1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, will your God say.
1 Consolai, consolai o meu povo, diz o vosso Deus.
2 Speake comfortably to Ierusalem, and crye vnto her, that her warrefare is accomplished, that her iniquitie is pardoned: for she hath receiued of the Lords hand double for all her sinnes.
2 Falai benignamente a Jerusalém, e bradai-lhe que já a sua milícia é acabada, que a sua iniqüidade está expiada e que já recebeu em dobro da mão do Senhor, por todos os seus pecados.
3 A voyce cryeth in the wildernesse, Prepare ye the way of the Lord: make streight in the desert a path for our God.
3 Voz do que clama no deserto: Preparai o caminho do Senhor; endireitai no ermo vereda a nosso Deus.
4 Euery valley shall be exalted, and euery mountaine and hill shall be made lowe: and the crooked shalbe streight, and the rough places plaine.
4 Todo o vale será exaltado, e todo o monte e todo o outeiro será abatido; e o que é torcido se endireitará, e o que é áspero se aplainará.
5 And the glory of the Lord shalbe reueiled, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
5 E a glória do Senhor se manifestará, e toda a carne juntamente a verá, pois a boca do Senhor o disse.
6 A voyce saide, Crie. And he saide, What shall I crie? All flesh is grasse, and all the grace thereof is as the floure of the fielde.
6 Uma voz diz: Clama; e alguém disse: Que hei de clamar? Toda a carne é erva e toda a sua beleza como a flor do campo.
7 The grasse withereth, the floure fadeth, because the Spirite of the Lord bloweth vpon it: surely the people is grasse.
7 Seca-se a erva, e cai a flor, soprando nela o Espírito do Senhor. Na verdade o povo é erva.
8 The grasse withereth, the floure fadeth: but the worde of our God shall stand for euer.
8 Seca-se a erva, e cai a flor, porém a palavra de nosso Deus subsiste eternamente.
9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee vp into the hie mountaine: O Ierusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift vp thy voyce with strength: lift it vp, be not afraide: say vnto the cities of Iudah, Beholde your God.
9 Tu, ó Sião, que anuncias boas novas, sobe a um monte alto. Tu, ó Jerusalém, que anuncias boas novas, levanta a tua voz fortemente; levanta-a, não temas, e dize às cidades de Judá: Eis aqui está o vosso Deus.
10 Beholde, the Lord God will come with power, and his arme shall rule for him: beholde, his rewarde is with him, and his worke before him,
10 Eis que o Senhor DEUS virá com poder e seu braço dominará por ele; eis que o seu galardão está com ele, e o seu salário diante da sua face.
11 He shall feede his flocke like a shepheard: he shall gather the lambes with his arme, and cary them in his bosome, and shall guide them with young.
11 Como pastor apascentará o seu rebanho; entre os seus braços recolherá os cordeirinhos, e os levará no seu regaço; as que amamentam guiará suavemente.
12 Who hath measured the waters in his fist? and counted heauen with the spanne, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure? and weighed ye mountaines in a weight, and the hilles in a balance?
12 Quem mediu na concha da sua mão as águas, e tomou a medida dos céus aos palmos, e recolheu numa medida o pó da terra e pesou os montes com peso e os outeiros em balanças?
13 Who hath instructed ye Spirit of the Lord? or was his counseler or taught him?
13 Quem guiou o Espírito do Senhor, ou como seu conselheiro o ensinou?
14 Of whom tooke he counsell, and who instructed him and taught him in the way of iudgement? or taught him knowledge, and shewed vnto him the way of vnderstanding?
14 Com quem tomou ele conselho, que lhe desse entendimento, e lhe ensinasse o caminho do juízo, e lhe ensinasse conhecimento, e lhe mostrasse o caminho do entendimento?
15 Beholde, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the dust of the balance: beholde, he taketh away the yles as a litle dust.
