to cary thy bed.
10 Por isso os líderes judeus disseram a ele: — Hoje é sábado, e a nossa
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, he said vnto me, Take vp thy bed, and walke.
11 Ele respondeu: — O homem que me curou me disse: “Pegue a sua cama e ande.”
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said vnto thee, Take vp thy bed and walke?
12 Eles perguntaram: — Quem é o homem que mandou você fazer isso?
13 And he that was healed, knewe not who it was: for Iesus had conueied himselfe away from the multitude that was in that place.
13 Mas ele não sabia quem tinha sido, pois Jesus havia ido embora por causa da multidão que estava ali.
14 And after that, Iesus founde him in the Temple, and said vnto him, Beholde, thou art made whole: sinne no more, lest a worse thing come vnto thee.
14 Mais tarde Jesus encontrou o homem no pátio do Templo e disse a ele:
15 The man departed and tolde the Iewes that it was Iesus, which had made him whole.
15 O homem saiu dali e foi dizer aos líderes judeus que quem o havia curado tinha sido Jesus.
16 And therefore the Iewes did persecute Iesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the Sabbath day.
16 Então eles começaram a perseguir Jesus porque ele havia feito essa cura no sábado.
17 But Iesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I worke.
17 Então Jesus disse a eles:
18 Therefore the Iewes sought the more to kill him: not onely because he had broken the Sabbath: but said also that God was his Father, and made himselfe equall with God.
18 E, porque ele disse isso, os líderes judeus ficaram ainda com mais vontade de matá-lo. Pois, além de não obedecer à lei do sábado, ele afirmava que Deus era o seu próprio Pai, fazendo-se assim igual a Deus.
19 Then answered Iesus, and said vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, The Sonne can doe nothing of himselfe, saue that he seeth the Father doe: for whatsoeuer things he doth, the same things doeth the Sonne in like maner.
19 Então Jesus disse a eles:
20 For the Father loueth the Sonne, and sheweth him all things, whatsoeuer he himselfe doeth, and he will shewe him greater workes then these, that ye should marueile.
20 pois o Pai ama o Filho e lhe mostra tudo o que está fazendo. E vai mostrar a ele coisas ainda maiores do que essas, e vocês vão ficar admirados.
21 For likewise as the Father rayseth vp the dead, and quickeneth them, so the Sonne quickeneth whom he will.
21 Porque, assim como o Pai ressuscita os mortos e lhes dá vida, assim também o Filho dá vida aos que ele quer.
22 For the Father iudgeth no man, but hath committed all iudgement vnto the Sonne,
22 O Pai não julga ninguém, mas deu ao Filho todo o poder para julgar
23 Because that all men shoulde honour the Sonne, as they honour the Father: he that honoureth not the Sonne, the same honoureth not the Father, which hath sent him.
23 a fim de que todos respeitem o Filho, assim como respeitam o Pai. Quem não respeita o Filho também não respeita o Pai, que o enviou.
24 Verely, verely I say vnto you, he that heareth my worde, and beleeueth him that sent me, hath euerlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but hath passed from death vnto life.
24 — Eu afirmo a vocês que isto é verdade: quem ouve as minhas palavras e crê naquele que me enviou tem a vida eterna e não será julgado, mas já passou da morte para a vida.
25 Verely, verely I say vnto you, the houre shall come, and now is, when the dead shall heare the voyce of the Sonne of God: and they that heare it, shall liue.
25 Eu afirmo a vocês que isto é verdade: vem a hora, e ela já chegou, em que os mortos vão ouvir a voz do Filho de Deus, e os que a ouvirem viverão.
26 For as the Father hath life in himselfe, so likewise hath he giuen to the Sonne to haue life in himselfe,
26 Assim como o Pai é a fonte da vida, assim também fez o Filho ser a fonte da vida.
27 And hath giuen him power also to execute iudgement, in that he is the Sonne of man.
27 E ele deu ao Filho autoridade para julgar, pois ele é o
28 Marueile not at this: for the houre shall come, in the which all that are in the graues, shall heare his voyce.
28 — Não fiquem admirados por causa disso, pois está chegando a hora em que todos os mortos ouvirão a voz do Filho do Homem
29 And they shall come foorth, that haue done good, vnto ye resurrection of life: but they that haue done euil, vnto the resurrection of condemnation.
