1 Woe vnto them that goe downe into Egypt for helpe, and stay vpon horses, and trust in charets, because they are many, and in horsemen, because they be very strong: but they looke not vnto the holy one of Israel, nor seeke vnto the Lord.
1 Que aflição espera os que buscam a ajuda do Egito, que confiam em seus cavalos, carros e cavaleiros e dependem da força de exércitos humanos em vez de olhar para o S o Santo de Israel!
2 But he yet is wisest: therefore he wil bring euill, and not turne backe his worde, but he will arise against the house of the wicked, and against the helpe of them that worke vanitie.
2 Em sua sabedoria, o S enhor enviará grande calamidade; não mudará de ideia. Ele se levantará contra os perversos e contra aqueles que os ajudam.
3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God, and their horses flesh and not spirite: and when the Lord shall stretch out his hand, the helper shall fall, and hee that is holpen shall fall, and they shall altogether faile.
3 Pois os egípcios são simples mortais, e não Deus! Seus cavalos são apenas carne, e não espírito! Quando o S tropeçarão aqueles que ajudam e aqueles que são ajudados; todos cairão e morrerão juntos.
4 For thus hath the Lord spoken vnto me, As the lyon or lyons whelpe roareth vpon his praye, against whom if a multitude of shepheards be called, hee will not be afraide at their voyce, neither will humble him selfe at their noise: so shall the Lord of hostes come downe to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.
4 Pois o S enhor me disse: “Quando um leão jovem e forte ruge sobre a ovelha que ele matou, não se assusta com os gritos nem com os ruídos de um bando de pastores. De igual modo, o S descerá e lutará sobre o monte Sião.
5 As birds that flie, so shall the Lord of hostes defend Ierusalem by defending and deliuering, by passing through and preseruing it.
5 O S enhor dos Exércitos sobrevoará Jerusalém e a protegerá como uma ave protege o ninho. Defenderá e livrará a cidade, passará sobre ela e a salvará”.
6 O ye children of Israel, turne againe, in as much as ye are sunken deepe in rebellion.
6 Ó israelitas, embora sejam rebeldes e perversos, voltem para o S enhor .
7 For in that day euery man shall cast out his idoles of siluer, and his idoles of golde, which your handes haue made you, euen a sinne.
7 Chegará o dia em que cada um de vocês jogará fora os ídolos de ouro e as imagens de prata que suas mãos pecaminosas fizeram.
8 Then shall Asshur fall by the sworde, not of man, neither shall the sworde of man deuoure him, and hee shall flee from the sworde, and his yong men shall faint.
8 “Os assírios serão destruídos, mas não por espadas de homens. A espada de Deus os ferirá; entrarão em pânico e fugirão. Os jovens assírios serão levados como escravos.
9 And he shall go for feare to his towre, and his princes shall be afraide of the standart, sayeth the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and his fornace in Ierusalem.
9 Até os mais fortes tremerão de pavor, e os príncipes fugirão ao ver suas bandeiras de guerra.” Assim diz o S cujas chamas ardem em Jerusalém.