15 Eis que as nações são consideradas por ele como a gota de um balde, e como o pó miúdo das balanças; eis que ele levanta as ilhas como a uma coisa pequeníssima.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient for fire, nor the beastes thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
16 Nem todo o Líbano basta para o fogo, nem os seus animais bastam para holocaustos.
17 All nations before him are as nothing, and they are counted to him, lesse then nothing, and vanitie.
17 Todas as nações são como nada perante ele; ele as considera menos do que nada e como uma coisa vã.
18 To whom then wil ye liken God? or what similitude will ye set vp vnto him?
18 A quem, pois, fareis semelhante a Deus, ou com que o comparareis?
19 The workeman melteth an image, or the goldsmith beateth it out in golde, or the goldesmith maketh siluer plates.
19 O artífice funde a imagem, e o ourives a cobre de ouro, e forja para ela cadeias de prata.
20 Doeth not the poore chuse out a tree that will not rot, for an oblation? he seeketh also vnto him a cunning workeman, to prepare an image, that shall not be moued.
20 O empobrecido, que não pode oferecer tanto, escolhe madeira que não se apodrece; artífice sábio busca, para gravar uma imagem que não se pode mover.
21 Know ye nothing? haue ye not heard it? hath it not bene tolde you from the beginning? haue ye not vnderstand it by the foundation of the earth?
21 Porventura não sabeis? Porventura não ouvis, ou desde o princípio não se vos notificou, ou não atentastes para os fundamentos da terra?
22 He sitteth vpon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grashoppers, hee stretcheth out ye heauens, as a curtaine, and spreadeth them out, as a tent to dwell in.
22 Ele é o que está assentado sobre o círculo da terra, cujos moradores são para ele como gafanhotos; é ele o que estende os céus como cortina, e os desenrola como tenda, para neles habitar;
23 He bringeth the princes to nothing, and maketh the iudges of the earth, as vanitie,
23 O que reduz a nada os príncipes, e torna em coisa vã os juízes da terra.
24 As though they were not plated, as though they were not sowen, as though their stocke tooke no roote in the earth: for he did euen blow vpon them, and they withered, and the whirlewinde will take them away as stubble.
24 E mal se tem plantado, mal se tem semeado, e mal se tem arraigado na terra o seu tronco, já se secam, quando ele sopra sobre eles, e um tufão os leva como a pragana.
25 To whom nowe will ye liken me, that I should be like him, saith the Holy one?
25 A quem, pois, me fareis semelhante, para que eu lhe seja igual? diz o Santo.
26 Lift vp your eyes on hie, and beholde who hath created these things, and bringeth out their armies by nomber, and calleth them all by names? by the greatnesse of his power and mightie strength nothing faileth.
26 Levantai ao alto os vossos olhos, e vede quem criou estas coisas; foi aquele que faz sair o exército delas segundo o seu número; ele as chama a todas pelos seus nomes; por causa da grandeza das suas forças, e porquanto é forte em poder, nenhuma delas faltará.
27 Why sayest thou, O Iaakob, and speakest O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my iudgement is passed ouer of my God?
27 Por que dizes, ó Jacó, e tu falas, ó Israel: O meu caminho está encoberto ao Senhor, e o meu juízo passa despercebido ao meu Deus?
28 Knowest thou not? or hast thou not heard, that the euerlasting God, the Lord hath created the endes of the earth? he neither fainteth, nor is wearie: there is no searching of his vnderstanding.
28 Não sabes, não ouviste que o eterno Deus, o Senhor, o Criador dos fins da terra, nem se cansa nem se fatiga? É inescrutável o seu entendimento.
29 But he giueth strength vnto him that fainteth, and vnto him that hath no strength, he encreaseth power.
29 Dá força ao cansado, e multiplica as forças ao que não tem nenhum vigor.
30 Euen the yong men shall faint, and be wearie, and the yong men shall stumble and fall.
30 Os jovens se cansarão e se fatigarão, e os moços certamente cairão;
31 But they that waite vpon the Lord, shall renue their strength: they shall lift vp the wings as the eagles: they shall runne, and not be wearie, and they shall walke and not faint.
31 Mas os que esperam no Senhor renovarão as forças, subirão com asas como águias; correrão, e não se cansarão; caminharão, e não se fatigarão.