29 e sairão das suas sepulturas. Aqueles que fizeram o bem vão ressuscitar e viver, e aqueles que fizeram o mal vão ressuscitar e ser condenados.
30 I can doe nothing of mine owne selfe: as I heare, I iudge: and my iudgement is iust, because I seeke not mine owne will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me.
30 Jesus continuou a falar a eles. Ele disse:
31 If I should beare witnesse of my selfe, my witnesse were not true.
31 — Se eu dou testemunho a favor de mim mesmo, então o que digo não tem valor.
32 There is another that beareth witnesse of me, and I know that the witnesse, which he beareth of me, is true.
32 Mas existe outro que testemunha a meu favor, e eu sei que o que ele diz a respeito de mim é verdade.
33 Ye sent vnto Iohn, and he bare witnesse vnto the trueth.
33 Vocês mandaram fazer perguntas a João, e o testemunho que ele deu é verdadeiro.
34 But I receiue not the record of man: neuerthelesse these things I say, that ye might be saued.
34 Eu não preciso que ninguém dê testemunho a meu favor, mas digo essas coisas para que vocês sejam salvos.
35 He was a burning, and a shining candle: and ye would for a season haue reioyced in his light.
35 — João era como uma lamparina que estava acesa e brilhava, e por algum tempo vocês se alegraram com a luz dele.
36 But I haue greater witnesse then the witnesse of Iohn: for the workes which the Father hath giuen me to finish, the same workes that I doe, beare witnesse of me, that the Father sent me.
36 Mas eu tenho um testemunho a meu favor ainda mais forte do que o que João deu: são as coisas que eu faço, as quais o meu Pai me mandou fazer. Elas dão testemunho a favor de mim e provam que o Pai me enviou.
37 And the Father himselfe, which hath sent me, beareth witnesse of me. Ye haue not heard his voyce at any time, neither haue ye seene his shape.
37 Também o Pai, que me enviou, testemunha a meu favor. Vocês nunca ouviram a voz dele, nem viram o seu rosto.
38 And his worde haue you not abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye beleeued not.
38 As palavras dele não estão no coração de vocês porque vocês não creem naquele que ele enviou.
39 Searche the Scriptures: for in them ye thinke to haue eternall life, and they are they which testifie of me.
39 Vocês estudam as
40 But ye will not come to me, that ye might haue life.
40 Mas vocês não querem vir para mim a fim de ter vida.
41 I receiue not the prayse of men.
41 — Eu não procuro ser elogiado pelas pessoas.
42 But I know you, that ye haue not the loue of God in you.
42 Quanto a vocês, eu os conheço e sei que não amam a Deus com sinceridade.
43 I am come in my Fathers Name, and ye receiue me not: if another shall come in his owne name, him will ye receiue.
43 Eu vim com a autoridade do meu Pai, e vocês não me recebem. Quando alguém vem com a sua própria autoridade, esse vocês recebem.
44 How can ye beleeue, which receiue honour one of another, and seeke not the honour that commeth of God alone?
44 Como é que vocês podem crer, se aceitam ser elogiados pelos outros e não tentam conseguir os elogios que somente o único Deus pode dar?
45 Doe not thinke that I will accuse you to my Father: there is one that accuseth you, euen Moses, in whom ye trust.
45 Não pensem que sou eu que vou acusá-los diante do Pai; quem vai acusá-los é Moisés, que é aquele em quem vocês confiam.
46 For had ye beleeued Moses, ye would haue beleeued me: for he wrote of me.
46 Se vocês acreditassem em Moisés, acreditariam também em mim, pois ele escreveu a meu respeito.
47 But if ye beleeue not his writings, how shall ye beleeue my wordes?
47 Mas, se vocês não acreditam no que ele escreveu, como vão acreditar no que eu digo?
