1 About that time was Hezekiah sicke vnto the death, and the Prophet Isaiah sonne of Amoz came vnto him, and sayd vnto him, Thus sayth the Lord, Put thine house in an order, for thou shalt dye, and not liue.
1 Naqueles dias Ezequias ficou doente, à beira da morte. O profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz, foi visitá-lo e lhe disse: "Assim diz o Senhor: Ponha a casa em ordem, porque você vai morrer; você não se recuperará".
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,
2 Ezequias virou o rosto para a parede e orou ao Senhor:
3 And saide, I beseeche thee, Lord, remember nowe howe I haue walked before thee in trueth, and with a perfite heart, and haue done that which is good in thy sight: and Hezekiah wept sore.
3 "Lembra-te, Senhor, de como tenho te servido com fidelidade e com devoção sincera, e tenho feito o que tu aprovas". E Ezequias chorou amargamente.
4 Then came the worde of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,
4 Então a palavra do Senhor veio a Isaías:
5 Goe, and say vnto Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord God of Dauid thy father, I haue heard thy prayer, and seene thy teares: behold, I will adde vnto thy dayes fifteene yeeres.
5 "Vá dizer a Ezequias: ‘Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de seu antepassado Davi: Ouvi sua oração e vi suas lágrimas; acrescentarei quinze anos à sua vida.
6 And I will deliuer thee out of the hand of the King of Asshur, and this citie: for I will defende this citie.
6 E eu livrarei você e esta cidade das mãos do rei da Assíria. Eu defenderei esta cidade.
7 And this signe shalt thou haue of ye Lord, that ye Lord will do this thing that he hath spoken,
7 " ‘Este é o sinal de que o Senhor fará o que prometeu:
8 Beholde, I will bring againe the shadowe of the degrees (whereby it is gone downe in the diall of Ahaz by the sunne) ten degrees backeward: so the sunne returned by tenne degrees, by the which degrees it was gone downe.
8 Farei a sombra do sol retroceder os dez degraus que ela já cobriu na escadaria de Acaz’ ". E a luz do sol retrocedeu os dez degraus que tinha avançado.
9 The writing of Hezekiah King of Iudah, when he had bene sicke, and was recouered of his sickenesse.
9 Depois de recuperar-se dessa doença, Ezequias, rei de Judá, escreveu o seguinte:
10 I saide in the cutting off of my dayes, I shall goe to the gates of the graue: I am depriued of the residue of my yeeres.
10 Eu disse: "No vigor da minha vida tenho que passar pelas portas da sepultura e ser roubado do restante dos meus anos? "
11 I said, I shall not see the Lord, euen the Lord in the land of the liuing: I shall see man no more among the inhabitants of the world.
11 Eu disse: "Não tornarei a ver o Senhor, o Senhor, na terra dos viventes; não olharei mais para a humanidade nem estarei mais com os que agora habitam neste mundo.
12 Mine habitation is departed, and is remoued from me, like a shepheards tent: I haue cut off like a weauer my life: he will cut me off from the height: from day to night, thou wilt make an ende of me.
12 A minha casa foi derrubada e tirada de mim, como se fosse uma tenda de pastor. A minha vida foi enovelada, como faz o tecelão, e ele me cortou como um pedaço de tecido; dia e noite foste acabando comigo.
13 I rekoned to the morning: but he brake all my bones, like a lion: from day to night wilt thou make an ende of me.
13 Esperei pacientemente até o alvorecer, mas como um leão ele quebrou todos os meus ossos; dia e noite foste acabando comigo.
14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourne as a doue: mine eies were lift vp on high: O Lord, it hath oppressed me, comfort me.
14 Gritei como um andorinhão, como um tordo; gemi como uma pomba chorosa. Olhando para os céus, enfraqueceram-se os meus olhos. Estou aflito, ó Senhor, vem em meu auxílio! "
15 What shall I say? for he hath said it to me, and he hath done it: I shall walke weakely all my yeeres in the bitternesse of my soule.
15 Mas, que posso dizer? Ele falou comigo, e ele mesmo fez isso. Andarei humildemente toda a minha vida, por causa dessa aflição da minha alma.
16 O Lord, to them that ouerliue them, and to all that are in them, the life of my spirite shalbe knowen, that thou causedst me to sleepe and hast giuen life to me.
16 Senhor, por tais coisas os homens vivem, e por elas também vive o meu espírito. Tu me restauraste a saúde e deixaste-me viver.
17 Beholde, for felicitie I had bitter griefe, but it was thy pleasure to deliuer my soule from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sinnes behinde thy backe.
17 Foi para o meu benefício que tanto sofri. Em teu amor me guardaste da cova da destruição; lançaste para trás de ti todos os meus pecados,
18 For the graue cannot confesse thee: death cannot praise thee: they that goe downe into the pit, cannot hope for thy trueth.
18 pois a sepultura não pode louvar-te, a morte não pode cantar o teu louvor. Aqueles que descem à cova não podem esperar pela tua fidelidade.
19 But the liuing, the liuing, he shall confesse thee, as I doe this day: the father to the children shall declare thy trueth.
19 Os vivos, somente os vivos, te louvam, como hoje estou fazendo; os pais contam a tua fidelidade a seus filhos.
20 The Lord was ready to saue me: therefore we will sing my song, all the dayes of our life in the House of the Lord.
20 O Senhor me salvou. Cantaremos com instrumentos de corda todos os dias de nossa vida no templo do Senhor.
21 Then said Isaiah, Take a lumpe of drye figs and lay it vpon the boyle, and he shall recouer.
21 Isaías dissera: "Apliquem um emplastro de figos no furúnculo, e ele se recuperará".
22 Also Hezekiah had said, What is ye signe, that I shall goe vp into the House of the Lord?
22 Ezequias tinha perguntado: "Qual será o sinal de que subirei ao templo do Senhor? "
